“Tale of a Singing Zebra is a delightful nine-part guided reading story about following your dreams,
making friends and seeking adventure. The online story has been developed to make learning to
read enjoyable and fun for emerging readers.”

#2. My next recommendation is from the free book collection of Starfall.com. It’s the Greek
myth – the story of Pegasus, the winged horse.

#3. My third story recommendation for the week is called Daniel and his Friends, and it
comes from PBS kids, which is an American website, so there will be some spelling
differences, such as neighbor instead of our spelling neighbour. It teaches the value of our
shared humanity, despite differences.

#4. I recently discovered the website, Funbrain, and though I am wary of the pop up ads
(please avoid clicking on them) there are some great reads on it.
Grade 2s who are already reading chapter books may enjoy this
sample from Judy Moody was in a mood, by Megan McDonald
https://www.funbrain.com/books/judy-moody/page/1
There are other samples of Judy Moody books on this website, and
lots of the Judy Moody books in the library for when school
reopens, if you grow to like her.
#4. Shortly before this week’s library was to be shared on the website, I registered our
school for access to Engage Literacy, which is supported by Raintree publishers in the UK.
This password and username can be used by anyone in your school and can also be given
to your students and parents to use on their devices and is valid until June 30th 2020.
We do hope you and your students enjoy Engage Literacy and that it's not too long before
you are all back in school.
Once you have logged onto their website you could choose a story, but the one I
really enjoyed is in the 3rd row and is called “Birthdays around the World”.
I’m sure that some of us have celebrated birthdays during lockdown, and what a
different sort of birthday that would have been!
Warm regards,
Mrs R Bentley
