HISTORY WITH TATA STEEL

When Tata Steel Ijmuiden made a strategic commitment to establish cost-leadership across
its business, its Site Facilities recognized that achieving this goal would require a systematic,
effective approach. To help Tata Steel realize these ambitions Royal HaskoningDHV started by
developing a strategic policy plan for the Facilities with the aim of increasing professionalism
of maintenance and management of its assets in Ijmuiden. Together with the client, they
defined a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) outlining the strategic goals of the
organization. These KPIs were then quantified in service level agreements (SLAs) which
resulted in additional indicators for direct use in monitoring operational activity. For Tata
Steel, this marked a significant step on the path top professionalizing asset management
within the company.

Haskoning can take care of engineering, make specifications and drawings in 2D or 3D,
submit permits, and supervise the building regulations and quality. They do this with as
much attention to the big picture (the concept) as to detail, especially for large, complex
projects.

2. MATERIAL HANDLING: Tata Steel is the preferred supplier for many large players in the
Material Handling sector, which manufacture machinery used in the movement or
extraction of materials. This includes heavy construction and earth moving equipment,
mining machinery, cranes and fork lift trucks, as well as agricultural and forestry
equipment, and trailers.
Haskoning bulk handling engineering consultants and specialists are experts in the
mechanical-, electrical- (including instrumentation & automation) and civil engineering
aspects of bulk handling facilities and are highly experienced. As a multi-national company

INDIAN PROSPECT

1. AIRPORTS: To accommodate the growing population of India TATA Steel can work
together with Haskoning for airport redesigning, capacity building, warehouses for storing
imports and exports etc.

2. DOCKYARDS AND FLEET BASED BUILDINGS FOR NAVY: Haskoning along with TATA Steel
can work on dockyards and fleet based buildings including planning, detailed design,
scheduling, tendering and monitoring/site supervision during the construction period for
the entire infrastructure.

3. SERVICES LIKE IKEA: Tata with its expertise in steel and Indian manpower along with the
planning of Haskoning can help IKEA expand their stores in other cities of India. Their
warehouses are made of steel and iron, similar to those of steel houses made by TATA.
Today, reliance venturing into retail industry is also looking for steel houses for their
stores, for inexpensive, fast and hassle free installation of the building.
