PE (Team Sports) – Midterm Exam

How can you relate the following TEAM SPORTS to your life?

1. Softball

Softball is a bat and ball sport played between two teams of 10 players. I
played softball in School during our PE subject and it is really good for our
physical and mental health. I experienced a lot in playing softball such as: I
missed to hit the ball, I got dirt, I stumbled, and got bruise when ball hit me.
From that day Softball became a motivation in my life, you have to do your best
to achieve your goal in life. For me, the bat symbolize my self and the ball
symbolize my problems and difficulties in life. You don't need to run away from
your problems, you must face that problems and hit it away from you then run
towards your goal or dreams. In Softball and other team sports you need
teammates to help you reach the goal, without them you can't win the game.
Just like in my life I have my friends and family that helps and encourage me to
achieve my goals.

In playing softball you may stumble, hit by the ball and got bruises but it
is part of the game, in life you need to get hurt first to become brave and fight
again. Hard work leads us to our dreams. Softball has this magnificent way of
proving to us that if we never give up and we put over all into something, good
things will come in return.

2. Volleyball

Volleyball is played by two teams of six players on a court divided by a

net. The objective of the game is to send the ball over the net so that the
opposing team can not return the ball or prevent it from hitting the ground in
their court. Sometimes my friends ask me to play with them. I always refuse
because I am not good at it and I'm afraid that I might hit by the ball.
Sometimes I am avoiding the ball if it is coming towards me. But when I played
Volleyball at School for our PE subject, I realize some things inside the court.

Don't be afraid to hit the ball, swing at everything. Even if it goes out of bounds
or gets blocked, you went down swinging. If you don't play the game, you don't
get those great moments of getting an ace. Just like in life, if you don't try to
do the things, you might lose the great opportunity in your life. Volleyball teach
me that don't be afraid to get hurt because it leads you to victory.

3. Basketball

Basketball is a game played between two teams of five players in which

are scored by throwing a ball through a netted hoop fixed above each end of
the court. This game is special to me because I play it with my siblings every
weekends and sometimes in our School. Basketball not only teaches me how to
win games or be physically strong, but it helps me to develop real-world skills
that can be applies to all areas in our life. In playing basketball I became more
confident in myself. Basketball taught me that you can not succeed unless you
believe in yourself and also to your teammates. It is belief that gives you
confidence. You must believe you will make that free throw which will win you
the game. Like in life, you must believe in yourself. You must have faith in your
abilities. Without this belief and faith in your capabilities you can not be
successful and be happy. As what they said "Life is like a basketball, it bounces
up and down". I feel affection for the taste of victory when you win. However, I
also find losing as a worthwhile experience. For me, in Basketball it doesn't
matter if you win or lose, the important is the lesson you have learned inside the
court.

4. Soccer

The Soccer is a game played by two teams of eleven players with a round
ball that may not be touched with the hands or arms during play except by the
goal keeper. I never tried to play Soccer in a real field which is wide. For me
Soccer field symbolize our World where we play the game of our life. When I
was a kid I played soccer with my cousins in our backyard using a big box as a
soccer net. I know we played it wrong because we don’t know yet the rules, all
we know is that we must kick the ball towards the box or goal. The objective of
the game is to score goals by kicking or leading the ball into the opponent's goal.
I see Soccer ball as my life, you must chase your life if it is going to the wrong

path. You must take it to the right path that leads to your goal or dreams in life.
Don't let others mislead your life. Like the other Team sports, Soccer is also
good for our physical and mental health.

5. Sepak Takraw

Sepak Takraw is a foot volleyball game where players touch as well as

handle the ball using only their feet, knee, chest and head. The rules and
regulations of the game are very much similar to that of volleyball. I learned
about sepak takraw during our PE subject in Senior High School. This fun-filled
game of Sepak Takraw mainly combines Soccer and Volleyball on a badminton
court, using unique hand-woven balls. Taught properly, participants quickly
discover how easy the game is to play. Its all about modifying and progressions
and developing the largely neglected area of eye-foot coordination. This is a
very inexpensive, practical, extremely fun sport that anyone can play. I tried to
played it once in school with my classmates. And I think it has a lot of benefits
for the players like it can be played as a solo activity, group recreation, or team
sport; can be played indoor or outdoor; develops excellent eye-foot co-
ordination, leg strength, and flexibility; enhances the skills required for playing
soccer; and is very inexpensive to play. Playing Sepak Takraw is good for our
body it helps us to be strong and healthy.
