Postproduction

When editing way there was multiple set done to reach the Final Edit. Me and
Benn both worked on the editing pf the Music Video. The first thing we done
was watched all the footage that was shot over the two days. We then start
editing the Dance scenes first as that was the main part of the music video.
When editing the dance scenes, we had to mute the sound as the dancer need
the music to dance when filming the scenes in the studio but we were using a
backtrack of the song of the music video not the sound we filmed. We had shot
multiple angles of the dance. We then watched all the clips back to find the
angle that looked the best. We did this throughout every dance move we
filmed and used different angles so the effect would jump from one angle on a
period of the dance movements to a different angle on another period. When
we found the right angles, we when had to match the music in the footage to
the backtrack because we had to make sure the dance moves matched the
beats in the backtrack. This took a long time as it had to be perfect or the
viewer would have known the movements did not match the beats on the
song. When the clips were matched perfectly, we then muted the sound of the
footage and we done this onto we had the full dance routine matched to the
backtrack. After finishing the dance routine, we moved on the abuse scenes. It
was my idea for the abuse scenes to be showed over the dance routine as the
movements in the abuse scenes would mirror the movements on the dance
scenes and I thought this would be a really good effect and show the dancer
was acting out what she had been through in her dance moves. So we looked
through all the abuse footage we filmed and puck out the clips that matched a
certain moves in the dance and put in on the edit that they would show at the
same time as the moves did. How we done this was we went into compositing
and selected blend screen mode and put the opacity to 100%. That the start of
the music video there was 20 seconds before the dancer actually started
dancing so we took a clip from her standing before she started dancing and
faded it with a abuse clip of her sitting in the corner curled up crying. After
finishing the dance and abuse scenes we add a message about Domestic
Violence and the number to call for any victims of Domestic Violence. To finish
of the editing Benn colour corrected the whole music video and we looked
through filters to use to add an extra effect. We ended up choosing one that
faded the corners in a black circular shape with the middle staying normal. I
feel that this really framed the dance and the actors in their scenes.
