Clarifications and recommendations

New Land – GEG Project

According to soil bearing capacity in the new land based on

geotechnical report we need to excavate and install the foundation
at depth 2 m for all the area.
Where:
Considering the load of the tank in the static case = 57000 kn
The pressure forces under the foundation = 116 kps
The bearing capacity for all the borehole at depth 2 m = 129 kps
minimum except the borehole BH06 = 113 kps which is not
enough for applying the load of the tank.

- We can say that the new land at depth 2 m able to apply the
load of the tank in the static load case.
For BH06 the difference is not too much we can consider that the
safety factor according to the geotechnical report was 3.
By the way in the final design with considering the seismic loads
combine we can verifies the loads with many solutions.

- In this land the level line of the foundations is 2 m at least so we

have to consider that we need some work as returning walls or
levelling soil work around the project and using efficient
drainage and water discharge system for rain water away from
footing zone.
- We can depend on the new land for this project because of the
high bearing capacity at depth more than 1.5 m.
- We must check the allowable pressure and loads after locating
each tank.

Notes:
For the previous land we can also depend the same method by
excavate at depth 3m with the difference that we need piles just
for the block number 2 which has 4 tank with considering the cost
will be more if we want to keep the land compared with the new
one
