4 Grammar Points
The Focus of This Lesson is Using the Conjunctions "and/with" - 랑/ -하고
아. 간장하고 소금을 넣어요.
"Oh, add soy sauce and salt."
-랑 (rang) and -하고 (hago) both mean "and, with" but we only use them with nouns and not
verbs or sentences. The conjunction that combines sentences that means "and" is 그리고 (
geurigo). We attach -랑 (rang) and -하고 (hago) to the nouns that they combine with the
following nouns. They are equally commonly used in colloquial situations and almost always
interchangeable. Therefore, Korean people tend to mix these two words in their speech
because using the same one word repeatedly can sound boring.
