Gateway Online Class

H E L LO !

Session Eleven 4th July

Hello again to the Gateway Gang!

In this document I have a written instructions to accompany the video I made for this
weeks class. I used household items for all projects so hopefully you will have some/all of
the materials at hand!

There are three options of tasks to complete this week.

I hope you are all keeping well... I have missed you!

Paper quilling
Materials needed: Coloured paper/ coloured in paper, glue, scissors.

Step 1 -  Decide on a design, for example a flower.

Step 2 -  Cut paper into even strips.

Step 3 -  Tightly roll the strips into rolls.

Step 4 - Allow these rolls to loosen slightly and use your finger tips to gently mold them into your desired shape.

Step 5 - Starting from the inside of your design out and using a generous amount of glue, glue your rolls to a page or piece of card.

Step 6 -  Repeat this until you have finished your design. These can be quite fiddly, so a tweezers can be handy.
Marbling with nail polish
Materials needed : Tub for water, some nail polish, paper. Optional plant pot.

Step 1 -  Firstly we need to cut up some paper into easy to manage sizes.

Step 2 - Fill an old tub (something that you will not be eating out of again) with water.

Step 3 - Gather some nailpolish, and chosse two or three colours which compliment each other.

Step 4 -  Sprinkle a small amount of each nail polish into your water. It will float on the top.

Step 5 - There are two ways to dip you paper into your water. 1- you can place your paper lightly on the surface or 2 - submerge the paper at a 45 degree angle.

Step 6 - Once you have done a few test sheets you can experiment with other house hold items, ie plant pots.
Nature mobile
Materials needed : String/wool, scissors. Optional: Paint.

Step 1 -  Take a walk in a park or your garden and as you go, collect a selection of leaves which have an interesting shape and one stick.

Step 2 -  When you get home, paint these leaves in bright colours and patterns and allow to dry.

Step 3 -  Wrap your stick in wool/ string.

Step 4 -  Make a handle for your stick so you can hang it up.

Step 5 -  When the paint on your leaves is dry, attach them to your stick with lengths of string/wool.
