Name - Kenisha Lorvinsky Project Start Date – Second Semester, 2020

Title of Project -Skin Deep: Institutional Racism in the Healthcare System

Project Completion Date - May 15, 2020

1. In 40 words or more describe who your project benefited and how. In other words, what was
the impact of your project?
This project’s impact is to bring the fatality of health disparities to light. My project has taught
me that health disparities may happen on purpose or not, but without proper education our
society is susceptible to this injustice.

2. In at least 40 words explain how the project challenged you. How was this a stretch for you?
This project has only made me more passionate about fighting for minorities. My project stretched
me because this topic has been treated as taboo therefore it is very difficult to research and find any
information on.
3. List and then describe 5-8 fundamental ideas/concepts/skills of your project, which you
learned/enhanced during your project.

1. Organization- I am not very organized, but this project forced me to keep everything in
line and has definitely helped me for the better while preparing for college.
2. Scheduling- I was not the best with deadlines, but because this project and the academy
are very important to me I put the effort in and turned everything in promptly.
3. Legal Research and Writing: I enhanced my research by learning several tips and tricks,
such as reading the abstract of an article first. I also mastered the art of APA writing
4. Enhancing my creativity- I had to figure out how to take my play and make it into a
different form.
5. Adapting to Change- Before this project, the virus might have killed my spirits but this
project has shown me that I can persevere.

4. List and describe 4-8 problems/obstacles/issues you encountered in your project, and briefly
describe how you solved each.

1. Setting a Date- I had wanted to set a date after I got a venue, and before I got a venue I had to
figure out how to execute my difficult plan idea. I just dove in and wrote the email asking for the
venue.
2. Coronavirus- The virus had shut everything down, including my venue and it had cancelled any
type of gathering ruling out even filming my play. I then wrote a book.
3. Creativity- I have never seen myself as the creative type, but I pushed myself to write a play and
then I had to push myself to write a story.
4. Project form- From proposal to end my project has taken on three different forms, due to
effectiveness and timeliness. I wrote a book that would carry out my plan of educating along
with something that was safe during the virus.

5. List materials used.

● Google Docs
● Vis.me
● Canva
6. List all people who helped you on the project and briefly describe the help given.

1. Mr. Hodges- My consultant was very honest with me and gave useful advice
2. Mrs. V- Being there every step of the way with real and raw advice
3. Alexis Rosenfeldt- Helped me finish my paper on time, helped me with the project
concept and even drove me to prospective venue location
4. Angelle Laboard- Encouraged me while I wrote my book and gave advice for the plot.

7. How does your completed project compare to the picture you had in mind when you started the
project? Explain the reason behind any changes from your proposal.
The book is completely different because I had wanted to do a murder mystery dinner party, but the
logistics would not work out with my event being open to the public. My project then took the form
of a play with murder mystery activities after, but the virus struck and canceled my event one week
before. The last form my projet took was a book.

8. If given the opportunity, explain what you would have done differently now that you speak from
experience?
I would have made sure to choose an executable project in my proposal and to make sure that I
made myself a work schedule to stay on track.

9. Beyond the project itself, what did you learn about yourself?
I learned that I need to jump into a task and face them head-on so that I do not procrastinate.
10. What grade would you give yourself on the project? Justify the evaluation of your grade in at
least 25 words.

Grade: 90

Justification: I have risen to the occasion of tackling the obstacles that came at me every step of this
process. I have completed my project through scheduling conflicts, form conflicts that ended up
changing the entirety of my project multiple times., and mental blocks.
