Plot
In the beginning of this novel, the central plot sounds quite typical and run of the mill. An orphaned
young woman who is living with her uncles and aunts who treat her just like Cinderella was treated
at her home. She is filled with teenage angst, frustration and ingratitude to God. On the way to her
college one day she comes across a young lady who hands her over a book saying that the
knowledge contained in this book has the solutions to all her problems. Intrigued, she takes the book
from her and that’s how her life changes. The religious awakening this book will provide is beyond
measure. It’s a book that will make us realize our own faults.

Characters
The main protagonist Mehmil is depicted realistically carrying hopes and dreams of a typical
teenager at heart. As she grows from an angry young teenager to a mature woman, the reader
grows with her. The second strongest character is of Farishtay, Mehmil’s mentor, guide and later
nemesis. Through Farishtay’s character the readers will discover their own flaws and the motives of
their actions. As you progress through the book, at many times you will realize the mistakes we all
are doing as Muslims. There are many other characters but they are all supplementary and a little
atypical. However they play their part in taking the story forward really well.

Writing Style
The writing style is amazing. As the book progresses, you will start realizing the faults in your
character and will get an insight into the causes of most of your problems. Although fiction but
Mushaf is at times a self help book. If read properly, it will bring you closer to Allah and Quran. There
are scenes that will make you go “A-ha” and change your entire perspective on life and then there
are scenes where the tears wouldn’t stop (especially the scene where Farishtay recites the dua
about Noor). Nimra Ahmed has definitely done her research and put her heart into the book. This
book stands along the lines of Peer e Kamil by Umema Ahmed. But I couldn’t find myself in Peer e
Kamil but in this book I found myself reflected in Mehmil’s character so many times.

Conclusion
This is a must read book. We all have problems in our lives yet we seek solutions elsewhere
whereas Allah has granted us a book with all solutions fourteen hundred years ago. When it comes
to relationships, we all consider ourselves on the right side putting the other person as wrong. If we
thoroughly analyze the situation, we will get to see where our mistakes are. You will have to read
this book to believe it.
This is one book that is highly recommended by me.

Some books have magic to change our way of thinking. For me Mushaf was that magic book which
describes about another good book Mushaf mean Islamic book “ Quran e Pak” the last holy book which
Allah sent down to people for the whole life guide of man.  This is one of the best novel of Nimrah
Ahmad which made me cried, emotional and introduced me with new perspective. I count this novel as
one of my favorite novels. I really enjoyed the concept of the novel, the relation of Quran with life. The
way writer described the importance of understanding Quran by relating the different Quranic verse
with different situation was unique and inspiring. This made the story more powerful. The novel made
me to think in a different way. It made me realize that how wrong I did by reading Quran without
understanding it meaning. I call this novel a guideline book for me as sometime all we need in our busy
life was the reminder, the guidance and this novel did this thing for me. 
Apart from this I must say the novel has brilliant theme, meaningful messages, strong characters,
inspiring dialogue, great story and all that which a reader want in any novel. I recommend this novel to
everyone especially to those who need to remember about religion and need some motivation. Those
who want to read a great, amazing and inspiring novel not miss that novel.  I really enjoyed reading of
this novel because it looked the story of me, the story of all of us not exactly in the same way but it links
with our lives. I really like the message at the end and this is one of the reason I select this novel for my
review which was its end not to stop motivating others toward the right path, knowledge of Quran. I
really believed if one read this book he/she really get some motivation or lesson from this novel. 
Mushaf novel was all about the importance of reciting and understanding Quran-e-Pak deeply in our life.
Here is the story line of the novel for those who want to know the about the story.
The story describes about the live of girl and how her life changed after deep analysis of Quran . Mehmal
Ibraheem who was an orphan and lived in a joined family with her mother, taya and chachas family who
did not treat them well and did not give their rights in property, her cousins was jealous of her beauty as
every proposal came for them asked for mehmil. She was very disappointed from her life and found no
guild line in her life. basically the novel starts with mehmil on a bus stop where she daily noticed a girl
who was completely covered in hijaab and was holding a book with black cover about which she told her
that it was a magic book in which there was story of everyone, the book knows about everyone life’s
and if you follow it you would have the whole world and if you leave it you would have nothing which
increased the suspense of mehmal in it one day she asked the girl for that book because she wants to
change her life but later she found it was Quran. She gets anger on such a joke as she was excepting
some magic book which changes her life but her life finally changed when her cousin fawad trapped her
in love and sell her to hamayun for money from where she manages to run away and reached on the
roof of madrassa where she meet her step sister Farishaty about which she know later and there she
found Hamayun was not a police man who made a complete plan to got prove against fawad to arrest
him.
Farishatay was another important character of the novel. Farishatay was Hisifa and teach quran to other
girls in madrisa and each conversation of mehmil and farishtay motivate mehmil to learn about Quran
more deeply by knowing it translation. When mehmil start going to madrassa and learn Quran. she
realized that Quran was written for her, Quran talk to her and guide her in all situations. Whenever she
needs help, she open Quran and perfect verses related to that situation open and Quran answer all its
questions. Her life starts to changed in positive way. She start talking help form Quran in every difficulty
and start understanding message of Quran and found noor in her life.
One day her mother died and she marriage hamayun after going against her taya and chacha by the help
of her sister and start spending a happy in the light of Quran. after 2 year when she had 1 year old son
an accident happened to her and she went into koma. when she recover from that koma seven years
passed and everything was changed. her husband did not love her now because of misunderstanding
create by her cousin to take revenge, her sister which was a positive, motivation character took place of
her because she love her husband from start and sacrifices her love for mehmil but not more. Her
husband gave her divorced and her son hates her. mehmil again starts reciting quran daily for help and
Allah help her. Every problem gets resolved by their own she proved innocent, her son attracts towards
her again and her taya and cousins get punishment from Allah. her sister who lived in the Islamic
atmosphere, know Quran more deeply  loose from the girl Mehmil who forgave everyone and separate
from their life with her son. so her sister married with Hamayo. Time passed and her son becomes a
great scholar. She was happy in her life. the story end in the same way as it begin from the bus stop but
the difference was that now Mehmil was the girl who was holding Quran and repeating the same lines
to another girl who was disappointed from life.

My first ever Urdu book, and I didn't regret it a bit. This book has altered the way I used to look at
the world. This book has taught me how to read Qur'an and understand it by finding messages
hidden in between the lines. I never thought of Qur'an 'Talking' to us before, but now I know that
Allah SWT gives us little signals in the form of Ayaat everytime we stray from the straight path. I
loved the main concept and how such an amazing message is interwoven with the life of an everyday
person. Good Job Nimra Ahmad. We need more books like this one.
A masterpiece by Nimrah Ahmed. Changed my perception on life, its deception and how it keeps
distracting you by trapping in its delusional web. It increased my love for the Holy Book and now i
feel a fresh desire to read and understand the holy scripture again and again until it becomes a part
of my personality and my life.

mushaf meaning QURAN. Nimra Ahmed beautifully conveyed the ups and downs of life and
magnificently connected verses of Quran with the happenings in Mehmal’s life. This actually showed
that how Quran is a miracle. It’s not just as most people say ‫ اساطير االولين‬i.e. stories of old times. It is a
reminder for the people of the present age and this novel changed the perspective of life in my
opinion.

Another important lesson it gave was that we should trust Allah and no one else. Indeed guidance is
for those who seek for it. Another important thing I realized was that people who are good from the
very beginning they also get mislead by shaitan. Practicing Islam is a life long journey you are tested
every single time even if you are very Achi.

I recommend you this novel and I am sure even if it didn’t change your life it would definitely leave
you in great awe. In every incident of this novel is a hidden message. May Allah grant us the noor and
insight to actually understand the treasure of each verse revealed by Allah.

We might not be Mehmal but we can actually learn a lot from her.
Life is all about choices 

Literally i was unaware of the real meaning of Mushaf which langauge is this and whst are the
meanings of it. Many people suggested me to read this book it's related to Quran and for daily life
chores. I never pay a heed to such suggestions. Because in urdu literature these novels worth
nothing, they only suggest to read classics particularly by Ishfaq Ahmed, Bano Qudsia, Manto,
Intizar hussain, And Abdullah hussain. But i suggest them to take this type of literature in your
crtics. Our society and young generation is not reading classics suggested by urdu experts but they
are reading these authors and fantasises their life upon these stories.
As far as book is concern it is a master piece or one of the book near to become a master piece, not
because I'm Muslim or i have read quran or i read tafseer and know real meaning of Quran but due
to the story line and interesting way to teach. I adore Nimra Ahmad that she is using this method to
teach her audience instead of dictating.
Nimra Ahmad plotted two parallel stories in her book (i) Ishaq e Haqeeqi (Love with Allah) (ii) ishaq
e mijazi (love with a humen being) and i surely say this love with Allah can create everything in your
life, particularly those things you think impossible.
َ‫َوأَحْ ِسنُوا إِ َّن هَّللا َ ي ُِحبُّ ْال ُمحْ ِسنِين‬
Be good. Verily, Allah loves those who are good.
Allah is most generous and he never take your good deeds without paying you off the reward.
‫ت َسيَجْ َع ُل لَهُ ُم الرَّحْ ٰ َمنُ ُو ًّدا‬ ِ ‫إِ َّن الَّ ِذينَ آ َمنُوا َو َع ِملُوا الصَّالِ َحا‬
Verily, for those who have believed and done righteous deeds, the Most Merciful will appoint for
them affection.
I don't think we humans even think about it to pay gratitude to the other who always do mercy on us.
We even forget the attitude of our parents, while we know no-one will be more loyal to us rather then
our mother and father. But Allah didn't do it he remembers each and every bit of out righteousness
for rewarding us and our faults to forgive us. As in this book Muhmal was the one blessed person to
get changed her whole life and do believe on everything and decision came by the Allah. And i read
the life changing story of her here, how crucial moment was that when her life was out of her hands
she believes on people and her own sister came as an angel to guide her, to get help from Quran and
after reading verses of Quran whole scenario was changed.
‫ان‬ِ َ‫فَبِأَيِّ آال ِء َربِّ ُك َما تُ َك ِّذب‬
Then which of the favors of your Lord will ye deny?
But all this happened in her life due to Allah, because she got the love of Allah and HE listen to her,
sent her help. Indeed this book is fiction but this happened in our lives too. He sent his angels in the
war against non Muslims to HIS beloved prophet. We are never equal to Hazrat Muhammad SAW
but HE never left us alone too. We just needed faith on it.
‫َّحي ٌم‬ِ ‫قُلْ إِن ُكنتُ ْم تُ ِحبُّونَ هَّللا َ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْ بِ ْب ُك ُم هَّللا ُ َويَ ْغفِرْ لَ ُك ْم ُذنُوبَ ُك ْم َوهَّللا ُ َغفُو ٌر ر‬

Say: If you should love Allah, then follow me. Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, for Allah
is forgiving and merciful.
Secondly she tried to tell us what Islam is, i love the passage where she has define the difference
between Religion and Islam. Indeed Islam is a complete code of conduct to spend whole life and it
will not get old as per modern notions. And he chosen this religion for us.
Thirdly she discussed about patience and from the life of holy prophet we can learn the lesson of
patience by reading and listening different events, and these events or incidents were too much
painful but HE remain patient and Allah has promised to give best reward in its response now we
have open choice to choose our way.
‫ص ْبرًا َج ِمياًل‬
َ ْ‫فَاصْ بِر‬
So endure patiently, with a gracious patience.
If you will follow the path of Allah and keep the patience with you in every hardship indeed he'll be
with you. Like on the death of our beloved we speak with out thinking that in which sense we are
talking about so we have to be careful at the moment also remember the words of Hazrat
Muhammad SAW on the death of his son. He said it's painful but he have to be patient because Allah
is happy with his move and it will be best for me.
َ‫إِ َّن هّللا َ َم َع الصَّابِ ِرين‬
“Indeed ALLAH is with the patient”
Fourthly she wrote abour forgiveness the main character Muhmal never forgive to her relatives who
were cruel to her but after reading and learning Quran she start doning that as per Allah's wish
because He has promised rewards on it too. Because after every hardship there is an ease.
‫ْر يُ ْسرًا‬ ِ ‫ فَإِ َّن َم َع ْال ُعس‬:
Verily, with hardship comes ease.
We have to be patient and forgivers so the Allah will be love us.
The thing i like the most in this book is that she explain quran in daily life. We take Quran for
granted that how it will help us? Indeed it does to our ancestor or forefathers and to us too. We have
to make our lives according to Quran. Our 98% problems will be resolved.
The book with its end has really pushed me to approach the Holy Quran from a different angle to
achieve guidance and not just recite for the sake of it.
After reading this book i again fall in love with Allah that how generous He is, He have sent a whole
for me, for us and we are still betraying Him. In the end of the story i get all my answers and the
result as per Allah and Quran promised. (less)

The book also clarifies the concept of making Dua. It is true that we can ask for anything in this
world and the hereafter and God has promised to bless us with if its good for us, but we often forget
the essence of it all. Farishtay started asking for Humayun in every single dua she made, all her
practices initially were focused on pleasing and connecting with her God and then all he practicing
became on pleasing Him to get Humayun somehow. The beauty that was so evident in her workshop
in the initial chapters of the book was lost.

Although I must say I did not like the descriptions of the physical outlook of each of her cousins
where they were described to be average looking and need of constant make up to look "pretty" and
how Mehmel was naturally very attractive.
