practicing its social responsibility. Discuss how end this practice using appreciative inquiry.

Background of the Business in the Philippines

According to pinoyentre posted on September 12, 2009 that Master Siomai is a food cart

business developed by Masterrific Foods. The company was established in 1999, started out by

supplying processed meat products such as Ham, Bacon, Burger Patties, and especially Siomai to

hotels, restaurants and market places in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Still going strong seven years after it was established, the success and experience of

Masterrific led it to another highly-promising venture in 2007 – a Food Cart Franchising. This

gave birth to Master Siomai which grew to 550 outlets and counting to date. The company also

has branches in major malls like SM, Robinson’s, Gaisano, Ayala, Gotesco, NCCC, Puregold,

Waltermart and Savemore. Its rapid growth can be attributed to its very efficient system, high

product quality, and exceptional personnel.


One of the keys to Master Siomai’s sensational success is credited to its very own

distinctive Japanese siomai – pork siomai wrapped in genuine Japanese seaweed specially topped

with crab. To complement this feature product, our signature Japanese-inspired food cart is

designed in a way that will contribute to the light and pleasant atmosphere that our patrons

deserve. Aside from these, we also take pride in our delicious and flavorful beef, pork and

shrimp siomai plus a thirst-quenching gulaman pandan drink to serve as refreshment. Other new

and exciting products will be rolled in the future not only for the market to embrace, but for our

customers to enjoy.

The primary motivation of Master Siomai is to be approachable. We are driven to satisfy

both the taste buds and pockets of the modern Pinoy with only the best products made from the

best ingredients using innovated technology and a skilled workforce.

As we can observed in the history of Master Siomai, since it was established in 1999, as its

background as the big franchising company in the Philippines not in a single word that the franchising

company supports Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

It is only focus on the sales, and customer satisfaction that makes the company as the fast

growing franchising food cart in the Philippines.

Hence, they are not active in participating corporate social responsibility. As the business grew

they must consider to help and share their blessings and bring it back to the people who serve as their

customers every day.

In order to end this practice, the company should do bench marking like the top 1

company the San Miguel Corporation who is proactively reaches out to bring forth change that
will enable people to live better lives. The objective is to create programs that address employee

welfare and instil a sense of pride in people for being part of the San Miguel Group.

Those are the qualities should master siomai adopt, where they are not just making more

sales but they use it to help the their employee to be more successful and earned as well, as a big

company in the Philippines they must be consider their employees welfare, the company should

build their employees to become a successful of the food cart, they must have a win-win

situation where everyone is happy and successful and the community also.

As I learned in appreciative inquiry, they must know the needs of your employee and

because of that I believed that the employee is the pillar of the business, in order to make the

company stronger, it must see to it the value of sharing and the value of voluntarism.

As the company grew, it because of the employee who take good care of their work

because I believed, a happy working place invites positivity that the customers attract not just in

the delicious foods of master siomai but they must always consider their employees welfare and

their growth not just a service crew but soon to be the owner of the food cart.

As a customer of this prestige food cart, the master siomai, I always observed that their

service crew is always exhausted and they don’t smile to their customers, I don’t think if they

enjoy their work or they just do it because they need it to do.

In order to end up this practice they must have a bench marking in the different

companies who was successfully grew not just only their business but their employee grow an

make their dreams come true with the help of the company.
