T
oamna vine cu noutăţi pe piaţa jocurilor de noroc la târgurile
de profil, organizate în Europa Centrală și de Est. Sfidând
parcă restricţiile legislative impuse în unele ţări din zonă, ma-
rii reprezentanţi ai gambling-ului mondial își prezintă produse-
le cele mai noi și mai atractive. Cum toamna se numără bo-
bocii atât operatorii, cât și iubitorii jocurilor de noroc, sunt întâmpinaţi la
toate aceste evenimente cu un spectacol inedit pentru a-și alege cele
mai interesante platforme de entertainment.
În perioada 4-6 octombrie se va desfășura la Sofia ediţia a treia a BE-
GE EXPO. Ca de obicei, vecinii noștri se întrec în a le oferi clienţilor
produse și servicii de înaltă calitate. Astfel, și pe acest segment, târgul
bulgarilor pare bine structurat și încearcă să clarifice tuturor celor impli-
caţi, direct sau indirect, care sunt oportunităţile de business ce se pot
crea aici.
Cu un spirit organizatoric dezvoltat, bulgarii au intuit bine că un eveni-
ment trebuie să ofere o mare diversitate vizitatorilor, astfel au introdus
secţiunile de divertisment, gaming, turism, securitate și supraveghere,
platforme de informare audio/video, dar și food & beverage.
Desfășurat în perioada 14-16 octombrie, SUREXPO a ajuns la ediţia cu
numărul nouă și oferă pieţei poloneze, aflate sub presiunea legislaţiei
din această ţară, posibilitatea să se adapteze nevoilor jucătorilor săi.
Polonezii au peste 150 de firme care expun produse dintre cele mai
diverse de la vending machines până la simulatoare și aduc expozanţi
de pe patru continente, din ţări precum Marea Britanie, Germania, Irlan-
da, Taiwan sau Australia. Cu un număr atât de ridicat de expozanţi, po-
lonezii ignoră restricţiile impuse pe acest segment și încearcă să-și
menţină cota de afaceri și să ofere divertisment publicului dedicat. Iar
pasiunea conaţionalilor lor pentru jocurile de noroc îi determină să fie
din ce în ce mai inovatori, înfruntând astfel legislaţia mai puţin priete-
noasă cu această latură a entertainment-ului.
Târgul organizat de români, Entertainment Arena Expo, ajuns la cea de-
a patra ediţie, își propune ca în acest an să împartă expoziţia pe doua
segmente principale: Gaming și Amuzament. Și la noi vor fi prezente
multe nume sonore din piaţa mondială de profil, precum Novomatic sau
Alfastreet și chiar și o delegaţie asiatică. Cei 70 de exponzanţi vor în-
cerca în cele trei zile să atragă prin produsele lor, cu o tehnologie de
ultimă oră, cât mai mulţi jucători.
Toate aceste evenimente demonstrează că istoria pieţei de gaming din
Europa Centrală și de Est este departe de a-și scrie ultimele pagini, ba
mai mult, caută să se revigoreze, să depășească barierele unei legislaţii
mai puţin favorabile și chiar să găsească noi modalităţi de abordare a
businessului în regiune și, totodată, să atragă cât mai mulţi vizitatori.
Revista ”Casino Inside” va fi prezentă la toate aceste trei târguri de pro-
fil cu scopul de a susţine cât mai mult cu putinţă piaţa de gaming, în ge-
neral, și pe cea românească, în particular.

utumn arrives with news on the gambling market at
the fairs, organized in Central and Eastern Europe.
As though they are defying legislative restrictions
imposed in some countries in the region, the major
representatives of gambling world present their la-
test and attractive products. As in autumn buds are counting,
both operators and gaming enthusiasts are welcomed to all the-
se events and shows never seen before to choose the most in-
teresting entertainment platforms.
Between the 4th and the 6th of October the third edition of the
BEGE EXPO will take place in Sofia. As usual, our neighbors ra-
ce to offer customers high quality products and services. Thus,
and in this segment, the show seems well structured and the
Bulgarians are trying to clarify for all those involved, directly or
indirectly, the business opportunities that can be created here.
Having a great intuition on organizing and managing things, the
Bulgarians have guessed right: an event must offer a wide vari-
ety of visitors, and they have introduced sections such as en-
tertainment, gaming, tourism, security and surveillance, infor-
mation platform audio / video, and also food & beverage.
Between October 14 and 16, SUREXPO is now at its ninth editi-
on; it provides the Polish market, at the moment under law pre-
ssure, the possibility to adapt to the needs of its players.
The Poles have over 150 companies exhibiting the great num-
ber of products from vending machines to simulators; they will
present exhibitors from four continents, from countries such as
England, Germany, Ireland, Taiwan and Australia. With so many
exhibitors, Poles ignore restrictions imposed to this segment
and they are trying to maintain the business and to provide en-
tertainment to their loyal public. The passion for gambling of
their local people determines the development of other pro-
ducts, thus defying the law less friendly with this side of the
entertainment.
The fair organized this year by the Romanian Entertainment
Arena Expo, at its fourth edition, intends to divide the exhibition
into two main segments: Gaming and Entertainment. Here there
will also be presented several important names of the gaming
and entertainment market, as Novomatic or Alfastreet and even
an Asian delegation. The 70 exhibitors will try to attract as
many players as possible with their latest high technology pro-
ducts.
All these events show that the history of the gaming market in
Central and Eastern Europe is far from ending; even more, they
are really trying to bring back to life, to overcome the legislati-
on, not too friendly these days, and even to find new modalities
for attracting the business to this region and also to attract mo-
re visitors.
„Casino Inside” Magazine will be present at the three trade fairs
in order to support as much as possible the gaming market, in
general, and the Romanian one, in particular.

jucat toate formele posibile de poker: cash, stts, mtts. De altfel, în ulti-
mii trei ani, m-am axat numai de turnee live care îţi oferă o satisfacţie
şi o faimă aparte. De aceea, am investit foarte mult timp şi încerc mai
departe să acumulez experienţă pentru a câştiga un turneu de anver-
gură cât mai repede posibil. Deja joc poker profesionist de trei ani şi
ar cam fi timpul să realizez acest vis. În paralel cu turneele live am mai
concurat şi în turneele on-line sau cash, dar la acestea din urmă am
ieşit puţin din circuit pentru că nu m-am putut ocupa zi de zi. Prefer să
mă axez pe un singur lucru ca să fiu cel mai bun, aşa că turneele live
rămân prioritare pentru mine. Restul sunt auxiliare pentru că nu pot
sta degeaba. Îmi place mult prea mult ceea ce fac, îmi place prea mult
pokerul!
Ţi-ai dezvoltat nişte abilităţi anume pentru turneele live?
Da, într-adevăr! Dacă stau atâta timp printre cei mai buni şi joc la
foarte multe mese, încerc să prind ceva strategie. Spre exemplu, dacă

the last three years I have chosen to participate to live tournaments
only. There is no greater satisfaction and fame but live tournaments.
That is the reason why I have invested a long period of time in rea-
ching more experience and I am still storing the necessary knowledge
in order to win a poker event as soon as possible. I have been playing
professional poker for three years now and I think this is the right time
to fulfill my dream. Simultaneous with playing live tournaments, I have
also competed within on line or cash tournaments, but I have left them
behind, since I didn’t have the time to play every day. I prefer to focus
on one thing only- to be the best, therefore live tournaments remain
the priority for me.
Have you developed certain abilities for live tournaments?
Yes, of course. I spend a lot of time next to the best players, I play
on many tables, and I try to “steal” strategy. For example, until last year
the professional players used to adopt the tribets on different positi-
ons and styles, but lately they have changed the strategy and started

focusing on playing flops, making back call on open-raiser. Then they
continue playing the flop or eventually the turn. In other words, they
don’t play a decisive shove - all in - all in hand; they prefer keeping the
pot under control and make an endurance game, in order for the wea-
kest player to give up eventually. They wait for the opponent’s mistake.
Within the 5 days marathon tournaments the most important things
are patience and endurance; the strategies are different every day. It is
very important to note and observe the weakest players, to know how
to isolate them by playing as many pots as possible. With the aggressi-
ve and good players, it is important to keep the pots under control, not
to play a decisive hand; it would be too soon within a tournament. At
the end of the first day and the beginning of the second one, the
steals and re-steals begin, since the average reduces to 50-60 blinds.
You have to be aware of your image, of the way the others see you,
because the game becomes even harder. The professional players wi-
th big stacks start putting pressure on the game.

You have adopted quite an aggressive style within WSOP, eli-

minating many players…
Yes, this is true, I have been aggressive, except for the final table,
when I preferred to create image, to stay reserved. For example, when
the game becomes short-handed I start playing because I feel advan-
taged. I have been active during day two, I had good spot cards,
everything was ok, I did not hesitate to gamble with the others when I
felt they were not behind and eliminated them.

What is the “magic formula” for a poker champion?

Discipline, responsibility, a little talent- the talent is not the most im-
portant element, since through hard work the goal may be reached-
and not at least, patience.

flop-ul, eventual turn-ul. Cu alte cuvinte, nu mai joacă decisiv o mână
shove - all in - all in, ci preferă să ţină potul sub control şi să fie mai
mult un joc de anduranţă, astfel încât cel mai slab să cedeze în cele
din urmă. Se aşteaptă greşeala adversarului. În turneele-maraton de
câte cinci zile rezistenţa şi răbdarea sunt esenţiale, însă strategiile
sunt diferite pentru fiecare zi. E important să-ţi dai seama care sunt
jucătorii mai slăbuţi, trebuie să ştii să-i izolezi jucând cât mai multe po-
turi cu aceştia. Cu jucătorii buni şi agresivi trebuie să ţii poturile sub
control, să nu te implici la o mână decisivă pentru că ar fi prea devre-
me într-un turneu. La sfârşitul primei zile de turneu spre a doua încep
stealurile şi restealurile pentru că se coboară la 50-60 de blinder-uri
media. Trebuie să fii conştient de imaginea pe care o ai în ochii celor-
lalţi jucători de la masă pentru că jocul devine foarte greu. Jucătorii
profesionişti cu stack-uri mari încep să pună presiune pe joc.

la joc pentru că simt că am
un avantaj faţă de cei de la
masă. Am fost activ în ziua a
doua, am beneficiat de cărţi
bune, de spot-uri, a fost totul
ok şi nu am ezitat să iau gam-
ble cu ceilalţi când am simţit
că nu sunt în spate, eliminân-
du-i.

Care e formula de câştig

de poker?
Diciplină, seriozitate, puţin
talent – acesta poate fi omis,
întrucât, prin multă muncă,
poţi să-ţi îndeplineşti obiecti-
vul – şi, nu în ultimul rând,
răbdarea.
Ţie ce crezi că-ţi lipseş-
te pentru a ajunge la nive-
lul maxim?
Cred că, în anumite momente cheie, e nevoie de foarte puţină... ne-
bunie ca să ieşi din tipare, să-ţi creezi o altă imagine în aşa fel încât
să-i poţi surprinde pe ceilalţi. Dar cel mai important e să-ţi şi reuşeas-
că şi dacă o faci şi într-un moment nepotrivit e posibil să regreţi, risi-
pindu-se într-o clipă toată munca. Repet, trebuie să ştii cu exactitate
când trebuie să le faci!
Poate că cel mai bine pentru mine ar fi să încerc să nu mai iau
competiţia cu cineva de la masă şi la modul personal. Lucrez foarte
mult să îndrept acest aspect, psihic vorbind. De multe ori, când văd
un jucător bun la masă care încearcă să intre peste mutările mele şi
nu mai pot să joc nimic, încep să iau confruntarea la modul personal,
jucând mai decisiv şi făcând mutări care mă împing la greşeli. În ast-
fel de situaţii contează foarte mult un echilibru al psihicului, să ştii să
schimbi treptele şi să joci un joc total diferit de ceea ce obişnuiai să
faci. Într-un cuvânt – adaptabilitate. Tocmai în asta constă frumuseţea
şi complexitatea pokerului.
Ce aduce în plus în cariera ta parteneriatul cu Full Tilt Po-
ker?
Mă bucur că fac parte din echipa Full Tilt pentru că mie îmi plac
foarte mult competiţiile şi vreau să fiu cât mai sus. Mă motivează şi
mai mult lucrul acesta. Vreau să ajung unul din jucătorii lor de top şi
să am unele dintre cele mai bune rezultate la nivel global.
Is there something else you need in order to reach the hi-
ghest level?
I think in certain key moments you need a little bit of …craziness for
going beyond the limits, to create another image that can surprise the
others. The most important thing is to succeed, but if you do it in an
inappropriate moment it is possible to have regrets, wasting the entire
work until that moment within just a second. I say it again; you have to
know the exact moment for each step!
Maybe the best thing for me to do is try not to take the table com-
petition too personal. I work a lot with myself to get rid of this feeling.
Many times, when I see a good player who is trying to step in my mo-
ves and leaves me with nothing to play, I start taking the competition
as a personal matter, playing more decisive and making moves that
push me to doing mistakes. In this situation, the physical balance is
very important; you have to know how to change the levels and the en-
tire style you were used to. One word- adaptability. This is the beauty
and complexity of poker.
What’s the novelty of the partnership with Full Tilt Poker in yo-
ur career?
I am glad to be a part of Full Tilt Team; I really love competitions and
I want to reach the highest level. This partnership motivates me. I want
to be a top player with the best results on a world scale.

Ce face Mihai Manole când nu e la masa de joc?
Îmi place foarte mult să joc tenis şi pentru asta abia aştept să mă
întorc în ţară. N-aş putea să aleg să fac fitness pentru că mie îmi plac
competiţiile, îmi place să ştiu că există ceva pentru care merită să de-
pun efort. Îmi mai place, de asemenea, fotbalul.
What is Mihai Manole doing when not playing?
I enjoy playing tennis a lot and this is the reason I am willing to co-
me back home. For example, I could not choose fitness, I am a compe-
titor, I like competitions, I like knowing there is something I have to
struggle for, make an effort for winning. I also enjoy football.

Că veni vorba de tenis, cu cine ţii? Roger Federer sau Rafael
Nadal?
Federer pentru că e serios şi a rezistat foarte mult timp pe primul
loc cu un procentaj semnificativ de victorii. Amândoi sunt practic niş-
te legende în sportul alb, dar îl prefer pe Federer.
Speaking of tennis, which one is your favorite: Roger Federer
or Rafael Nadal?
Federer is a serious player; he kept his first position on top with a
great number of victories. Both of them are practically legends of the
white sport, but I prefer Federer.

Casino di Venezia, cel mai vechi edificiu de
profil din lume, are şi astăzi porţile deschise
pentru publicul amator de jocuri de noroc.
Deschis în 1638, cazinoul a atras întotdeau-
na oaspeţi din toată lumea. O infinită emoţie,
aşa descriu această capodoperă arhitectura-
lă reprezentanţii Casino di Venezia. Pentru
cei care îşi doresc o călătorie în timp, acesta
este locul unde pot descoperi splendoarea
arhitectonică din secolul al XV-lea.
Orice mână jucată spune o poveste. Pala-
tul Ca’ Vendramin Calergi, care găzduieşte şi
Casino di Venezia, datează de la începutul
Renaşterii. Un secol și jumătate mai târziu a
fost deschis şi primul cazinou din lume. Cu
stilul său architectural distins, palatul a găz-
duit figuri marcante de-a lungul secolelor. De
asemenea, Ca’ Vendramin Calergi, situat pe
Canalul Grande din Veneţia, a fost şi locul
unde renumitul Richard Wagner, unul dintre
cei mai de seamă reprezentanţi ai romantis-
mului muzical, şi-a petrecut ultimele luni din
viaţă. Astăzi, în cinstea lui, unele încăperi au
fost transformate în muzeu. În 1995, sala de
la mezanin a fost încredinţată Asociaţiei Ri-

di Venetia, has its roots back in the renaissan-
ce period. A century later, the first casino in
the world opened its doors. With a luxurious
architectural style, the palace has hosted im-
portant personalities of the century and the
ones that followed. Ca’ Vendramin Calergi,
placed on Grande Canal in Venice, has been
the place where the well known Richard Wag-
ner, one of the most important representatives
of the romanticism, has spent his last days of
his life. Today, on his behalf, some of the ro-
oms have become museum. In 1995, the mez-
zanine has been offered to Richard Wagner
Association in Venice. The museum is opened
for the public to the everlasting memory of the
composer and his love for Venice.

cunosc de cel puţin trei ani,care din punctul meu de vedere știu să pri-
vească munca într-un mod corect și care sunt capabili să înceapă orice
activitate și să o ducă la bun sfârșit, indiferent de domeniu. Evoluţia
companiei li se datoarează într-o foarte mare măsură.
Care consideraţi că sunt principalele atuuri pe care le deţine
compania dumneavoastră pentru a face faţă concurenţei?
În primul rând, parteneriatul nostru cu GTECH, membră a grupului Lo-
tomatica, unul dintre cei mai mari operatori din piaţa de profil din lume,
al căror know-how și experienţă ne conferă încrederea în reușită. În al
doilea rând, acţionariatul, care are o vastă experienţă în management și

Până la ce nivel sunteţi dispuși să vă ridicaţi standardele?
Ne-am propus să fim lideri pe piaţa pariurilor din România în 2014. Și
sunt convins că vom ajunge la acest nivel, datorită celor trei atuuri men-
ţionate. Suntem conștienţi, însă, că pentru a ne atinge scopul vom în-
tâmpina dificultăţi, cărora suntem pregătiţi să le facem faţă.
Care credeţi că sunt principalele probleme cu care se confrun-

dumneavoastră pentru depășirea acestor impedimente?
Nivelul taxelor, mult prea ridicat pentru nivelul pieţei în acest moment,
face ca supravieţuirea operatorilor să depindă direct de conturile lor. Mai
exact, consider că în această perioadă cine are bani rezistă, cine nu are
dispare de pe piaţă. Din această cauză cred că activitatea pe acest seg-

Where did the Bet Cafe Arena
idea originated from?
In the beginning of 2010 we noticed
that in Romania there wasn’t the con-
cept that I was talking about. The Romanians who wanted to bet were
visiting the betting agencies, took the offers and they were meeting in
the pub to discuss around them. Then they were coming back to the
agencies to place their bets and got back to the pub to watch the games.
Practically, the bets were made into a place that wasn’t at all related to

peoples lives and leave the taboo area were they are still situa-
ted at times? And why?
Time will prove that this segment of gambling won’t be considered
taboo. In England for instance, the bet is an alternative to spending
one’s free time. We will also try to change the Romanian’s mentality to-
ward this. Gambling should be regarded differently because since for
the client is representing entertaining, this is not a danger. Only if they
are perceived as a mean of earning one’s living, then it becomes a pro-
blem. Bet Cafe Arena seeks that bets and gambling in general to be
regarded as means of entertaining, so that, without spending large

How do you consider that you must manage the bets in Ro-
mania in order to be in the top of the profile market?
We will direct all our efforts into the operating excellency and diffe-
rentiating products. Regarding operating excellency, we tried to insuf-
flate a different approach on the employer – employee relationship, and
our staff understood that it must treat the work within the agency as it’s
own business, as this is the only road to evolution. As for the products, I
can tell that we strongly trust that together with the professional team
from GTECH we will succeed to offer to the Romanian client what he/
she desires. The Romanian client is a special one, to whom we must
grant a great deal of attention and products on the heights of his ex-

cele mai vechi bulevarde ale Bucureștiului, o bucată de istorie, găzduia,
începând cu secolul al XIX-lea, clădirile monumentale ale unor iluștri

orașul care a fost odinioară numit “Micul Paris”. În această categorie se

The passion of Cesianu family for refined architecture is brought
to light by the 5 houses in Bucharest that once belonged to the
aristocrat family. The office of the Romanian Academy, the former
Casino Victoria and the house on Calea Victoriei no.151 are now
on the list of the historic monuments 2004. These architectural
masterpieces prove the delicacy of the family for good taste.
Well known for the bohemian atmosphere, the edifice on Calea
Victoriei no. 174 hosted, after 1990, unprecedented press confe-
rences, as well as major cultural events, as the Awards of the Wri-
ters’ Union of Romania. The refined architectural style of the buil-
ding attacted the admiration of many personalities, on local as well
as on international level. Some say that the king of pop, Michael
Jackson, was one of the guests of Casino Victoria. The visit of the
pop star took place in 1996, when he had his second concert in
Romania.
The representatives of The City Hall in Bucharest declared to

Mai are Ion Oncescu și timp pentru poker?
Câteodată, mai ales noaptea. Este o perioadă destul de agitată
pentru mine și am multe alte idei pe care le pun în practică, în afara
celor din cadrul orelor de antrenament.
Ce părere ai de proiectul 45Bet?
Nu aș fi acceptat colaborarea cu 45Bet în mai puţin de 15 secunde
dacă nu aș fi crezut în proiectul lor. Nevoia de divertisment crește in-
variabil, ca o formă de contracarare a stresului și pokerul online este

I have received a proposal and accepted it with a lot of curiosity and
pleasure. I think that I was fated as since being a child, my parents told
me that, unlike the other children of my age, my first words waren’t
‚mom and dad’, but ‚pass, pass’. (laughs)
Have you ever had a connection before with the game at
cards?
I play poker with pleasure, and my father is very passionate of the
bridge game. He is participating at competitions on a weekly basis. He
was playing so much, that we got to hate him for that, both me and my
mom (laughs again). He has passed to me some of that passion, but I
will only play for pleasure. For as long as my arms hold me, still the arm
wrestling will be my number one.
Have the poker and the arm wrestling have anything in com-
mon?
Frustratingly, many things. Everybody thinks that the only thing you
need is a strong arm. Of course this is essential. But you also need a
strategy and tactics, not mentioning here the luck. The audience sees
only the arm force and in poker just the luck. These two sports could
seem complementary by association, but they aren’t.
Has Ion Oncescu got time for poker?
Sometimes, especially at night. That’s a pretty agitated period of time
for me and I have so many other ideas that I put into practice, apart
from my training time.

What do you think of 45Bet project?

I wouldn’t have accepted the collaboration with 45Bet in less then
15 seconds if I wouldn’t believed in their project. The need for entertai-
ning is unchangingly growing into a form of fighting stress and online
poker is an excellent mode of relaxation. I know there are also precon-
ceived ideas towards poker, but slowly, they will vanish, just like 15
years ago when I won the national champion title for the first time
when arm wrestling was associated with sailors and convicts. I think it’s
so important and beneficial that a sport, no matter which one, should
have a professional side, that involves money, because only then one
can reach spectacular levels of performance.

Unul dintre cei mai buni jucători români de poker live, Toni Ju-
deţ va da sfaturi concurenţilor de la cel mai mare show de poker

Cine îi va ajuta pe concurenţi la Clubul de Poker?
Cel care va da sfaturi concurenţilor este românul cu cea mai bună
performanţă în cadrul World Series of Poker, cea mai mare competiţie
mondială de poker Texas Hold’em. Toni Judeţ a fost ultimul român scos
din cursă, reușind să se claseze pe locul 23, cu suma adjudecată de
peste 250.000 de dolari. Tot în 2008, Toni Judeţ a mai câștigat locul I la
EPT Grand Final de la Monte Carlo, iar în februarie 2009 a fost liderul
clasamentului la Evenimentul Principal CAPT Bregenz Open, desfășurat
în Austria. În 2010 acesta s-a clasat pe locul 10 la EPT Snowfest,

2010, au șansa să devină unul dintre concurenţii care vor juca în acest
show. Pentru a participa la concurs candidaţii trebuie să ajungă în faza
de casting, jucând în oricare dintre turneele organizate de PokerStars.
net, devenind astfel unul dintre cei patru calificaţi online participanţi la
Clubul de Poker. La aceste turnee poate juca orice persoană majoră cu
rezidenţa în România.
Odată ajunși în faza de casting, 75 de jucători vor fi invitaţi de produ-
cătorul show-ului la selecţia live, în urma căreia trei dintre ei vor fi selec-
taţi pentru a întra în faza a doua a concursului. Selecţia live va fi înregis-
trată și va reprezenta un episod distinct al Clubului de Poker. Ulterior,
toţi cei care s-au calificat într-una dintre finalele săptămânale, cu excep-
ţia celor trei selectaţi pentru faza a doua a show-ului, vor fi invitaţi să se
întreacă încă o dată, joi, 4 noiembrie, pentru a putea juca direct în Marea
Finală, ultimul episod al competiţiei televizate.

from Romania. Poker Club offers for free to the qualified online
poker tours contestants the chance of substantial winnings. At
this unique show the participants will play poker against re-
nowned Romanian stars.
Who will help the contestants at the Poker Club?
The one counseling the competitors is the Romanian with the
best performance at the Word Series of Poker, the biggest internati-
onal Texas Hold’em poker competition. Toni Judeţ was the last to
leave, managing to clime onto the 23 position, wining over 250.000
dollars. Again in 2008, Toni Judeţ has won the first place at EPT
Grand Final from Monte Carlo, and in February 2009 was the leader
in the Main Event CAPT Bregenz Open, in Austria. In 2010 he obtai-
ned the 10th place at EPT Snowfest, Hinterglemm from Austria.
Toni Judeţ joined PokerStars team, becoming the first PokerStars
Team Pro Romania player. Although with remarkable results in so
many competitions, the professional poker player considers he has
still a lot to learn.
Toni Judet began playing poker five years ago, in a Bucharest ca-
sino. Currently he spends at least eight hours a day playing poker
both live, during competitions, and online at PokerStars.com. He is
also well known for his good results in billiard, as he was many times
national champion with many important international victories. The
experience from this field helped him in the mind sport, as he was
used to high stakes matches and also the required concentration
during competitions.
Eligible candidates for The Poker Club
Anyone playing in the qualifying tours organized by PokerStars.
net free of entry fee during 20 September – 24 October 2010, has
the chance of becoming one of the contestants that will play in this
show. In order to participate, the competitors must reach the casting
phase by playing in any tours organized PokerStars.net, becoming
thus one of the four online qualified participants at the Poker Club.
At these tours can play any person over 18 resident in Romania.
Once in the casting phase, 75 players will be invited by the show
producer to the live section, where three of them will be selected to
enter the second phase of the contest. The live selection will be re-
corded and will represent a distinct episode of The Poker Club. Sub-
sequently, all those qualified in one of the weekly finals, with the ex-
ception of the three selected for the second phase of the show, will
be invited to play once more, Thursday, 4 November, in order to play
directly in The Big Final, the last episode of the televised show.

Total FM, Andy Stănescu, cu o vastă experienţă în presa centrală,
și-a atras adesea publicul prin stilul său incisiv. Jurnalistul a pus
pe tabela de marcaj mai multe probleme spinoase cu care se
confruntă România și dă un cartonaș roșu autorităţilor pentru
modul în care abordează situaţia, inclusiv în gambling.
Cum a început aventura voastră la radio? Cum ţi-ai început tu
cariera în presă?
Primul contact cu presa a fost cred că prin 1990, când vindeam ziare
la Piaţa Universităţii. Acest tip de presă avea o anumită coloratură și
spunea ”Măi, dragă”. În acea perioadă nu aveam distribuţie și ne împăr-
ţeam noi ziarele, strângeam banii și cu ce se strângea, tipăream încă un
rând. Toată această activitate a durat până pe 13 iunie.
Cum era presa acelor vremuri?
Multă. (râde) Presa era multă și proastă. Acum s-a mai împuţinat, dar
nu s-a schimbat prea mult din punct de vedere calitativ.
Având în vedere faptul că presa actuală s-a cam împărţit în do-
uă categorii, cea aservită puterii, și cea deservită publicului, în ce

through his incisive style. The journalist laid down on the board a
few painful problems with which Romania deals and issues a red
card to the authorities for the way of tackling this situation, in-
cluding gambling.
How did your radio adventure begin? How did your press ca-
reer start?
My first contact with the press was, I think, in 1990, when I was sel-
ling newspapers in the University Square. This type of press had a cer-
tain coloring and was saying ” Oh, dear”. At that time we were lacking
distribution and we had to deliver the newspapers ourselves, collected
the money and with the earnings we were printing another round. All
of this activity lasted until 13 June.
How was the press of those times?
A lot (laughs). The press was plentiful and bad. Nowadays it has re-
duced, but hasn’t changed much quality wise.

goria presă deservită, pentru că dacă am fi fost aserviţi, probabil că nici
nu am fi existat. Avem însă și unele compensaţii, atunci când lucrezi
pentru o companie mai mică, aflată la început de drum, nu te sună ni-
meni și nu-ţi spune nimeni ce să zici și ce nu, acesta este avantajul nos-
tru. Însă, din punct de vedere financiar, ne facem și nouă un deserviciu,
și din punct de vedere profesional, la fel. (râde)
Ţinând cont de publicul numeros pe care îl aveţi, cum l-aţi de-
fini?
Avem un public captiv. Publicul român este captiv pentru că nu are
alternativă. La noi presa este, în general, de proastă calitate, le cer ierta-
re colegilor de breaslă, dar și ei știu foarte bine ce fac, și publicaţiile
străine nu ajung, de regulă, la noi, iar dacă ajung nu are cine să le ci-
tească. Astfel, publicul nostru devine captiv. În curând nu va mai avea
cine să le citească și pe acestea publicate în limba română și vom ră-

Regarding the fact that the current press has divided into two
categories, the one serving the power and the one serving the
public, in which category you fit?
I think we rather fit in the second category, the one serving the large
public, firstly, because we are not tackling things too seriously most of
the times. As, neither football nor sport for all that matter, are not offe-
ring dead serious talking subjects, especially on the inside level. I think
we rather fit into the serving press category, because if we were the
obedient press, most probably we wouldn’t have existed in the first pla-
ce. We have nonetheless some compensation when you work for a
smaller company which is at the beginning of the road, nobody calls to
dictate what to and what not to say, this is our advantage. However,
financially wise, we are making ourselves also a disadvantage, profes-
sionally wise too (laughs)
Taking into consideration the large public that you have, how
would you define it?
We have a captive public. Especially the Romanian public is captive
as it has no alternative. We have, in general, a bad quality press, and
with this occasion I ask for forgiveness from my colleagues in the pre-
ss, bur they know very well what they are doing and also the foreign
publications are not reaching, normally, to us, and if they do, there is
nobody to read them. Thus, our public becomes captive. Shortly, there
will be no way to read them translated into Romanian and there will be
left just us, the pensioners (laughs)
What’s your opinion on gambling in Romania?
The Gambling is taboo. And we shouldn’t associate it with prostituti-
on or drugs, because it represents a way of spending one’s time in a
pleasant manner, especially when a winning is involved. And this seg-
ment deserves a proper treatment as it is a fabulous source of income
in many civilized countries and, as we need money, we can produce
revenue legally through gambling, especially when there is a huge de-
mand on the market. We also have professional poker players which
is a positive aspect. Romania has a history with this as the casinos
started here in about the same period of time as throughout Europe.
Bucharest has earned the ”Little Paris” title because it had the same
”joie de vivre”, which you could also find in Paris. You could find
everywhere coffee houses, casinos and places where people could
relax and chill in a pleasant atmosphere. I saw that now too the casi-
nos attract people but, for now at least, the living standard is very low
in Romania. We could very well earn this side of entertainment also
through association with the tourism industry, in which it hasn’t been
too much invested into unfortunately.
How is a day of your life?
Excepting the fact that I can manage to leave two or three day a
year at the seaside, the rest is pretty boring. Like in any job, and mine
is no exception, in Romania you get the feeling that there’s no reason
in doing it and you’re not doing anything and what you do fells into the
wrong hands and consequently there no capacity to process the infor-
mation. It’s hard to choose and difficult to figure which way to take as
long as your fridge is empty. From this point of view, the days are bo-
ring, in general, for everybody. We’re lucky we do what we like and this
has became a rarity in Romania as the Romanians don’t do what they

se poate de plăcută. Am văzut că și acum cazinourile au priză la oameni,
dar, deocamdată, nivelul de trai este foarte scăzut în România. Am pu-
tea câștiga foarte bine din această latură a entertainment-ului și prin
asociere cu turismul, în care, însă, nu prea s-a investit la noi.
Cum se desfășoară o zi din viaţa ta?
Cu excepţia faptului că reușesc să plec câte două-trei zile pe an, la
mare de obicei, pe litoralul nostru, în rest sunt plictisitoare zilele. Ca în
orice meserie, și în asta, în România ai senzaţia că o faci degeaba pen-
tru că nu faci nici tu nimic și nici ce vrei tu nu ajunge la cine trebuie și
cum trebuie fiindcă românul nici nu mai are acum capacitatea să proce-
seze informaţiile. E greu să alegi și e greu să îţi dai seama pe ce drum
ar trebui să mergi, atâta vreme cât nu ai ce pune pe masă. Din punctul
ăsta de vedere, zilele sunt plictisitoare, în general, pentru toată lumea.
Norocul nostru este că facem ce ne place și asta a devenit o raritate în
România pentru că mulţi români fac ce nu le place, întrucât nu au de
ales. Noi nu avem nicio piaţă a muncii, nu avem mediu de afaceri deloc,
dat fiind faptul că statul strânge de gât. Chiar a făcut un economist un
calcul la un post de televiziune și a constatat că dacă un agent econo-
mic care lucrează în comerţul cu amănuntul și-ar plăti absolut toate dă-

Is there anything good in Romania? How do you explain?
Apart from people, at present, there’s nothing good in Romania. Hu-
man resource we still have, not all the talented people left the country,
moreover some of them, from difficult to understand reasons, began to
return, and other can’t leave because they have families, friends, busi-
nesses here and sunk too much into this everyday life that they can’t
leave. But these resources aren’t exploited properly. And the most spo-
ken durable development strategy should take into consideration, first-
ly, the human resources. Only like that Romania can be re-professiona-
lized. Fundamentally, the man gives the place gratitude. You can have a
very bad product that can be sold quite well by skilled people, not the
reverse. In fact, we never lacked this chapter. Sadly, for the next three
or four decades I can’t foresee anything good.
Do you think we will ever have a system that would ever dis-
regard the political changes? Why?
We were disadvantaged by our location too – I’m looking for excu-
ses now although I normally don’t. We haven’t had the chance to keep
the pace with the great western nations. For instance, England in the
Middle Eve was a rather small country, with little population, but they
had more then one factor that helped forming the nation. We aren’t yet
a nation, but mere a people, because we lack civic conscience, charac-
ter, hence the need of a master, a great leader to guide us even if we
fear him, without him we can’t live. It has always been like that. Could
be hundreds of years to pass until we could develop so much that we
assimilate only what’s good, not the reverse. We borrowed the Eastern
habits, not the Western ones, except for logic. We will always be in ne-
ed of a ” dad” of the nation, this explains the fact that Ion Iliescu lead
this country for almost 20 years, and should Traian Basescu ran for

În afară de oameni, în momentul de faţă, nu e nimic bun în România.
Resurse umane încă mai avem, nu au plecat chiar toţi oamenii talentaţi,
ba chiar unii dintre ei, din motive greu de înţeles, au început să se în-
toarcă, iar alţii nici nu mai pot pleca pentru că au familii, prieteni, busine-
ssuri aici și s-au amestecat prea mult în banalul ăsta cotidian încât nu
mai pot pleca. Resursele astea nu sunt, însă, exploatate. Iar strategia de
dezvoltare durabilă, despre care tot vorbesc autorităţile, ar trebui să ţină
cont, în primul rând, de resursele umane. Numai așa poate fi reprofesio-
nalizată România. În fond, omul sfinţește locul. Poţi să ai un produs
foarte prost, dar pe care să-l vinzi foarte bine dacă ai oameni pricepuţi,
invers nu. De fapt, noi nu am stat niciodată prost la acest capitol. În rest,
nu văd nimic bun, nici pentru următoarele trei-patru decenii.
Crezi că vom avea vreodată un sistem care să nu ţină cont de
schimbările politice? De ce?
Aici ne-a dezavantajat și zona, acum caut și eu scuze, deși, de obicei,
nu o fac. Noi nu am avut șansa să ne dezvoltăm în același ritm cu marile
naţiuni din Vest. De exemplu, Anglia în Evul Mediu era o ţară mică, cu o
populaţie mică, dar la ei a fost un cumul de factori, care au format naţiu-
nea asta, noi încă nu suntem o naţiune, ci doar un popor, pentru că nu
avem conștiinţă civică, ne lipsește caracterul, de aceea și simţim nevoia
să avem întotdeauna un jupân, marele stăpân, care să ne îndrume, chiar
dacă ne e frică de el, fără el nu putem trăi. Așa
am fost dintotdeauna. Nu știu câte sute de ani
vor mai trece până când vom ajunge să ne
dezvoltăm atât de mult încât să asimilăm doar
ce e mai bun, nu ce e mai prost. Noi am luat
doar dinspre Est, dinspre Vest nu prea am luat
nimic, cu excepţia logisticii. Întotdeauna vom
avea nevoie de un ”tătuca”, așa se explică și
faptul că Ion Iliescu a condus ţara aproape 20
de ani, iar Traian Băsescu dacă va mai candi-
da, va câștiga din nou.

revolution!”. Do you believe in the possibility of a social revoluti-
on or revolt into the Romanian conscience? Why?
No. On one hand because the Romanian doesn’t revolt but in his
own kitchen, like for instance if the soup is cold, he will lay his anger
upon his wife or he exhibits his indignation over a beer with his friends.
On the other hand, the criterion for this kind of revolt has no longer
met as the age of social tremors is over. Twenty years ago maybe was
something of this type, even if it wasn’t a proper revolt, bur mere a
consequence of the Cold War. We used to be a part of a certain politi-
cal block, the civilized countries were forming a different block and the
disappearance of the communism was inevitable. We had another fa-
vorable moment in the XIX century, but back then was the waking time
for the peoples and got carried away. We also had people who were
educated in the West, at Berlin, Paris, some in London, but now not
any more, those times are gone. Nowadays everything is a business
and we have to adapt and produce, but Romania hasn’t produced
anything since inter-war period and it’s no wonder that we’ve reached
this point.

soluţie, o nouă revoluţie!”. Crezi în posibi-
litatea unei revoluţii sociale sau a unei re-
volte în conștiinţa românului? De ce?
Nu, pe de o parte pentru că românul nu se
revoltă decât la el în bucătărie, eventual dacă
e ciorba rece, și își varsă tot năduful pe nevas-
tă, sau își manifestă indignarea în prezenţa
prietenilor la o bere, iar pe de altă parte nu
mai sunt întrunite condiţiile pentru așa ceva
fiindcă s-a cam terminat epoca frământărilor
sociale. Acum 20 de ani se putea face ceva,
chiar dacă nu a fost o revoltă, ci doar o conse-
cinţă a Războiului Rece. Noi făceam parte din-
tr-un bloc politic, ţările civilizate erau membre-
le altui bloc și era inevitabilă dispariţia
comuniștilor. Am mai avut un moment bun în
secolul al XIX-lea, dar atunci era perioada în
care se trezeau popoarele din somn, atunci
am fost duși de val. Totodată, aveam și oameni
școliţi, educaţi tot în Vest, la Berlin, Paris, foar-
te puţin la Londra, dar acum nu mai sunt, s-au
dus acele vremuri. Acum totul este un busine-
ss și noi trebuie să ne adaptăm și să produ-
cem, dar România nu mai produce nimic din
perioada interbelică și nu e de mirare că am
ajuns cum ajuns.

rezultate favorabile i-au determinat pe operatori să își extindă busine-

de de dolari până în luna iunie 2011.
Revenire spectaculoasă
După un an extrem de dificil, operatorul de cazinouri Crown a rapor-
tat o evoluţie semnificativă. Potrivit rezultatelor publicate la finele anu-
lui financiar, la 30 iunie 2010 grupul a raportat un profit net de 292,3
milioane de dolari, faţă de pierderea de aproximativ 1,2 miliarde de
dolari, înregistrată la sfârșitul anului fiscal 2008 – 2009. Și anul fiscal
2010 – 2011 a debutat într-o notă optimistă. În primele șapte săptă-
mâni de activitate veniturile din jocurile de noroc au crescut la subsi-
diarele australiene, Burswood Entertainment Complex (Perth) și
Crown Melbourne, cu 4%, iar volumul consumului din segmentul non-

ring the last 3 years, we have invested a lot of resources in this
product. The experience of the last 16 years, when we started the
company, but also the desire to be the first producers in Romania
to develop a gambling platform gave us the patience and perseve-
rance to succeed. The games with three or five wheels, five or nine
lines (selected or fixed), free games, bonus, special design, red/
black dubbing, these are some of the characteristics of the 8 ga-
mes implemented on the multi games platform of Dracula’s games.
Each game on this platform: Dracula’s Treasure, Hot Fruits, Ocean’s
Secret, The Magic Money, The lost City of Atlantis, Mega Hot, Luc-
ky Fruits and Five of Sevens are at the same level with the games

decrease. Yet, we have managed to sell Dracula’s Games platforms
and the Dracula’s Jackpot system was quite successful. We hope

also have an interesting project in South America, we wish to finalize
next year. In Romania, starting with EArena 2010 we will bring out

Between November 1st and November 3 rd 2010, Expo 24 or-
ganizes in Bucharest the fourth edition of the Entertainment Are-
na Expo, exhibition dedicated to gambling and amusement.
The exhibition has two major segments: Gaming and Amuse-
ment
The Gaming segment contains gambling producers and vendors, live
and electronic roulettes, jackpots, slot machines, components and ac-
cessories. The Amusement segment is dedicated to video simulators,
pinball, billiard and darts.
This year, the exhibition brings together the most important players
of the entertainment industry, as Novomatic, Casino Technology, EGT,
Alfastreet, Merkur Casino, Kajot, Synot, local representatives of Amatic

multiplayer. Terminalul Vega-PS multiplayer este compatibil, nu numai

The most important players within the gambling industry are gathe-
ring to the forth edition of the Entertainment Expo Arena, dedicated to
gambling and amusement. For three days, over 70 local and internatio-
nal representatives of this field will present their newest products. The
exhibition will be structured on two main categories, Gaming and Amu-
sement and will bring together gambling, slot machines, casino equip-
ments, video consoles and games, flippers and funfair features produ-
cers and suppliers.
Between November 1st and 3 rd the entertainment lovers are invited
to see the latest news on this field. As Entertainment Expo Arena

It can be connected to any of the automatic roulettes, as well as to all
the types of automatic cylinder, produced by Alfastreet. The SL terminal

sensor that provide communication between the roulettes and the con-
nected terminals. Due to the development of the multiwheel software,
SL terminal can be connected simultaneously to four types of roulette,
and the player has the possibility to select the roulette only by a single

 Pariurile sportive
merită un tratament egal
Spre deosebire de alte activităţi economice legale şi aflate sub controlul strict al instituţiilor statului,
activitatea economică a pariurilor sportive este supusă unei reglementări separate care presupune că
agenţii economici care desfăşoară acest gen de activitate să plătească un impozit de 5% aplicat
veniturilor înregistrate, în situaţia în care suma cumulată prin această impozitare este mai mare decât
impozitul de 16% aplicat la profit.
Această reglementare, care se găseşte în Codul Fiscal la Art. 18, alineatul 1, introduce în mod nedrept
pariurile sportive în categoria activităţilor greu fiscalizabile, ceea ce ar justifica, în perspectiva
legiuitorului, această obligativitate la plata impozitului pe venitul înregistrat şi nu cota unică de care
beneficiază în mod normal activităţile economice. Ceea ce Codul Fiscal ignoră este faptul că pariurile
sportive sunt atent supravegheate de stat, precum şi faptul că toate tranzacţiile sunt monitorizate de
Ministerul Finanţelor prin terminalul pe care toţi organizatorii sunt obligaţi să-l instaleze la sediul
Finanţelor şi la care agenţiile de pariuri sportive sunt conectate Dacă luăm în considerare realitatea că
niciun pariu sportiv din cadrul agenţiilor legal înfiinţate nu se poate opera fără ştiinţa Ministerului
Finanţelor, scoaterea agenţiilor care desfăşoară acest gen de activitate economică din regula generală
şi impozitarea cu 5% a veniturilor înregistrate este o discriminare nedreaptă.
Ca dovadă, conform OUG 77/2009, art. 2.g), ”sălile de pariuri vor fi operate prin intermediul unor
programe informatice independente, unice la nivelul societăţii organizatoare, indiferent de numărul de
locaţii în care se desfăşoară activitatea respectivă, cu obligativitatea centralizării într-un sistem
electronic central amplasat pe teritoriul României a informaţiilor care să evidenţieze fiecare terminal
de joc conectat, totalul taxelor de participare colectate şi totalul premiilor acordate. Sistemul electronic
central, prin grija şi pe seama organizatorului, va fi conectat cu un terminal situat la Ministerul
Finanţelor Publice, pus la dispoziţie gratuit de organizatori, şi va conţine sau va permite accesul la
informaţii privind: totalul taxelor de participare colectate în orice zi, totalul premiilor acordate în ziua
respectivă, precum şi evidenţa terminalelor interconectate în sistem (numărul acestora şi adresa la
care sunt exploatate fiecare). Cu cel puţin 30 de zile înainte de obţinerea autorizaţiei de exploatare a
jocurilor de noroc, fiecare spaţiu în care se desfăşoară activitatea de pariuri trebuie să fie identificat în
sistemul central. Orice modificare ulterioară va fi comunicată cu cel puţin 15 zile înainte de a fi
operaţională”.
Nu trebuie uitat că firmele care desfăşoară pariuri sportive au avut şi au în continuare toată solicitudinea
pentru a respecta toate prevederile legale, dar şi disponibilitatea la dialog şi la acceptarea reglementărilor
europene în materie. Tocmai de aceea, insistenţa cu care legiuitorul menţine agenţiile de pariuri în zona
presupus greu fiscalizată este nejustificată şi aruncă o umbră de îndoială asupra unui sector economic
care este perfect legal şi supus unor reglementări stricte.
În continuare, Asociaţia Organizatorilor de Pariuri din România va depune eforturi susţinute
pentru o reglementare corectă faţă de activitatea economică pe care o desfăşoară membrii ei şi va
apăra legalitatea şi transparenţa domeniului pariurilor sportive, păstrând acest sector dincolo de orice
bănuială sau suspiciune. Clienţii români au dreptul de a benficia de pariuri sportive corecte, în condiţii
decente şi de siguranţă, şi, în consecinţă, activitatea economică ce le permite acest lucru trebuie să aibă
parte nu doar de controlul instituţiilor statului, ci şi de un tratament egal cu al celorlalte activităţi
economice.

Combinaţie a trei jocuri într-unul singur, jocul 3-5-7 poate fi o
adevărată provocare pentru iubitorii de poker. Astfel, ei pot juca
poker cu trei, cinci și șapte cărţi de-a lungul unei singure parti-
de.
În joc este pus un pachet cu 52 de cărţi. Jucătorul poate paria orice
sumă la fiecare categorie de joc, sub rezerva minimă și maximă admi-
să. Iniţial, fiecare jucător primește trei cărţi, iar crupierul are două gru-
puri a câte două cărţi. Jucătorii pot paria pe primele două jocuri sau
pe toate trei. Primele două jocuri, cu trei și cinci cărţi, sunt obligatorii,
iar jocul cu șapte cărţi este opţional.
Primele trei cărţi fac obiectul primului joc și anume, Three Cards
Poker. Plata jucătorului se face dacă acesta are cel puţin o pereche.
În acest caz, plata se face conform regulilor de la Three Cards Poker.
În funcţie de primele sale trei cărţi jucătorul își poate retrage jumătate
din suma pariată pe mâna de 7 dacă dorește, astfel, crupierul rămâne
cu jumătate din sumă.
La cel de-al doilea joc, poker cu cinci cărţi, crupierul își întoarce pri-
ma grupă de cărţi, care se vor lua în considerare împreună cu cele trei
cărţi ale clientului. Pentru a fi plătit și de această dată jucătorul trebu-
ie să aibă cel puţin o pereche de 6, din totalul de cinci cărţi.
În cazul celui de-al treilea joc, poker cu șapte cărţi, crupierul își în-
toarce și ultimele două cărţi, care vor fi luate în considerare cu cele
cinci cărţi de la primele două jocuri, alegând cea mai bună combinaţie
de cinci cărţi. Plata pentru acest joc se face doar în cazul în care cli-
entul are cel puţin două perechi, respectiv doi de 10 și doi de 2, din
totalul de șapte cărţi. Chiar și atunci când toate cărţile au fost împărţi-
te clientul poate renunţa la miza de șapte cărţi.
Câștigurile pentru prima etapă, Three Cards Poker, sunt, de obicei,
după următoarea regulă: chinta royală 40:1, 3 bucăţi 25:1, chinta 6:1,
culoare 4:1, o pereche 1:1.
În cazul pokerului cu cinci cărţi, cea de-a doua etapă din jocul de
poker 3-5-7, plăţile sunt mult mai generoase și se fac astfel : chinta
royală mare 500:1, chinta royală mică 100:1, careu 40:1, full house
12:1, culoare 9:1, chinta 6:1, trei bucăţi 4:1, două perechi 3:1, o pere-
che de 6 sau mai mult 1:1.
La pokerul cu șapte cărţi plata se face după următoarele reguli:
chintă royală mare 100:1, chinta royală mică 20:1, careu 7:1, full hou-
se 5:1, culoare 4:1, chinta 3:1, trei bucăţi 2:1, două perechi 10 cu 2
sau mai mare 1:1.
Combinând trei jocuri într-unul singur, poker 3-5-7 este cu siguran-
ţă un joc interactiv și o adevărată provocare pentru cei dispuși să riște
până la ultima carte.
POKER 3-5-7
The combination of three games under a single one, 3-5-7,
can be a real challenge for poker players. They can actually
play poker with three, five and seven cards along one game.
More over, the game has a 52 cards deck. The gambler can bet
any amount to each gambling category, under the minimum and ma-
ximum limit. Initially, each gambler receives three cards, and the crou-
pier has two groups of cards. The gamblers can bet on the first two
games or on all three. The first two games, with three and five cards
are compulsory, and the seven cards game is optional.
The first three cards represent the object of the first game, Three
Cards Poker. The payment is made only if the gambler has at least
one pair of cards. According to his first three cards, the gambler can
withdraw half of the amount bet on a seven cards hand if he wishes,
and therefore the croupier remains with the other half.
Regarding the second game, Five Cards Poker, the croupier deals
the first group of cards that will be considered together with the
three cards of the client. In order to be paid, the gambler must have

Regarding the third game, Seven Cards Poker, the croupier deals
the last two cards also that will be considered together with the five
cards of the previous two games, choosing the best three cards com-
bination. The gambler is paid only if he has at least two pairs, two
cards of 10 and two cards of 2, of the 7 cards. Even when the cards
have been dealt, the client can call the 7 cards stake off.
The winnings for the first round, Three Cards Poker, are usually
following the rule: straight flush 40:1, 3 pieces 25:1, flush 6:1, color
4:1, pair 1:1.
Regarding the Five Cards Poker, the second stage of the poker
game 3-5-7, the parts are more generous: straight flush 500:1, small

Cum a început povestea dumneavoastră în această industrie?
Totul a început acum șapte ani când operatorii de cazinouri din Româ-
nia și străinătate au început să colaboreze încet și sigur cu compania
noastră, cerându-ne o gamă din ce în ce mai variată de produse. Ne-am
adaptat, am răspuns tuturor cererilor, oferindu-le servicii integrate de de-
sign, producţie, transport și instalare. În tot acest timp am investit resurse
și am muncit foarte mult la dezvoltarea brandului Casino Systems. Nu
ne-a fost ușor, deoarece pe tot acest parcurs ne-am lovit de multe greu-

How did your story within this industry begin?
It all started seven years ago, when the casino operators in Roma-
nia and abroad began collaborating easy and safe with our company,
asking for varied products. We relied on their demands, answered all
the requests, offering design integrated services, production, trans-
port and setup. We have invested resources and worked a lot to de-
velop the brand Casino Systems. It was not easy, since we had to fa-
ce a lot of difficulties, but today we are definitely satisfied with what

În principiu, Casino Systems este o companie
de producţie publicitară, specializată pe nevoile
cazinourilor. Gama de produse este foarte varia-
tă, de la firme luminoase de exterior la urne pen-
tru tombole, de la flyere la campanii de promo-
voare, dar pe primul loc sunt semnele de
Jackpot. În toţi acești ani am produs sute de
semne Jackpot, produse care ne-au facut cu-
noscuţi pe plan mondial. Printre clienţii noștri se
numără companii ca Bally, Atronic, Williams, Ma-
xbet, Aura Gaming, Viva, Royal, Aristocrat, Mer-
kur etc.
Care ar fi principalele atuuri pe care le
deţine compania dumneavoastra în lupta cu
concurenţa? Vă rog să vorbiţi și despre oa-
menii din echipa dumneavoastră.
Valoarea unei companii este dată de oamenii
pe care îi are în echipă. Nu am fi putut ajunge
unde suntem fără oameni precum Marian Geană
– Production Manager și Adrian Iancu – Horeca
Manager. De-a lungul anilor, acești oameni au
coordonat echipe diferite și s-au implicat direct
în dezvoltarea companiei. Din punctul meu de
vedere, Casino Systems are un sin-
gur concurent: propriile produse.
Materialele folosite și tehnologia
aplicată fac ca produsele noastre să
poată fi foarte greu concurate pe

Please talk about your company, Casino Systems. Which are
the main products in your portfolio?
Well, Casino Systems is a company that produces casino adver-
ting, specialized on the demands of the casinos. We have a large
number of products, from outdoor lighting advertising to raffle urns,
but the main product is represented by the Jackpot. All over these
years, we have produced hundreds of Jackpot signs that have made
our company known on the international level. Among our clients, I
have to nominate Atronic, Williams, Maxbet, Aura Gaming, Viva, Ro-
yal, Aristocrat, Merkur etc.
Which are the main trumps of your company in your „struggle” with
your opponents? Please tell us a few things about your team.
The value of a company is definitely given by the team. We couldn’t
have reached the level today without people like Marian Geana- pro-
duction Manager and Adrian Iancu- Horeca manager. Along the
years, these people have coordinated different teams and got invol-
ved in the development of the company. From my point of view, Casi-
no Systems has one competitor: its own resources. The materials
and technology we apply make our products unique and they chal-
lenging on the market. The prices meet the needs of our clients, and
this reflects the desire of casino Systems to be the unquestioned le-
ader of the high quality advertising production.
Which do you consider the most important problems of the
gambling industry of our country? What solutions do you see
in order for the business to develop on good groundings?
The main problem of the gambling industry in our country is the
financial crises, and the one solution I can think of is tax reduction.

sau în străinătate și pe care intenţionaţi să le fructificaţi
în viitorul apropiat?
De câtva timp lucrăm la un nou produs, adaptabil la siste-
mele de jackpot deja existente în piaţă. Produsul se va numi
Confetti Jackpot System și va fi expus, după ce va fi testat în
câteva locaţii, la expoziţia de la Londra. El se adresează ne-
voii operatorilor de a face cât mai vizibil momentul în care un
anumit prag al jackpotului a fost atins. Preţul va fi unul acce-
sibil oricărui operator, iar în funcţie de necesităţi se poate
adăuga și un sistem de sunet personalizat, unul de lumini sau
unul cu aburi. Reprezentanţii noștri din Africa au început deja
promovarea produsului și sunt mulţumiţi de solicitările primi-
te. În curând îl vom instala în cea mai de succes locaţie din
România. Un alt proiect la care lucrăm este un sistem propriu
de evidenţă și de fidelizare a clienţilor, care include mai multe

Ce anume aţi schimba sau aţi îmbunătăţi în industria gambling-
ului din România?
Îmi place să cred că România este o ţară liberă. Însă, nu înţeleg de ce
acestui sector de activitate economică i s-au îngrădit anumite drepturi.
De asemenea, nu înţeleg de ce o bancă sau un supermarket au dreptul
la o firmă luminoasă exterioară de șapte metri sau de 100 de metri și un
cazinou nu. De ce să interzicem afișarea cuvantului „cazinou” pentru une-
le locaţii? De ce să interzicem dinamica doar în cazul firmelor de cazino-
uri, când exact pentru ele a fost dezvoltată?
Casino Systems, prezentă pe piaţa locală din 2003, oferă servicii
integrate de design, producţie, transport și instalare operatorilor
de jocuri de noroc din România și de peste hotare. Având în porto-
foliu o serie de operatori de renume din industria jocurilor de no-
roc, compania a devenit unul dintre cei mari jucători în producţia
publicitară de înaltă calitate.

Which are the new development opportunities of your busine-
ss you have identified in Romania or abroad and you intend to
develop in the future?
We are now working on a new product, adaptable to the already
existing jackpot systems. The product will be named confetti jackpot
System and will be presented in London, after few tests in different
locations. The product meets the needs of the operators to make the
moment of a certain level reaches by the Jackpot more visible. The pri-
ce will be acceptable for each operator, and according to the demands,
we can also add a personalized sound system, lighting and steam sys-
tem. Our representatives in Africa have already started the promotion
of the product and they care satisfied with the requests. Soon, the pro-
duct will be setup within the most successful location in Romania.
Another product we are working on is a data base system and loyalisa-
tion system that include the largest number of modules and can be
easily personalized according to the needs of each operator. This is a
product that should never miss any location, but because of the setup
costs, many operators choose to postpone the installation. We have
understood the motive and we will try to offer the most attractive price
on the market.
What would you change or improve in gambling industry in
Romania?
I like to think about Romania as a free country. Yet, I
don’t understand why this activity field is so grounded. I al-
so have a problem with understanding why banks or super-
markets have the right to have a 7 meter or 100 meters
outdoor lighting and a casino can’t. Why should we forbid
screening the word “casino” for certain location? Why sho-
uld we forbid the dynamic only when we are talking about
casinos, when this has been developed for the casinos?
Casino Systems, present on local market since

The award for Hidden talent of the Year has been reserved for the
women who had great contribution to the success of the company,

Cu o experienţă de aproape 30 de ani în industria jocurilor de
noroc, Bahadir Erzaim, actualmente shift manager la Grand Casi-
no Marriott, consideră că măsurile luate de statul român, în toate
segmentele de activitate, vor duce la dispariţia agenţilor econo-
mici. Cu o astfel de atitudine, autorităţile vor vedea că nu vor mai
avea ce să colecteze la bugetul de stat.
Cum aţi luat dumneavoastră primul contact cu industria jocuri-
lor de noroc?
Primul meu raport cu acest domeniu a fost în 1983, în Istanbul la Hil-
ton Casino. Acesta a fost primul cazinou deschis în Turcia. Piaţa s-a ex-
tins rapid, ajungând la 76 de cazinouri în 1997, când au fost interzise.
Acest număr era unul impresionant pentru Turcia. Am studiat manage-
mentul și nu mi-am propus să rămân multă vreme în acest sector. Am
început iniţial cu un program part-time pe o poziţie entry-level pentru
a-mi acoperi cheltuielile universitare, dar m-a atras foarte mult atmosfe-
ra din cazinou și într-un timp scurt am promovat ca supervizor și apoi
manager. Atât remuneraţia, cât și ambianţa, erau atractive, întrucât am
cunoscut oameni din toate ariile de activitate, actori, politicieni.Totodată,
se organizau petreceri, iar atmosfera plină de culoare m-a determinat
să nu mai plec din acest domeniu. În cei 27 de ani de când lucrez în
acest sector am vrut să renunţ și să îmi deschid propriul business sau
să îmi schimb domeniul de activitate, dar unele circumstanţe nefaste
m-au determinat să revin în industria jocurilor de noroc. Iar acum sunt în
România de mai bine de șase ani.
Unde v-a plăcut să lucraţi cel
mai mult? De ce?
Mi-a plăcut cel mai mult să lu-
crez la cel de-al doilea cazinou cu
care am luat contact, la Conrad
Hilton din Istanbul. Acesta făcea
parte dintr-o reţea mare, ce deţi-
nea cazinouri și în Las Vegas și
Australia, iar profesionalismul lor
era evident. Atunci când conduci
un cazinou nu trebuie decât să ur-
mezi regulile și să respecţi politica
acelei companii, iar cei de la Con-
rad respectau normele impuse de
la Nevada, ce-i drept adaptate la
cele locale, și aveau un sistem
foarte interesant. Am stat acolo
până când s-a decis închiderea
cazinourilor din Turcia și a fost o
perioadă foarte bună pentru mine.
În ce ţări aţi mai lucrat, în
afară de Turcia şi România?
Cum a fost trecerea de la Tur-
cia la România?
Desigur, am lucrat în Cipru după
închiderea cazinourilor din Turcia, am mai fost la Moscova, pentru circa
un an și jumătate, în Macedonia și apoi am ajuns în România, unde am
început la Grand Casino Marriott, iar ulterior m-am angajat la Hilton, ca-
re este subsidiara aceleiași companii. Mai târziu m-am transferat la
compania Princess ca areea manager și, după cum știţi, grupul a închis
mai multe locaţii, așa că am fost nevoit să mă mut la un nou cazinou,
deschis în Pitești. După șase luni petrecute acolo, am primit o ofertă ca
shift manager din partea celor de la Marriott și a fost chiar un moment
prielnic pentru că nu mă puteam obișnui cu orașul Pitești.
Care sunt atribuţiile dumneavoastră ca shift manager?
Ca shift manager conduc întreaga echipă pe timpul programului cat
sunt prezent la locul de munca , urmez procedurile, intervievez candida-
ţii pentru posturile vacante, am grijă de clienţi, practic conduc cazinoul
ca un manager.
Care este diferenţa dintre Marriott Grand Casino şi celelalte
cazinouri la care aţi lucrat?
Am suficientă experienţă încât să compar cazinourile din București
pentru că am lucrat pentru diferite companii și am constatat că Marri-

With almost 30 years of experience in the gambling industry,
Bahadir Erzaim, currently shift manager at Grand Casino Mar-
riott, considers that the measures taken by the Romanian state
in all activity segments will lead to the disappearance of the
economical agents. With such attitude, the authorities will reali-
ze that there will be nothing to collect at the state budget.
How did you take your first contact with the gambling indus-
try?
My first job in this field was in 1983, in Istanbul at Hilton Casino,
the first casino opened in Turkey. The market developed rapidly, rea-
ching 76 casinos in 1997, when they were banned. This number was
an impressive one for Turkey. I studied management and didn’t in-
tend to stay for too long in this field. I started at first with an entry-le-
vel part-time position to cover my university expenses, but I was very
attracted by the casino atmosphere and shortly I was promoted as
supervisor and then manager. Both remuneration and ambition were
attractive as I was meeting people from all working areas, actors, po-
liticians. In the same time, there were parties organizes and the co-
lorful atmosphere determined to stay within this field. During the 27
years of activity I wanted to give up and start my own business or
change the job, but some particular circumstances determined me to
always come back to the gambling industry. And now there are 6
years since I’m in Romania.
Where did you like to work the most? Why?

lism was obvious. When you run a
casino you only have to follow the
rules and policy of that company,
and the Conrad people were un-
der the Nevada regulations,
adapted to the local reality, with a
very interesting system. I remai-
ned there until it was decided
that all casinos from Turkey sho-
uld be closed. And it was a good
time for me.
In which other countries ha-
ve you worked, apart from Tur-
key and Romania? How was
the transition from Turkey to
Romania?
Of course, I worked in Cyprus
after the closure of the casinos in
Turkey, I’ve been to Moscow for a
year and a half, in Macedonia and then got to Romania where I star-
ted working at Grand Casino Marriott, and then got hired at Hilton,
which is the subsidiary of the same company. Later I was transferred
at Princess Company as Area Manager and, as you know, the group
closed a few locations so I moved to a new casino in Pitesti. After six
months there, I received an offer as shift manager from Marriott and
it was really favorable as I couldn’t get used to Pitesti city.
What are your attributions as shift manager?
As shift manager I run the whole team during working time, follow
the procedures, interview the candidates for vacancies, take care of
the customers, I practically run the casino like a manager.
What is the difference between Marriott Grand Casino and
other casinos you’ve worked at?
I have enough experience so I can compare the casinos from Bu-
charest because I’ve worked for different companies and I noticed
that Marriott has a particular situation within this industry as it has a
great advantage, due to its location, within the building of the best
five stars hotel from Romania and also because the hotel’s guests

Cum aţi descrie, pe scurt, echipa dumneavoastră de la Grand
Casino?
Din păcate, în special într-o perioadă economică bună, este foarte
dificil să păstrezi o echipă stabilă. Mulţi vin pentru câteva luni și apoi
pleacă, fie își găsesc un post în alte state, fie pleacă pe vasele de croa-
zieră. De aceea, nu îţi poţi menţine o echipă cu adevărat statornică.
Avem însă și câţiva membri pe care ne putem baza, profesioniști care
au aici o experienţă de peste șase ani și lucrează la standarde înalte, iar
acesta este iar un motiv pentru care Grand Casino Marriott are succes.
Pot spune că majoritatea angajaţilor este formată din oameni bine pre-
gătiţi.
Care este jocul dumneavoastră favorit, în timpul liber?
De obicei, nu joc, doar ocazional fac asta. Dar, dintre toate jocurile de
cazinou prefer Blackjack-ul, pentru că îţi oferă șansa să iei o decizie și
să schimbi cursul jocului. Este într-adevăr un joc de noroc, dar tu decizi
dacă iei sau nu o carte. De asemenea, sunt reguli standard, pe care da-
că le respecţi ai șanse să câștigi. În schimb, la ruletă plasezi pariul și
aștepţi să vină unul din numerele tale norocoase. Totul se bazează pe
noroc. În această categorie nu includ însă și Texas Hold’em, care este
un joc profesionist, cu o serie de reguli și are și anumite conexiuni în
domeniul psihologiei.
Care sunt, din punctul dumneavoastră de vedere, marile pro-
bleme cu care se confruntă industria locală de gambling?
Problema taxelor mărite nu este valabilă doar în industria noastră, ci
se regăsește în toate domeniile. Guvernul încearcă să pună taxe pe ori-
ce, fără să se gândească la viitor. Spre exemplu, pe segmentul cazinou-
rilor ei nu s-au gândit la operatori și astfel au dispărut multe locaţii de
pe piaţă. Deși s-au închis atâtea cazinouri, e posibil să crească numărul
celor care își vor întrerupe activitatea pe acest segment, atât din cauza
noii ordonanţe, cât și din cauza crizei economice. Într-un final vor vedea
cât de mult au pierdut de fapt prin aceste măsuri. În ciuda faptului că au
crezut că prin mărirea taxelor vor lua mai mulţi bani, vor observa că într-
un an sau doi nu vor mai colecta prea mulţi, pentru că industria va dis-
părea. Iar acest fenomen se va petrece în mai multe sectoare de activi-
tate.
Care sunt hobbyurile dumneavoastră?
Obișnuiam să mă duc la sală, dar în ultimul timp nu am mai putut să-
mi respect programul pentru că am avut foarte multe preocupări, m-am
mutat de la Pitești aici, dar voi relua această activitate, probabil, de luna
viitoare. Îmi place și să ies o dată pe săptămână în unele cluburi, îmi pla-
ce să mă duc la cinematograf, să urmăresc filme, să navighez pe inter-
net. Practic, am cam aceleași hobbyuri ca toţi ceilalţi.

How would you shortly describe your team from Grand Casi-
no?
Unfortunately, especially into a good economical situation it’s diffi-
cult to maintain a stabile team. Many come for a few months and
then leave, or find jobs abroad, or leave onto cruise ships. That’s why
you can’t really keep a true stabile team. Nevertheless, we have a
few reliable members, professionals with over six years of experien-
ce that work at high standards, which again empowers Grand Casino
Marriott to be successful. I can say that the majority of our staff is
formed by well trained people.
What is your favorite game in your free time?
I usually don’t gamble, but only occasionally. Of all casino games, I
prefer Blackjack, because it gives you the opportunity to take a deci-
sion and change the course of the game. It is indeed a gamble, but
it’s your call to take or not to take a card. Also, there are standard ru-
les that, if you follow, you have a chance to win. Whereas at the rou-
lette you place your bet and wait for one of your lucky numbers.
Everything is pure chance. But in this category doesn’t fall Texas
Hold’em, which is a professional game, with a set of rules, that also
has certain connection within the psychology domain.
What are, in your opinion, the great problems that face the
local gambling industry?
The increased taxes problem is not valid only in our industry, but in
all fields. The government is trying to tax everything, without thinking
about the future. For instance, for the casinos segment, they didn’t
take into consideration the operators, which led to the disappearan-
ce of many locations from the market. Although so many casinos clo-
sed, it’s possible that the number of those who will terminate their
activity to grow, due both to the new laws and the economical crisis.
In the end they will realize how much they have lost, in fact, through
these measures. Despite the fact that they thought that increased
taxing will bring more money. They will find out that in a year or two
there will be little to collect, because the industry would be gone by
then. And this situation will take place in many areas of activity.
What are your hobbies?
I used to go to the gym, but lately I couldn’t respect my schedule
due to various problems, I moved from Pitesti here, but I will resume
this habit, probably, starting from next month. I also like going out on-
ce a week in some clubs, go to the movies, surf the net. Practically,
nothing out of the ordinary.
