STRESSED SALESWOMEN
Answer 1

From the analysis of the case we can imply that the symptoms that sally faces were that

1. She was lethargic from the constant work pressures such that one day she couldn’t go out
of her apartment for work and had to miss an appointment.
2. Also she was becoming angry by the customers who inquired the same information
repeatedly
3. Moreover she was having heated arguments and couldn’t maintain cordial relations with
her fiancée.
4. She was unable to concentrate on the training sessions but she hoped that she could be
better at understanding the new product line.
5. Lastly she was also quite irritated at all times.

ANSWER 2

Sally is stressed because of the number of factors

1. She couldn’t give time to Steve and her relationship. She couldn’t plan her wedding and
had been delaying because of work
2. Maria her boss or manager was constantly prying into her work and giving unnecessary
instructions.
3. The territory had expanded and she had to manage a lot of wok
4. New product line had been introduced for which she had to attend training sessions but
she wasn’t able to concentrate.

ANSWER 3

Definitely Sally is facing a lot of difficulty in her personal and family life and vice versa. She
can’t explain the workload and the pressure that she faces at work to her family because she
thinks they won’t understand. Her family need couldn’t support her in her view and she was
reluctant to tell them. Apart from that her relationship and wedding with Steve was another
personal issue that bothered her tremendously. She couldn’t spend enough time to talk about
their relationship and all. She was getting into arguments with her fiancée over petty issues
because of lack of understanding build up by emotional and physical stress that sally had.

While at work her manager Maria seems indifferent to her worries. Instead she kept poking her.
Hence she has no way to balance the extreme burden from her work at the company

ANSWER 4

Alternative plan.

1. I would resign from the job

Advantage

It would have relieved me from stress and I could focus on my wedding

Disadvantage

I would have to compromise on my career and goals

2. I would break my relation with Steve

Advantage

I wouldn’t have to marry and focus on work only

Disadvantage

I would be deprived of the love and support in the long run.

3. Would have taken a break and tried to relax

Advantage

It would give me time to think and relax. I would be more at ease and think about the situation.

Disadvantage

My co workers might have thought I couldn’t manage my work and was incompetent.

4. Can have consulted and told someone about my issues especially my family and fiancée
Advantage

It would have taken the pressure of my shoulders and I would have felt nice to talk to someone
about it.

Disadvantage

Maybe they wouldn’t understand and thought I was not willing to marry.

5. Tried to remain calm under stressful situations by meditating

Advantage

This would give me sense of peace

Disadvantage

It is time consuming in such a hectic schedule.

ANSWER 5

Sally will find emotional support more helpful and from her fiancée at this time. At such
important times it is our loved ones who understand us and she should have tried to arrange the
wedding at some slot where she thought she would be not as tiring as she was since the company
was expanding and she had a lot of pressure.

ANSWER 6

If I was the president of the GA firm I would have been empathetic towards her situation and if
not relieving her from all the work I would have suggested some short timing schedule or
allotted someone else her task for sometime so that she could have her wedding and enjoy.
