Christmas holiday

Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year, as we all know, is an annual winter
holiday, celebrated all around the world. Most people, out of religious reasons celebrate this
wonderful holiday on the 25th of December, on the day when Jesus Christ was born.

As the traditional story tells, Joseph and Mary arrived to Bethlehem, but unfortunately,
they couldn’t find a place to stay, eventually they managed to rest in a stable. Here, Mary gave
birth to Jesus, the son of God. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger. The
parents and the newborn child were visited by angels and shepherds. *Here Jesus was born and
was visited by angels and shepherds.

During this holiday, people prepare and eat different types of traditional dishes like
roasted pork, pork and beef based aspic filled with meat and vegetables, roast duck or turkey
with cranberry sauce, potato salad, cabbage rolls stuffed with rice and meat. In some countries
fish and chicken soup are also considered traditional Christmas dishes. Besides these delicious
meals, people also bake and eat cookies, creamy pies and cakes like. Using the traditional
cinnamon, ginger spices, a lot of homes have scent of gingerbread, sweet bread variations or
mulled wine.

The most exciting part of this magical holiday is the Christmas tree.* This is my family’s
Christmas tree from last year and the other picture shows our city centre’s tree. Usually, city
centres dress up in colourful Christmas lights and decorations, but the most beautiful part of this
is their very own Christmas tree. The lights, the ornaments are always magical, just like in a
fairytale. And if it has snowed, well, then it is definitely a white Christmas, just like when we
were children.

Like other holidays as well, Christmas is also a unique holiday. one. When we think of it,
it brings happiness, joy and calmness into people’s hearts. Each country, nation has its own
traditional way of celebrating and enjoying it, but the most common ways are the ones which
Traditional celebrations include going to church, singing Christmas carols ( Silent Night, Santa
Claus is coming to town, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas etc. ), having quiet and
peaceful moments with family and friends.

Every year, children and grownups from all around the world wait impatiently, gathered
around the Christmas tree for Santa Claus. He is that big, fat, lovely old man in a red coat that
brings presents for those who have been nice all year. He also takes care of the naughty ones too.
Presents are important, but so is kindness and love during this time of the year, it’s
important to be thoughtful of those who are less fortunate and have a kind heart when it comes to
helping them not just at Christmas, but throughout the year as well.
