Destination of use
THE VITA MULTIFUNCTION OPERATING TABLE is equipped with electrohydraulic and manual adjustment devices to support
the patient during surgery and to hold the table in different positions depending on the type of surgery performed by means
of appropriate supports/accessories. It is intended for use in operating theatres.
WARNING
Carefully read the Instruction Manual before using the multifunction operating table.
WARNING
The operating table is immune to interference generated or induced by other electronic equipment oper-
ating in its proximity.
WARNING
Apart from cleaning, all maintenance and repair must be carried out by specialised staff only.
WARNING
Removal of the safety devices and earthing and equipotential connections is strictly prohibited.
WARNING: To avoid risks of electrical shocks, this equipment must only be connected to power supply
networks with earthing protection.
WARNING
Never use worn or damaged accessories.
Always check that accessories have been correctly fixed to the operating table.
When moving the operating system, avoid collisions between accessories and parts of the operating
system or anything close to it.
If accessories made by other manufacturers are used, safety and functionality cannot be guaranteed. It is
advisable to consult OPT.
WARNING
Any technical modification that has an effect on functioning or safety of the operating table and its acces-
sories may only be made by the manufacturer’s technicians or technicians formally authorised by the
manufacturer. Otherwise, OPT will decline all responsibilities regarding changes or damage that may
derive thereof.
WARNING
Before starting to use the operating table, the end user must, with the aid of the clinic's engineering
department, check the impedance value of the connection to the equipotential earthing node whether
it runs through a conductive floor or through a special connection cable to the connector on the column.
WARNING
After start up, the check as above must be repeated at regular intervals.

WARNING
The antistatic properties of the operating table are related to use of cushions provided or recommended
by the manufacturer.
If an antistatic path is required, the operating table must be used on an antistatic floor.
WARNING
The VITA MULTIFUNCTION OPERATING TABLE has been designed to support a patient during surgery
and must not be used for other applications. To use the table close to high-frequency electrical equip-
ment, cardiac defibrillators and cardiac monitors/defibrillators, the instructions for use provided by the
manufacturers of this equipment must be followed closely. Incorrect use may cause serious accidents. If
a patient comes into contact with metal parts and/or accessories fixed to the operating bed, there is a
danger of burns.
WARNING
The high technological level and reliability of used components and the technical solutions adopted
during operating table manufacturing, can not completely avoid the possibility of a malfunction that can
cause the interruption of the operating table electrical movements .
.
Should this happen, the patient must be removed from the table. Should be changed the position of the
patient, it has to be done by using the movements that are still working, or specific disposals as, in exam-
ple, additional cushions to be put right under the patient.

In case of obese patient movements, or external conditions, for example particular floor surface or mate-
rial, which require extra push strenght, the operating table movement must be performed by 2 operators.
WARNING
The operating table transfer on wheels must be performed only in “COMPLETE LEVEL [A]” position or
“PARTIAL LIVEL [B]" position.
It is allowed to lift the stabilizer and transfer the operationg table when not in LEVEL" position, and when
connected to the Mains.
Before any operating table transfer with the patient on the tabletop, check that the patient is in central
position and barycentric to the column.
WARNING
Do not place any object or other materials on the operating table base, always check that the base is free
of objects which could collide with the table during its parts movements.

With the [B] sequence, when the operator press “ZERO” button the following movements are activated:
• Lateral movement
• Trendel / Antitrendel movement
• Leg section
• Longitudinal tabletop slide
• Column down or up
An intermittent acoustic signal informs the operator that the position of “PARTIAL LEVEL” has been reached and that is pos-
sible to lift the stabilizers.
If the operator keep pressed the “ZERO” button for 5 seconds, or release it and then press it again, the table completes the
movements in order to reach the “COMPLETE LEVEL” position.
An acoustic signal informs the operator that the “COMPLETE LEVEL” position has been reached, and that is possible to lift the
stabilizers and move the table out of the operating theatre

and it is advisable to use both hands. In particular, if it is necessary to unscrew a locking device in order
to place or remove a component, it is necessary to know the method for locking the device once more, in
order to avoid uncontrolled movements.
Before proceeding, the operator must always evaluate the necessary force required to carry out the opera-
tion required depending on his or her own personal capacity.
If no such evaluations are made, there is a danger that any uncontrolled parts can:
• cause injury to the patient, user or operators;
• fall to the ground with danger to both upper and lower limbs
• be damaged to the extent that it can no longer be used or be dangerous to use.

The EQUIPMENT is intended for use in the electromagnetic environment specified below. The customer or the
user of the EQUIPMENT should assure that it is used in such an environment
NOTE 1 At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the higher frequency range applies.
NOTE 2 These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and
reflection from structure, objects and people..
a) Fields strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base stations for radio telephones and land mobile radios, amateur
radio, AM and FM radio broadcast and TV broadcast cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy. To assess the
electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters , an electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If
the measured field strength outside the shielded location in which the [EQUIPMENT OR SYSTEM] is used exceeds [field
strength] V/m, observe the [EQUIPMENT OR SYSTEM] to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed,
additional measures may be necessary, such as relocating the [EQUIPMENT OR SYSTEM] or using a shielded location
with a higher RF shielding effectiveness and filter attenuation
b) Over the frequency range 150 kHz to 80 MHz, field strengths should be less than [V1] V/m.
The EQUIPMENT is intended for use in an electromagnetic environment in which radiated RF disturbances are controlled. The
customer or the user of the EQUIPMENT can help prevent electromagnetic interference by maintaining a minimum distance
between portable and mobile RF communications equipment (transmitter) and the EQUIPMENT as recommended below,
according to the maximum output power of the communications equipment.
For transmitters rated at the maximum output power not listed above, the recommended separation distance d in
meters (m) can be estimated the equation applicable to the frequency of the transmitter, where P is the maximum
output power rating of the transmitter in watts (W) according to the transmitter manufacturer.
Note:
(1) at 80MHz and 800MHz, the separation distance for the higher frequency range applies
(2) These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and re-
flection from structures, objects and people.
WARNING
To clean the metal parts of the operating table, additional modules, head sections, leg sections, accesso-
ries, etc. never use products containing chlorine or its compounds and by-products
WARNING
Do not under any circumstance use products containing abrasive agents or organic solvents to clean the
cush-ions, as their prolonged use may compromise some of the technical properties of the cushion covers,
such as elasticity and conductivity.
In the event that metal surfaces come into contact with products containing chlorine, immediately rinse
them with clean water and dry them thoroughly.
WARNING
Every single stainless steel component of the operating table is further protected against rusting by
means of a chemical surface treatment before final assembly.
In order to always keep the operating table in perfect condition and ensure perfect efficiency over time, the end user must
set up a procedure for periodic inspection and routine maintenance including at least the following:
Visual check of cables (electrical power cable, equipotential cable, control system cable) to make sure they are undam-
aged and correctly insulated. If the apparent state of one of the cables causes doubt as to its condition and safety, do not use
the network power and replace the cable as soon as possible.
Functional test of the mechanical systems and coupling mechanisms of the components and accessories of the operating
bed. They are supplied with a thin layer of lubricant, that optimises functionality and preserves them over time. This lubricant
layer that decreases after several cleaning operations, can be restored by passing a cloth with Vaseline over the parts involved.
NOTE
It is recommended to periodically carry out an in-depth inspection of the electrohydraulic and manual moving
devices of the component parts of the operating table, at least once a year or more frequently if the operating table
is intensely used. It is advisable to have these inspections carried out by an OPT Technical Service Centre.
NOTE
All interventions that require specific knowledge and technical skills are defined as “Special Maintenance Work”. This
type of work must be carried out by Authorised OPT Technicians or technicians who have been explicitly certified
by OPT
NOTE
All the cushions on OPT operating tables, and all the other parts made from polymers on OPT tables do not contain
latex.
NOTE
If the operating table is not used or used only at irregular intervals, no special precautions are required; it is sufficient to
turn it off using the button “OFF”.
Under normal working conditions, the storage batteries guarantee that the table will function for several days.
The storage batteries should however be charged at the end of each operating session overnight or when not in use.
Regular recharging of the storage batteries prolongs the battery life.
If the system is not used for a long time, charge the batteries every 15-20 days at least to prevent the storage batteries
from going flat and from deteriorating.
WARNING
Apart from cleaning, all maintenance and repair must be carried out by specialised staff only.
WARNING
- Do not place cushions in contact with oil or oily substances.
- To remove the cushion easily from the central section, lift it starting from the four corners.
- The antistatic properties of the operating table are related to the use of cushions provided or recom-
mended by the manufacturer.
In the event of faults or malfunctioning of the operating table, contact your local service centre, providing as much accurate
information as possible as well as the serial numbers of the parts involved.
WARNING
OPT will only consider itself responsible for safety, reliability and performance of the equipment if assem-
bly, modifications or repairs are carried out by authorised persons and only if the equipment is used in
environments that are compliant with IEC regulations and which conform with the users’ manual.
WARNING
Do NOT connect or interface the operating table to/with any electrical or electronic device not provided
or approved by OPT.
