Introduction
You have decided on the Audi Sound System - thank you very much for your
confidence in us.
With th is equ ipment, you are acquir ing a highly developed technical system which offers various
choices for enterta inment and communication. All the settings can be made centrally, using an easy-
to-fol low menu gu ide.
We recommend that you carefu lly read the operating instructions so that you quickly become
complete ly fami liar with all of the functions and possibilities of the system and are able to make full
use of them while driving.
Please note that these operating instructions are a supplement to your vehicle's owner's manua l and
shou ld only be used in conjunct ion with the current owner's manual.
Should you have any furthe r questions about the Audi Sound System in your vehicle, please direct
them to your authori zed Audi dea ler .

Cleaning the display
• You can carry out many of your radio system's f unct ions from the
mu ltifunction steering w heel*=> page 55 . • - Clean t he display with a soft clean clot h and an LCD
cleane r.

• Treat the display with care. Pushing on it with your finger or
touching it with sharp objects can cause dents or scratches.
• Cleaning CDs can damage the drives .

Selecting a CD The rad io system has a memory card reader. SD or MMC ca rds can be
loaded in the memory card reader.

Driving requires your complete and undivided attention. As the
driver, you have complete responsibility for safety in traffic. Never
operate a portable audio device while driving because this
increases the risk of an accident.
[I) Tips
• We recommend adjusting the volume of the portable audio device
to approx imately 70 percent of the maximum output. Adjust the
volume on the portable audio device before adjusting it through the
vehicle sound system.
• The vehicle battery discharges whe n the eng ine is stopped and the
audio device is switched on. •

Principle of operation
The radio functions are performed by pressing the
buttons and rotating and/or pressing the knobs on the
radio.

- To turn the radio on, insert the ignition key in the ignition
lock . The menu for the last selected main function is
displayed, and the last selected audio source is switched
on.

Manual operation
- Press the On/Off knob briefly to turn the radio on .
- To turn the radio off, press the On/Off knob until the radio
switches off.

To access the function shown in one of the four corners of the display,
press the co ntro l butto n cor responding to this display corner. For
exa mple, the control button in the upper left corresponds to the
upper left disp lay co rner ~ page 20, fig. 14 .
