Global Emergencies: The greenhouse effect

Since the beginning of the 20th century, global gas emissions began to rise
exponentially, registering over 36 Billion tons per year and consisting
mainly of CO2, nitrous oxide…Did you know that temperatures around
the globe have risen over 3 Degrees Celsius in the last 100 years? We’ll
be talking about the main causes of the greenhouse effect, or in general,
global warming. The greenhouse effect is caused by Pollution, Solar
Irradiance and Ocean Evaporation.

1. Pollution

Pollution is mainly caused by gas emission from industries and cars

around the world. Heavy industry emits many potentially hazardous
pollutants into the air which can affect the surrounding environment. The
main effects of air pollution include the formation of smog above major
cities. Dangerous gases such as CO2 and NOx are increasing and blocking
sunlight and transferring heat into the earth’s crust increasing the global
temperature levels. In conclusion, pollution can be reduced by adding
filters to the industries out there, and that will help in having a better
environment.
2. Solar Irradiance

Solar Irradiance, or Radiation, is the capture of solar heat by the excess of

gaseous particles in the atmosphere. When heat is trapped, it has a 50%
Chance of being reflected to the earth's crust, which results in abnormal
heat levels. That effect increased with the deterioration of the ozone layer
as the years passed. Recent studies have shown that skin cancer, which is
caused mainly by solar radiation has become a top case in the clinics
worldwide. Solar Radiation is increasing at a scary rate that could cause
major problems among the populace.

3. Ocean Evaporation

As CO2 emissions became a major problem worldwide in the early

1990s, there was another problem; a rather natural problem. Ocean
evaporation is the result of solar irradiance and pollution combined;
where sea water would evaporate because of solar ray reflection emitted
by CO2 particles dispersed in the air. That would make water vapor
another greenhouse gas contributing in global warming.

The greenhouse effect has caused a lot of problems in the last century
ranging from deterioration of the ozone layer to the melting of the
Antarctican Ice crust. Problems are increasing by second and solutions
are very limited in this point of time.
