INTRODUCTION
In December of 2009, Mustard Seed Global Fellowship
planted a church in Nagoya, Japan--a city of nine million
people. That church was named Mustard Seed Christian
Church. By Godʼs grace, the church is now one year old.
Over the past year, God has been working in powerful NAGOYA
ways and we, the staff of Mustard Seed Christian Church,
are pleased to report on Godʼs activity in this churchʼs first
year.

We hope this report will provide you with a good snapshot

of the past year in the life of the church. We also hope this
report leads you to thanks and praise for Godʼs mighty
work in Nagoya, Japan. Lastly, we hope this report will
lead you to greater excitement and prayer for the CONTENTS
continued work of this church.

PREACHING
One of the most important things we
do in Japan is preaching the gospel of
Jesus Christ. We do this every single
week at the Sunday morning meeting.
For this reason, the entire staff and
many church members work to get
non-Christians to the church
gatherings in order that they might
hear the gospel.
The preaching this year was Bible-
based, focusing on core truths of
Christianity. The church website has
been a surprsingly helpful means in
proclaiming the the gospel. This past
year the our churchʼs messages
were downloaded over 13,000 times.

WORSHIP
In Japan, music speaks to people in a
powerful way. The worship serves, first
and foremost, as an activity that all
Christians engage in to glorify God.
The dynamic music has also served to
draw many non-Christians to the
church and keep them coming back.
The worship band includes a rotation
of MSCC staff, Japanese musicians
who attend the church and a few other
area Christians.
FELLOWSHIP
Times of fellowship and making
relationships have come very naturally
for this new church. After church on
Sundays, fellowship times usually last
for over an hour and then may also
include lunch. After the Bible study on

Tuesday nights the fellowship times go
any where from one to two hours after
the Bible study.
These are very effective times of
ministry and relationship bulding times
in our church.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING
The church has had a host of church
volunteers this past year. We also
have two young men, Taisei and
Hideki, training for various kinds of
leadership. Recently we also hired our
first Japanese staff person; Risa a
young woman who will serve part time
as a ministry assistant.
BIBLE STUDY
Bible study meets in a living room
every Tuesday night at 7:30. The
meeting has anywhere from 5 to 15
people in attendance. This past year
the material was aimed at teaching
very basic truths to the new Christians
in the church while giving the non-
Christians in attendance a chance to
learn more about what Christians
believe and what the Bible says. These
meetings also include a time of group
prayer at the end of each study.
OUTREACH CHILDRENʼS CHURCH

only 0.5% of the population are

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF
FUTURE
MSCC NAGOYA
Mustard Seed Christian Church has been
established in Nagoya and it had a wonderful
fi r s t y e a r. T h i s c h u r c h w i l l c o n t i n u e
evangelizing and developing into a mature
local body of believers. Along with continued
growth this church will seek to become more
and more like the church that we find in the OSAKA NAGOYA
New Testament. Continue to pray for this
church and ask God to work powerfully through
the staff and the new Christians in Nagoya.

OSAKA, JAPAN

PLANTING A CHURCH IN OSAKA

Next fall, half of the staff in Nagoya will move to Osaka to plant a
church in Japanʼs second largest city. Osaka is home to 14.3 million
people who need Jesus. Pray for this new church plant. Ask God to
lead the way and move mightily in this city.
