EGS-01 Software Update

Issue Some EGS-01 controls may enunciate a Fault Code 196, indicating that the
minus12 Vdc supply is low and out of tolerance.

Description The EGS-01 contract manufacturer for Woodward performed a build deviation
of the internal –12V power supply coil. Analysis and testing showed that this
change did not affect the performance of the control, however an error Code
196 (–12V Low) could occur. The present software fault tolerance for the –12
Vdc power supply is ±1 volt, making the acceptable voltage range from –11 Vdc
to –13 Vdc. Since this power supply voltage is not critical, a new fault tolerance
range of –10 Vdc to –13 Vdc was implemented in the software at versions 3.02
and 3.04. Versions 3.02 and 3.04 are identical except for TecJet™ position
scaling. The EGS-01 performance is not affected no matter what position
scaling is used; the scaling is for display purposes only.

Affected Units Affected EGS-01 controls were built between 10 October 2005 and 10
September 2006.

Corrective Action New software versions 3.02 and 3.04 have been developed which changes the
threshold at which a 196 fault code is enunciated. If a 196 fault code is
experienced, please follow the customer action instructions listed below. There
is no need to return the control to Woodward for exchange or replacement of
the power supply coils.
Loading software versions 3.02 or 3.04 on a control built outside of this date
range will not have any adverse effects.

Customer Action Download new software version 3.02 or 3.04 to the EGS control. When using
the TecJet 50, version 3.02 should be used. When using the TecJet 50+,
TecJet 110, or TecJet 52, version 3.04 should be used. Follow all installation
instructions listed on the download site. Be sure to save your existing EGS
parameter settings to a disk using EGSMON version 3.00, 3.01, or 3.03 before
installing EGS application version 3.02 or 3.04.
