Chapter 1 : Introduction

1.1 Overview

The parking is the place by which the drivers placing vehicles in given of specific measurement
or the action taken by the drivers for moving vehicles into the parking facilities . Besides, the
parking studies are analyze to performing for determination such as location, a use and enough of
the quantity of exist of parking facilities. It have be relate with the specific area and the planning
such an effort by researcher for improving safety and efficiency.

1.2 The problem statement

The management of a community library are hiring the consultation company from a
traffic engineering consultant company. The company have been asking for conducting a parking
study base on the parking layout that given which have the containing of the parking spaces as
shown as follows :-

i. Contain 8 rows for all of the parking spaces

ii. Carpool parking which have 1 row with occupants 3 or more.

iii. Given the priority of the parking for such occupants like pregnant drivers, elderly and for the
disable occupants would have 1 of row.

iv. The company will have the access of the information such as parking layout and license
plate survey data from the management of a community library.
 The figure 1.0 show the parking layout gave from the management of a community library

1.3 The objectives of study

The main of objectives for this study as shown as follows :-

i. To analyze the library’s car parking lot for the management of a community library by
conducting a parking study which a parking layout provide,
ii. To fill up all the following inquiries from the management of library
1.4 Scope and limitations of study

The scope of the study have been made list as follows :-

i. Only the specific section of the parking car lot that given from library management have
to be conduct the analysis by giving the parking layout.
ii. All the data were given in the format of license plate survey data.

The limitations of the study as show as follows :-

I. Cannot make the reconnaissance due to COVID-19 spread all of Malaysia especially for
UTHM and Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment.

II. All of the analysis only from a parking study learn from subject of BFC 32302 : Traffic
engineering and Safety and from Dr. Basil A/l David Daniel.

1.5 The purpose of studies

The list up of the purpose for this studies are actually the purpose of parking studies are shown as
follows :-

a) To estimate the capacity of the existing parking facilities

b) To estimate the demands and suppressed parking demand.

Chapter 3: Conclusion

3.1 Conclusion

The management of a community library approach to parking have to changed, this also
include for students. University planners have committed to a campus parking plan to preserve
green space at the university, create a walking campus, and promote a campus aesthetic. Yet
faculty, staff and students want to park near their places of work and study. Parking policies at
the university must address both concerns. Besides, the continues of analysis must have recorded
to having the accurate data “before” and “after” studies. Students must follow all regulations
within the peak seasons for increasing the safety awareness during palace their vehicles.

This must be included such as the proper annual statistics records, numbers of the eligible
for parking permits for lecturers and students and not eligible must have to recorded, Annual of
records during peak seasons such as study weeks and classes parking permits issued.
