LESSON PLAN IN T.L.E.

– EXPLORATORY DRAFTING
Week 1: January 27 -31, 2020

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of 60-minute lesson, the students are expected to:
a. Differentiate the discussed writing system,
b. write sentences using the discussed writing system, and
c. appreciate the importance of knowing the evolution of letter.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Exploratory Drafting
Sub-topic: Evolution of Letter
Materials needed:Visual aids, powerpoint, chalk and board

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings and Classroom Management
3. Attendance
B. Developmental Activities
Ask the students about their idea on drafting.
C. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation
Show images of various writing system of the ancient world to the students.
Students will say their ideas regarding the images.
2. Presentation of the Lesson

Day 1
Lecture: Using visual aid and powerpoint, discuss introduction to evolution of
letter. Puts emphasis on Hieroglyphics, its origin and history.
Show examples and have the students write the examples on their
own.
Students will try to write a sentence using some of the Hieroglyphic writing
system.

Day 2
Lecture: Using visual aid and powerpoint, discuss Cuneiform, its origin and
history.
Show examples and have the students write the examples on their
own.
Students will try to write a sentence using some of the Cuneiform writing
system.
Day 3
Lecture: Using visual aid and powerpoint, discuss Boustrophedon, its origin
and
history.
Show examples and have the students write the examples on their
own.
Students will try to write a sentence using some of the Boustrophedon writing
system.

Day 3
Lecture: Using visual aid and powerpoint, discuss Old Roman, Modern
Roman,
and Carolinean letters and explain how it became the inspiration for the current
Alphabet.

3. Application
Group work. Students will be divided into 5 groups:
1 – Hieroglyphics
2 – Cuneiform
3 – Boustrophedon
4 – Roman
5 - Carolinean
The group will be given 10 minutes to brainstorm about the contribution of
their assigned writing system to the evolution of letter. After finalizing their
thoughts, the group representative will present their opinion.
Day 3
4. Generalization
Ask the students what they have learned from the discussion and activity.
Ask the students about the importance of knowing the evolution of letter
Ask them what part of lesson that needs clarification.

Day 4

IV. EVALUATION
Individual work. In T.L.E. portfolio, think of a valuable quote or motto applied in real
life. Write the motto in creative way with their chosen writing system.

RUBRIC

EXCELLENT – 20 PTS
- Task is done creatively.
- Motto/Quote is valuable in real life.
- Neatly done and no erasures.

GOOD – 15 PTS
- Task is done.
- Motto/Quote is somewhat valuable in real life.
- Done with only few erasures.

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT – 10 PTS


- Task is done unprolifically.
- Motto/Quote is not valuable in real life.
- Many erasure.

V. ASSIGNMENT
Research and read about the Elements of Writing Guidelines.
