COAL PULVERIZING SYSTEM

COAL FEEDER

Using electrical scale


Coal feeder equipments :
1. Inlet valve
2. inlet pipe
3. coal feeder
4. controller
5. Major points (pressure MP, Temp MP)
6. Cable
7. outlet pipe
8. Outlet valve
9. Cleaning Chain

1 Boiler has 4 coal mill and 4 coal feeder.


Function of coal feeder is to adjust the feed rate
There are 5 alarm on coal feeder :
1. Belt dissalignment alarm ( deviation of belt )
2. Coal jamming alarm
3. No coal alarm
4. Cleaning Chain broken alarm
5. Over temperature alarm

Coalfeeder start up preparation & inspections :


1. Already have trial running and is up to grade all operations order for coal feeder are
done, already deliver power for coal feeder.
2. Have nice lighting,no sundries inside coal feeder
3. Signals on control box is correct on “remote” control
4. Cleaning chain is good, belt is not broken, don’t have obvious disallignment (fire fighting
steam prepared)
5. Sealing air valve is opened

How to inspect & maintenance coal feeder


1. Check the motor and speed governor is working properly or not, is there high
temperature, vibration abnormal noise or not.
2. Coal feeder belt is running properly, no dissallingment, no damage, clearing chain is
working properly,no stop,no jam
3. Lighting is good, signals on control panel is correct
4. Coal feeder body temperature is normal

Allow Startup conditions for coal feeder (must satisfy all the condition)
1. Sealing air of coal feeder is already open
2. Coal mill outlet valves are opened
3. Coal mill is running
4. Coal feeder outlet valve is opened
5. Coal feeder control is on “remote” position
6. Coal mill outlet primary air temperature should be 60 – 70 oC
7. Coal mill roller is rised to the position
8. No coal feeder trip condition

Coal feeder interlock shutdown conditions :


1. Coal mill system have any trip conditions
2. Coal feeder sealing air valve is fully closed
3. Coal feeder outlet valve is closed
4. Coal jamming at coal feeder outlet
5. Coal Feeder inlet valve have coal jamming
6. Coal feeder motor failure
Compress Air Bag control cabinet .
Put in local
Press button it will automatically start
one by one the air compress bag there
is the interval time around 3 second
We also can put in manual position

There 7 air compress bag in every coal


bunker.

Local Control panel for coal feeder : Rotary Scraper Control Cabinet

3. OFF button = Local condition can use (cannot function on this control cabinet.

4. LOCAL button = to switch the operating condition in cal feeder to local position
5. JOG button = to check motor operation (to try motor operation good/not)
Running JOG button for short time for trial n must get permission from supervisor
Using JOG button will influence the boiler
6. TOTAL button = to show the total coal quantity feed to coal mill
Signals on the coal feeder control panel :
1. RUNNING = when startup running lamp will on, normal = running lamp will on
2. FEEDING = Coal on belt n coal belt is running to feed coal to coal mill
3. ALARM = Alarm lights is on, it means there are some problem in coal feeder
4. TRIP = When a serious problem on coal feeder/coal mill, coal feeder will trip and the TRIP
lamp is ON
5. VOLUMETRIC = When the weighing system have some problem, coal feeder will running
under the coal feeder stack
6. REMOTE = ON – operating condition in remote
7. OFF = On is shutdown
8. LOCAL = if in local condition, local signals will on
COAL mill system :
Interlock protections between the coal mill and coal feeder :
1. Coal Feeder trip = coal mill will not trip immediately, but will take a delay trip (15 s – 30
s) (when coal feeder trip = to start up, immediately get permission)
2. Coal feeder inlet valve is not fully opened,coal feeder cannot startup
3. Coal feeder sealing air valve is not fully opened, coal feeder cannot start up
4. Coal mill trip, coal feeder will trip immediately after coal mill trip. The following valves
will be act by interlock :
a. Fire Fighting steam valve will be act by interlock
b. Outlet valves (4) will close automatically
c. Cold primary air valve and hot primary air valve will close automatically
5. If coal feeder is running, coal feeder belt have no coal due tocoal jamming, “no coal”
signal is sent out and coal mill current decrease then coal mill system will tripped after a
certain time (thermal dynamic protection)
6. Coal mill outlet lose flame signals (3VS4)then coal mill trip
7. Other electrical problems will also cause coal mill system trip

Coal mill performance Parameters :


Basic input = 64,35 (coal mill continuous output)—for 1 coal mill
Max output = 70,70 (very short time to reach it)
Max drying output = 41,6
Min output = 17,675 (start up, we have to set “the coal feeder must be larger than this”
Min air flow = 15,24 Kg/s (less than it will trip)
Rated air flow = 21,63 kg/s

Electrical motor for coal mill


Rated power = 450 Kw
Rated speed = 990 rpm
Start up voltage/current = 6 kv/377A
Enclosed air cooling = use the air to cool down the motor
Motor based on = structure, output (high = H n water (600 MW) ; low = air)

Coal Feeder Parameters :


Output range = 5-50 T/h
Power = 0,75 KW
Power supply = 380 V, 50 Hz -- 3 phase
Measuring device style = electronic weigh scale to weigh the coal on coal belt
Inspection period (for measuring device) = 6 months (check)
