2.3 Pre-procedure

Complete the R.C pile works for the foundation, and get covering acceptance minute for the pile
works

Site clear and grub, arrange site plan, the material, formwork, timber will be stacked in sort.

Study the working drawing, confirm the location of embed rebar, the installation sequence of
formwork, and concrete casting sequence;

Before the next stage procedure, get the acceptance minute or temporary inspection for the current
procedure, make a record and report when the inspection is qualified.
3. Working procedure

3.1 Working sequence

The working sequence will be described as the following:

3.2 Procedure description

Foundation: the box culvert base and apron was usec><350 R.C pile. Until now the RC pile
foundation was almost completed in accordance with the Engmeequest on site

Excavation:

Due to current condition on site, the work level after excavation is under the water level for all box
culverts. And the countermeasure for excavating under the water is necessary. The more detail
information refers to following table:

Rebar work:

Make survey line on the completed lean concrete surface., and also make line for the rebar/
formwork arrangement., then prepare rebar work for bottom slab and side wall. Set steel pipe to
support the rebar cage when installation to prevent cage deviation. Then minimum cover to main
reinforcement shall be not less than 5cm: lap spliced will be not more than one bar than bar 12m for
all.

Formwork: The concrete for culvert will be cast into two phases, the first phase is that cast the
bottom slab concrete, and the second phase is that cast the side wall and top slab concrete, the
construction joint will be set 50cm above the bottom slab. The formwork system will use wood
formwork with steel pipe support; the formwork will be pre-designed, fabricated in site. The
connection between the interior and exterior formwork of wall willFubS tension bar, the vertical &
horizontal distance will be 60cm:
Installation of Pre-fabricated formwork steel Mould panels will be used for forms. Layout of the
forms will be installed in accordance with design of forms cased on approved working drawings.

The frame of the Formwork will be cleaned, free from dust, grease or other foreign matter and will
be treated with the approved form-release-agent before installation. Form will be installed by means
of the Bolt & Nuts and Temporary support will be installed properly in accordance with design of the
form and levelled properly to keep that in the position and to ensure that there is no dislocation and
any leakage while casting concrete in the Mould arrangement. Gap at the joints of the forms will be
in-filled by packing to prevent leakage of cement past of casting concrete.

After completion of installation of formwork mould panels, the responsible person will check the
formwork mould arrangements, such as levels, surface and overall dimensions of the layout and
place level strips if necessary, to mark the exact level Clearance around formwork mould panels.

The concrete for culvert will be cast into two phases, the first phase is that cast the bottom slab
concrete, and the second phase is that cast the side wall and top slab concrete

There the rebar stirrups are then grouped `in the Casting area and then placed at a specific
predetermined distance with the support provided before fixing at the exact position

Construction joint: Refer to the original design., there are two construction joints for each segment.,
the first joint will be set for the two segments connection location; the second joint will be set for
the connection between the culvert wall with the wing wall. For the first joint, the width of
connection concrete will be proposed to enlarge to 25cm, 2cm cork slab will be pre-embed in the
connection, sealed with waterproof strip outside. To ensure the vertical tolerance within the limited
requirement, it should be prepared two separately formwork (clamp the water stop). For the
seconctejoriatn <P20(vertical space 300mm) in the side wall of culvert, Fdsle rebar to connect
between the wing wall with the side wall. The connection joint detail refer to the following drawing:

@ Concrete pouring: The key point is the second phase for concrete casting, and the important point
for the concrete casting is side wall construction. The height of side wall will be 2.0m (1.5m, 3.8m
and 4.0m): casting with conduit pipe, remove the pipe per 1.5m. Keep the rebar out in the area of
conduit pipe to easily casting. Complete rebar installation when the side wall concrete is totally
Casting.

side wall concrete 50cm per layer. The concrete should be pumped into the formwork equality, the
specify worker will be equipped with each poker vibrator and located in specify area. Conform to the
working sequence: side wall to middle wall, then other side wall, for each layer and turn. While
complete the side wall concrete, begin the top slab concrete.

© Concrete curing: After the last treatment to surface of the top slab, cover the surface with sacks,
keep moisture for 7 days.
® The non-bearing formwork will be dismantled after 1 days, the bearing formwork will be
dismantled after 3 days.

4. Quality assurance

4.1 Rebar

The rebar type, quality, weld rod, weld flux, will be accordance with the contract requirement,

The rebar lap length, quantity, space, anchor distance will be checked and accordance the
requirement as described before.

The quantity of loose binding for rebar will be kept within 10% of all.

The rebar splice and lap length will be accordance with the requirement, and checked strictly.

4.2 Formwork

The formwork support should have enough bearing capacity and stability. The supports have enough
support area.

The gap between the formworks will be controlled within 1.5mm.

The interface between the formwork and the concrete should be cleaned and pre-treated with
insulate agent to prevent sticking. The total area of insulate agent will not more than 1,000 cm2.

4.3 Concrete

The cement, water, aggregate, adhesive agent will be accordance to the material requirement and
approved by the Engineer.

The mix design, material measurement, mixture method, curing and construction joint should be
pre-taught to the specify staff, and operate followed the standard procedure.

The sample cube will be tested as the AASHTO 98 requirement; the test result should achieve the
design requirement.

The concrete should be vibrated to the requirement strength, and prevent honey hole in the
concrete component.

Prevent the concrete surface from rebar out, crack, and other defection.
5. Safety precaution

Dress the safety helmet and prohibit dressing slipper into the site.

Dress safety belt when operation 2m above the surface., and prohibit throw anything from the high
level., and no jump from the support formwork.

The formwork will be selected from rotten, cracked ,wrecked ones, keep the bottom of formwork
level;

Specific switch shall be equipped to all kinds of electnc equipment. Those outside shall be equipped
with waterproof box with lock and operation area shall have insulation layer. Checking and
reparation of electric equipment shall cut off power first. If impossible, liable safe measure shall be
taken and monitored by specific person.

Prepare drainage system when the rainy season is coming, keep the drainage unblocked. And tide
the site after rainy.

6. Work schedule

The work schedule of box culverts will be attached in next independent documents.
