Guidelines for Parents:

1. The parents will make a timetable for subjects given in the study pack:

 Class KG- Prep: English, Urdu, Math & GK

 Class I-III: English, Urdu, Islamiat, and Arabic & Integrated Studies

 Class IV-V: English, Urdu, Islamiat, and Arabic & Social Studies

 Class VI-VIII: English, Urdu, Islamiat, and History

2. Most of the work is based on reading tasks which can be undertaken by

students. Class IV students may need some parental support in reading tasks.

3. The weekly work assigned will be spread over the week days according to the

timetable set by parents.

4. Written Practice to be done as per Format:

Study Pack Week: ….. Subject….. Topic….. Date…..

5. Parents will monitor and supervise their ward’s work and ensure it is filed /

kept in some folder/dossier.

6. The Written Practice, given with the weekly task, is not to be submitted to

schools for checking.

7. Once the school starts on 16 July, the teachers will help students complete the

written work which has not been included on the topics given in the Study

Packs. Hence, it is mandatory for the students to do the given reading and

written practice tasks during stay at home period.

8. Science and Mathematics (IV-VIII) homework has not been given as these are

technical subjects that require face to face teacher contact.

Novel: The Lost World

Week 5 Chapter 9 Summary:
The Indians gather approximately five hundred men and together
June 29-July 03, with Professor Challenger's men an epic battle is fought and the
2020 apemen are defeated. Although the Indians do not want them to
leave, one Indian man secretly gives them a map of the area which
Chapters 9 and 10 leads them down the red cliffs to Zambo's camp.
The party is rescued.
Read: Chapter 9 (Pages 46 - 49)

1. Read the text on your own and then listen to the chapters
from the CDs (provided with the novel ) to improve
pronunciation and fluency.
2. Look up the following words in the dictionary and write
the meanings in My Vocabulary Bank:

3. Why do you think Professor Challenger wanted to take a
pterodactyl back to England?(Oral Work)

Chapter 10 Summary:
The team returns to England and gives a talk about their adventures
at the Zoological Institute where the members are called liars again
unless they provide evidence. Professor Challenger releases the
pterodactyl for the audience to see. The creature flies out of the
window and the audience are convinced. Edward goes back to
Gladys to ask her to marry him since he is now proven that he is
brave , heroic and famous but she has already married a rich and
boring man.
Edward decides to go back to the Amazon with Lord John for
another adventure.
