Book: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Is it fiction or non-fiction: It is fiction because it’s not true, there is no magic like in the book
and you don’t have unicorns.
Genre: the genre is Fantasy because the book is about magic and if I think of magic, then I
think also of fantasy.
Theme: Education, fear and friendship because they are in school, he makes new friends
and fear because of Voldemort.
Plot:
Harry’s parents are killed by Voldemort so he has to live with his uncle and aunt (the
Dursleys). Harry gets letters but his uncle takes them away from him so he is not able to read
them. They are escaping from the letters but it doesn’t matter where Harry is because he still
gets the letters. Finally he knows where the letters are about. But how will it end?
Subplot:
He also lives with his nephew. He buys a owl with Hagrid. He gets new friends and they are
called Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger (they are his best friends).
Character description:
Harry Potter- Harry potter is the main character. In the beginning of the story is Harry Potter
only 13 years old. His parents died and he lives in the cupboard under the stairs from his
uncle (Vernon Dursley), aunt (Petunia Dursley) and his nephew Dudley Dursley. This story
becomes a tale of Harry’s revenge for his parents wrongful deaths. Harry shows himself to
be caring and shrewd and a loyal friend.
Hagrid- Hagrid is a adult giant and the ground servant of Hogwarts and helped Harry a lot at
school. Hagrid symbolizes the importance of generosity and human warmth in a world
menaced by conniving villains.
Ron Weasley- Ron Weasley is the best friend of Harry, they are in the same class and they
are just as well in magic. Ron is a shy and modest boy. Ron comes from a impoverished
wizard family.
Hermione Granger- Hermione is also a good friend of Harry and also of Ron. She studies
much and obeys the school rules zealously. She is very smart.
Albus Dumbledore- the wise head of Hogwarts, he is a famous wizard and also the only
wizard that Voldemort is afraid of. He appears to have an almost superhuman level of
wisdom, knowledge, and personal understanding, and it seems that he may have set up the
whole quest for the Sorcerer’s Stone so that Harry could prove himself.
Voldemort- A great wizard gone bad. He gave Harry a lightning scar when he killed Harry’s
parents. He is the bad guy in the story and he wants to take over the world.
