Chapter 1 Overviews
SPIC-200 Spectral Irradiance Colorimeter integrates the spectrum, illuminance,
colorimetric and photometric etc. measurement functions in one instrument. With the
international patented technologies, it has non V(λ) mismatch error, and can realize
wide dynamic range with excellent linearity, which inherits the advantages of both
illuminance meter and spectroradiometer.
The detector can be separated from the main unit of SPIC-200, which could realize
angle-unlimited sampling for flexible measurements. The 4.2'' touch screen, SD
memory card and the Android operating system etc. are applied in SPIC-200, which
makes the measurements more intelligent. All the quantities could be measured and
displayed by one touch, which suits best for the on-site measurements of road, indoor,
commercial, office and plant growing lighting etc., as well as the research and

Ø System data: Built-in SD card saves the instrument-specific calibration data files,
the operations such as: spectral calibration, zero calibration will modify the
contents of the file. System data has one click backup and restore functions, the
backup data was exited before leaving the factory (name: Factory data). User can
make a backup system data file themselves : Click "Backup", input the name then
the backup is completed, the data will also be saved in SD card. In Advanced
mode, a restore button will appeared on the right of the Backup button (as shown
in Fig 4.21), click to complete the restore operation (as shown in Fig4.25), uses
can choose factory data or user-generated backup data when restoring.
Note: the restoring will take effects after restarting the instrument.
Ø Detector connection: Connect the detector and main connection via cable or

can set up the system according to the current connection status, the instrument
can also judge the connection mode automatically . If the detector is connected
There are two remote communication ways between PC and the main unit of SPIC-200: USB and
WIFI (Only for AW and BW model). If using USB , the main unit of SPIC -200 and PC are
connected by it; if using WIFI , user need to equip the wireless router, the name of the wireless
router must be configured for the SSID: EVERFINE, password: 12345678, encryption method :
AES, main unit of SPIC- 200 will take the initiative to connect the wireless router named
EVERFINE.
If the PC software communicates with SPIC-200, first click on the "Remote Control" menu,
select the communication mode (as shown in Fig 4.27), then entering remote control interface,
the instrument can communicate with PC via USB or WIFI . when exiting remote control interface,

connection is consistent with software setting (refer to section 4.2.4 ), and setup the parameters
meeting the requirement(Refer to section 4.2.1). And then click the to start, it will
enter into the continuous measurement mode. Every test result will be displayed on
the interface together with the measurement times. As shown in Fig. 4.1, N=1 means
that it is the first measurement. User can stop the continuous measurement by click
and save the result by click button. When the result is saving, it will enter
into saving interface. Here, user can revise the name of the document and the detail
information of the results, and then click “Save” button to save.

6.1.2 Apparatus
Mercury lamp, Thermostatic blue LED lamp, Standard illuminant A, Standard power
supply, Optical rail
Choose a mercury lamp or laser as the light source, test three times at the spectra line
404.66nm, 435.88nm, 546.07nm and 632.80nm, then figure out each peak wavelength
λi. Then calculate according to formula 6.1, the deviation should meet the technical
specifications of wavelength accuracy shown in chapter 2.

mercury lamp.
Preheat SPIC-200 and standard illuminant A for 30 minutes first. Then calibrate
SPIC-200 with the standard illuminant A to get the standard spectrum. Maintain the
M130425CM1351202
working conditions for standard A, then measure the chromaticity every 2 minutes.
After 3 runs, calculate the accuracy according to (6.2). The result should be consistent
with the specifications in chapter 2 under standard illuminant A.
Du = ui - u 0 (6.2)
1 n X i - Bi
r= å
n i =1 Bi
´ 100% ,Bi≠B0 (6.3)
Where r is the photometric channel linearity error; Xi is the measured value; Bi is the
standard value; n is the measurement times.
With the standard illuminant A as the light source, set up the sensitivity to “low” and
choose 450nm as the working wavelength. After zero calibration, take down the peak
value AD0(AD0>55000)and calculate the average value after 10 runs. Put an optical
filter whose cutoff wavelength at 510nm on the incident light path, and take down the
average value AD' around 450±5nm. Then calculate the percentage of stray light
according to (6.4).
M130425CM1351202
SL=AD'/AD0×100% (6.4)
Where SL is the percentage of stray light; AD0 is the peak value of spectrum; AD' is
the value at chosen wavelength (around the range of cutoff wavelengths).
Solutions:
M130425CM1351202
a. Check whether it is in a right way when testing the dark current. And please
calibrate the zero again, refer to the section 4.2.3.
3. Communication failed.
Solutions:
a. For SPIC-200AW or SPIC-200BW, check if the power switch on the back of the
detector is on.
4. Measurement failed through the blue tooth
Solutions:
a. Remove the obstacle between the main unit and the cell phone, or shorten the
distance of them to ensure the blue tooth signal unimpeded
b. Click the “Bluetooth ini” under the menu “System Setting”, rematch the main unit
and the detector, refer to section 4.2.4 for details.
c. The power of the detector is low(the indicator is off or the orange light is flashed),
and please connect it with the main unit and charge it with the power.
5. Measurement failed through the WIFI communication.
Solutions:
a. Exit the remote mode, and reconnect the WIFI.
b. Reconnect the WIFI after the test is finished on the main interface.
