Task 1

In your English class, you have been discussing the effectiveness of online learning. You have
made the notes below.

Pros and cons of online learning:

• flexibility

• boosts self-motivation

• lack of human interaction

Some opinions expressed in the discussion:

• ‘Online courses can make it easier to procrastinate.’

• ‘Because students don’t have to travel to a physical campus, they will save time and money.’

• ‘Online courses may create a sense of isolation.’

Write an essay discussing two of the reasons in your notes. You should explain which reason is
more important in making a choice to study online, giving reasons in support of your answer.

You may, if you wish, make use of the opinions expressed in the discussion, but you should use
your own words as far as possible.
