Council is undertaking an important project to achieve the long term strategic vision to make Stawell a better place to live, work, invest and visit. The project will guide the preferred location, type and use of new development in Stawell, to accommodate population and economic growth for the next 20-30 years. Improvements to streets and roads for all transport modes, including walking and cycling will be a key consideration. The project will also identify opportunities for potential new public open spaces and community facilities. The project will also provide guidance to enhance the arrival experience into Stawell along the Western Highway to attract visitors to stay and spend in the town.
What areas does the project
cover? The study area is the main settlement area of the town including key land use areas such as the Stawell Gold Mine and Airport. The project will also explore in more detail private and public land along the Western Highway between Playford Street and Sloane Street. A key area will include the Seaby Street intersection as the main route into the town centre from the Highway.
