Have you ever asked yourself how well you seek Christ? Well in the beginning of this year I
asked myself that question and at first I didn’t like my answer. In the beginning of this year I realized how
much my life didn’t reflect God and how much I wasn’t actually seeking Christ always. I would want
Him when I needed something instead of keeping Him in my mind always and thanking Him for what he
has done. I had realized it’s time to make a change and create some goals. I’d like to share three things
that I had to fix in order to grow and seek Christ more. First, I had to fix my relationship with Christ.
Second, I made sure to dedicate time to show God’s love to others who need it. Lastly, I want to add what
bible verses caused me to come up with my goals and helped me change my ways.
So first off I noticed before I can do anything else I needed to make sure I was right with God and
make sure that my relationship with Him got better. So what I did was I started taking his word seriously
and also I would find ways to thank God rather than ask God for things. Which not only changed my
attitude but also the way I viewed things. The first way I applied this was everyday in the morning,
afternoon and at night I would pray to God and thank Him and not only thank Him but also ask him for
strength throughout the day. This helped me have Him on my mind throughout the day. The second way I
was able to grow in my relationship with God was also realizing to treat everyone the same and not have
groups or clicks. I had first realized I was doing this when I joined a soccer team during the summer of
2019 it was a spanish team and I was the only American there so I was the one left out but luckily I had
Daniel and Frankely there too. It was helpful to have people there that I know and be accepted into that
group. I disliked the fact that they had there like groups of like friends and then when I was placed with

them they didn’t want to participate anymore cause I was there. After that happened it hit me and I
realized God gave me a piece of my own medicine because I was also like that. In my school I only
enjoyed participating in things with just my class or friends, whether it was a sport or an actual class. It
helped me to realize my errors and then strive to improve and change and by doing this I felt my
relationship with God improve. The last example I’d like to use was my involvement in my church. We
are missionaries here in the Dominican Republic and that means we are here to spread the Gospel and
God’s love to those around us. Realizing that I was sitting back and relaxing rather than doing what I am
here for caused me to feel ashamed. So that is when I decided to ask God to help me grow and be more
mature with His teachings and to help me participate in the church and now I lead worship with the kids
and sometimes with the adults I also lead and set up the games for the kids to play and sometimes I give a
little message of God’s word to them. These examples Helped me the most to grow in my relationship
with Christ the most and once I felt my relationship grow and I felt confident and strong God then told me
“hey don’t stop there” and that’s when I came up with some goals.
My favorite part was coming up with my goals. I asked God to show me what I am good at and
sure enough he answered. I created my first goal because God showed me that I was joyful. The first goal
I made was to always spread joy to those around me no matter where I am. I mean I don’t know anyone
yet who can look at me and not laugh and see the joy I have. For example at school I make sure each day
to find someone who looks a little down and cheer them up. I remember being in English class and I saw
Keyrol. She had her head down and she looked tired and I asked her “What’s wrong?” she answered that
she didn’t get much sleep and I remember telling her a joke that cheered her up a little. It gives me self
pride to know that I made someone happy. I created my second goal because God showed me that I am
here to serve. My example for this is when I helped the 12th graders with selling food during the younger
kids expedition night. God spoke to me that night and said one simple word “serve” so right away I went
up to Keyrol and asked if I could help and of course she said yes. I didn’t do it for anything in return and I

actually enjoyed hanging out with their class. I learned that serving is fun so I also helped their class the
second time they selled food during the Christmas Program. I created my third goal because God showed
me I needed to humble myself. I am a soccer player and I have talent in that area and I can brag about it
and use “I” a lot. I used to say “I am…”, “ I can” and the reality is “I” can’t without God. He gave me the
talent and I want to use it for Him and for His glory not my own. My example for humbling myself was
actually a very important moment in my life and it is so hard to mention it without sounding like I am
bragging so don’t think that I am. Me at 17 years old got picked for the National Team in Dominican
Republic. What shocked me the most was that God helped me show them my talents and be selected.
Only 5 kids were picked from Jarabacoa and God allowed me to be one of them. So instead of going
around the school and bragging I kept it as a secret and thanked God for that blessing. It is nice to create
To me every goal you create should reflect God so I looked in the bible and found scriptures to
create each one of my goals. My first goal was to spread joy to those around me no matter what and the

commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you”. This reminds me to love others and bring
joy to others especially those who need it the most. My second goal was to serve others with a happy
heart without seeking a reward. The bible verse I used is Colossians 3:23-24 and it says “23 And
receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” From this I learned to serve others
and not do it for them but for my Father in heaven. My third goal was to be humble and not to use my
talents to brag but instead to honor God. The bible verse I used for this goal is Mathew 23:12 which says
“12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

I learned that humbling yourself by not thinking that your above others will end up helping you later
cause those who brag their blessings end but those who are humble their blessings continue.
In conclusion, I believe that I have come closer to Christ and put the skill “Seeker of Christ” to
work and have shown it through my actions. I did it by first becoming closer to God and growing in that
relationship with Him and then by spreading joy to others and also by being humble and no longer boast
about my achievements. Everything I have was given to me by God and just by knowing that it makes me
want to be a better person and do things according to God’s word. So now I can say I feel much better
