 Structure of the Creed
The Father
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of Heaven and Earth and of all things
visible and invisible.
The Holy Spirit
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of
Life, Who proceeds from the Father; Who
with the Father and the Son together is
worshipped and glorified; Who spoke by the
prophets.

The Son
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only-
begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages. Light
of light; true God of true God; begotten, not made; of
one essence with the Father, by Whom all things were
made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down
from Heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and
the Virgin Mary, and became man. And He was crucified
for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried.
And the third day He arose again, according to the
Scriptures, and ascended into Heaven, and sits at the
right hand of the Father; and He shall come again with
glory to judge the living and the dead; Whose Kingdom
shall have no end.
The Church
In one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I
acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. I look
for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world
to come. Amen.

 How we got the Creed

 325 - Constantine the Great called together

the bishops of all the Churches to discuss the
teachings of the Church. This began the
formation of the Creed.
 381 and 431 - The bishops met again During
this time they also decided the New
Testament canon and what was to be the
Creed.

Creed = Credo
Latin - I give credence to, I place my faith in,
I see to be true, I believe.

Genesis 1:1-3
In the beginning God created the heavens
and the earth.
The earth was without form and void, and
darkness was upon the face of the deep;
and the Spirit of God was moving over the
face of the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light”; and
there was light.

 the cause of the Son is the creative cause,
through whom all things were made
 and the cause of the Spirit is the implementing
cause, in whom are all things

First He conceived,
and His conception was a work carried
out by His Word,
and perfected by His Spirit.
