THE BEDROCKS OF A BLESSED FAMILY

Introduction:
Every human institution is governed by principles which must be
carefully studied with perfect understanding. Whatever must last from
generation to generation must have eternal principles even though the
methods may change because of the dynamic environment we live in.
Strategic developments can be much evolving when there are
scripturally based bedrocks to an eternally programmed structure that is
meant to bless people and God’s Kingdom eternally.
THE BEDROCKS
1. A Vision of a Blessed family is necessary!
Blessed:
- Happy family
- Prosperous family
- Favoured family
- Joyful family
- Praised family
- Well-spoken
Prov. 29:18
- Abraham
- Moses
- David
- Jesus
- Paul etc
Good vision must incorporate:
 The husband
 The wife
 The children
 Is global in scope
2. Right and adequate spiritual development must be in
place.

Ps. 11:3
 Spiritual bedrocks must include the following
a. Scriptural understanding for what marriage or family is
all about is necessary
 Know that:
 Marriage is God’s idea not a man’s idea
 Teach your children to have something
doing before marriage
 Marriage is work and determination with
supply of great and huge information
 The wife must be a “help meet” not a
parasite – ie she is a
 Suitable
 Adaptable
 Complementary
 Emotional
 Intellectual
 Dispositional
 Social partner
 Physical partner
 Marriage is responsibility for a life time

 Marriage is a life time covenant not a
brief excursion

b. Develop the ability to build up the spirit man of all the
components of the family to discern things and equally
be sensitive to spiritual matters.
Heb. 5:13-14
 This requires:
a. Ps. 1:1-3
Josh. 1:8
b. Consistent prayer life
c. Consistent worship life
d. Observe life carefully before taking decisions
e. Asking questions on things not understood.
c. Remove all obstacles, barriers, limitations and deal
with known and unknown curses and covenants in
your family.
 Prepare a glorious future for your generations
unborn – David & Moses
 Deal with all physical and spiritual bondages
and yokes of your family
 Deliberately establish the feet of your family in
Christ’s genealogy
3. Develop a balanced emotional stability among our family members
a. Teach our family:
- Not to marry for wrong reasons such as:
 Age
 Desire for sex
 Peer pressure
 Parental pressure
 Being pregnant for someone
 Social pressure
 Loneliness
 Physical features
 Pity ride
 Black-mail
 Material reasons
b. Teach them to deal with their emotional
weakness such as:
 Moodiness or lack of excitement in life
 Mediocrity
 Fear
 Lust
 Complex or low self-esteem
 Bitterness and unforgiveness
 Pessimism/critical mindedness
 Jealously and envy
 Explosive anger, wrath and domination
 Manipulation of others
 Carnal mindedness (sinful and immorality)
- Teach our family to solve their weaknesses by:
 Identify their weaknesses
 Been honest to accept their weaknesses
 Seeking God’s help in prayers for divine
intervention
 Renewing their minds with God’s word and
other resources that deal with specific arears
of their life.
 Consciously make effort to discipline
themselves and make adjustments.
