Fishin’ on the Milk

Suppose these anglers who were fishing on the Milk
River east of Glasgow are already doing some prefishing
for the 21st Annual Milk River Catfish Classic, or just out
enjoying a beautiful afternoon and getting a line wet? At
any rate the Cat Classic is right around the corner, slated
for Friday & Saturday, June 5th & 6th with entertainment
taking place in downtown Glasgow. The Glasgow
Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture is once again
having the Milk River Catfish Days, also in downtown
Glasgow, which was an inaugural event for the 20th
Annual Milk River Catfish Classic (see back page). The
official 80 team numbers are inside today’s Buzz.

Former Glasgow girls basketball coach Jon Kolstad
will take over the Wolf Point girls’ basketball program
this winter. The Wolves were 7-17 last season after
winning the State Class B championship the year before.
Kolstad was the Scotties’ head coach for for two
years before current Scotty Coach Travis Nielsen took
over four years ago. Kolstad coached the Scotties to a
second place finish in the conference and the district
tournament. Glasgow finished fourth at the Northern B
divisional, finishing with a 16-8 record.
Malta dominated the District 2B league that year
behind Sophia Stiles and the M-ettes. Malta defeated
Glasgow 47-26 for the 2B championship. The M-ettes
went on to beat Fairfield 46-42 for the divisional crown.
One of Glasgow’s losses at the divisional came
against Fairfield in the semifinals, 54-47.
Kolstad, an optometrist, was born and raised in
Wolf Point and has lived there for a few years. He will
get the opportunity to coach his daughter, Josie, who
will be a junior for the Wolves.
Kolstad takes over for Brent Nygard, who stepped
down after the 2019-20 season.

Democrats fearful of second wave

Democrats are fearful of a second wave. They’re fearful
that a second wave will land in the US, and that it will
benefit President Donald Trump.
Of course, the second wave we are talking about
is not the fear of a second wave of the coronavirus.
Democrats are fearful of a second wave of the economic
boom that we’ve seen under President Trump.
Fox News has this headline: Dems reportedly
warning preelection economic surge could boost
Trump
“Politico reports that Jason Furman, a top economist
in the Obama administration and now a Harvard
month that “We are about to see the best economic data
we’ve seen in the history of this country.”
“This is my big worry,” a former Obama White
House official told the outlet, who said of the concern
about top members of the party: “It’s high -- high, high,
high, high.”
One month ago, the Associated Press openly
reported on Democrats “rising hopes” that an economic
downturn would help return them to power in the US
Senate and potentially the White House:
Democrats have rising hopes of gaining the
minimum three seats they’ll need to capture a majority,
while Republicans who once banked on a robust economy
and improving Trump approval ratings are showing signs
of nervousness.
With a struggling economy due to the COVID-19
shutdowns, the AP noted that “favorable signs for
Democrats are evident.”
When it comes to boosting our economy, President
Trump did it once. He’ll do it again.
