Gateway Online Class

H E L LO !

Session Nine 21st May

Hello again to the Gateway Gang!

In this document I have a written instructions to accompany the video I made for this
weeks class. I used household items for all projects so hopefully you will have some/all of
the materials at hand!

There are three options of tasks to complete this week. Once you have experimented
with each task, I would like you to try and combine the projects!

I hope you are all keeping well... I have missed you!

Origami Birds
Materials needed: Paper, scissors. Optional: pen/ colouring pencils.

Step 1 -  Cut an even square of paper. Not too small, at least 10

cm at each side.

Step 2 -  Placing the square like a diamond in front of you, fold in

half.

Step 3 - About a finger width from the bottom of your triangle fold
top toward the right.

Step 4 - Open this smaller triangle to reveal a diamond.

Step 5 -  Fold this diamond horizontally.

Step 6 - On the left of this new triangle fold corner down. This is
the beak.

Step 7 - Fold the long flaps which are facing towards you, away
from you. These are the wings.
weaving with paper
Materials needed : Paper, scissors, newspaper/magazine.

Step 1 - Flick through a paper/ magazine and rip out pages that have blocks
of colours.

Step 2 - Cut theese pages into thin, even strips.

Step 3 - Bunch similar colours together.

Step 4 -  Take a sheet of paper and fold it in half.

Step 5 - Holding the spine of the folded paper towards you, cut even strips
up the paper. Do not fully cut to the top of the paper. Leave a gap about as
thick as two fingers.

Step 6 - Unfold the paper and lie it out in front of you with the lines running
vertically.

Step  7 - Weave your strips of coloured paper horizontally through to make

an image.
drawing shaddows
Materials needed : Pen/pencil paper. Optional: chalk, paints.

Step 1 -  This is a simple project, but you can really go wild with it!

Step 2 -  We are going to make graphic images by drawing around shaddows.

Step 3 -  Depending on what materials you have available you can do this at several different scales and with a variety of materials
and as I have shown in the video.

Step 4 -  When outlining a shadow be sure not to move the object you are tracing from, but remember you can move the paper,
which means you can make repeat patterns etc. Enjoy!
THANK YOU!
