SENIOR PROJECT SELF-EVALUATION

Name - Cailin Besharati
Project Start Date – Second Semester, 2020

Title of Project - Organs on Demand
Project Completion Date - May 11

● In 40 words or more describe who your project benefited and how. In other words,
what was the impact of your project?
○ My project benefitted the freshman biology students. They learned about
something that is a very real medical advancement. The technology of 3d
bioprinting could affect any one of them in the future. If one of the students
found interest in the topic, it might lead them to do some research of their
own or give them some ideas for their own senior research paper topics.
● In at least 40 words explain how the project challenged you. How was this a stretch
for you?
○ I was challenged on decided what exactly my project would be, it changed a
lot. I also had trouble finding a speaker when I thought that’s what I needed.
● List and then describe 5-8 fundamental ideas/concepts/skills of your project, which
you learned/enhanced during your project.
○ I learned emailing skills, how to write to professionals.
○ I learned phone skills, I hate talking on the phone but I feel better after the
calls I made while planning.
○ I feel that I overall learned better communication skills.
○ I learned teaching skills, this is the second time I’ve made a lesson plan. I had
to create something for many students to view and had to teach them what I
learned through my research.
○ I learned citation skills, after all the citations I’ve made, I think I know how to
cite sources.
● List and describe 4-8 problems/obstacles/issues you encountered in your project,
and briefly describe how you solved each.
○ No one that I conducted for an interview got back to me. I had to find a
mutually friend who works in a close field but not exactly bioprinting.
○ When writing my paper I had trouble finding case law. I had to write about
other regulations/laws that could apply but don’t yet apply.
○ No one that I contact to speak at my project got back to me. I designed my
project around not having a speaker instead.
○ Coronavirus and quarantine happened. I move my lesson to be online.
● List materials used.
○ N/A
● List all people who helped you with the project and briefly describe the help given.
○ Ms. Shoemake: my lesson plan is for her class.
○ Mrs. V: I talked to her a few times about what my project should actually be
and how to move forward when things weren’t working out.
○ I was taught how to use a 3D printer at the TCC JUL by a woman whose name
I forgot.
○ My dad: he knows some things about 3D printing technology so he helped me
when I was having issues with it at home.
● How does your completed project compare to the picture you had in mind when you
started the project? Explain the reason behind any changes to your proposal.
○ My different from my initial project proposal. My event changed because I
found a better audience that would be easier to reach and quarantine
happened.
● If given the opportunity, explain what you would have done differently now that you
speak from experience?
○ I would have done my project sooner.
● Beyond the project itself, what did you learn about yourself?
○ I enjoy learning about science but I’m not the best person at translating it to
my own words.
● What grade would you give yourself on the project? Justify the evaluation of your
grade in at least 25 words.

Grade: B/B+

Justification: I would give my self a B/B+ because I put in good work but I still think I could
do more but online school has decreased my motivation.
