Chapter 3

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

In this chapter, it will contain how the study was or will be conducted.

It will consist the research instrument that the research will be using. It will be consisting the

statistical treatment used in the study.

Research Design

This study adopted a descriptive survey design to answer the research questions of

this study. The researcher selected a descriptive survey design since it attempts to describe the

characteristics of the variables of the study (Mugenda and Mugenda, 2003). According to

Robson, (2002) asserts that logic game research design studies have advantages in that they

may be adopted to collect information that can be generalized from all population and that they

provide relatively simple and straight forward approach to the study of values, attitudes, beliefs

and motivates.

Respondents of the Study

The respondents of the study were (30) Selected Grade 9 Students of San Antonio

de Padua College to know the Influence of profile of parents and family bonding in study habits

and achievement level if a students.

Sampling Technique

Random Sampling is a part of the sampling technique in which each sample has an

equal probability of being chosen. A sample chosen randomly is meant to be an unbiased

representation of the total population. It for some reasons, the sample does not represent the

population, the variation is called a sampling error.

The researchers used the random sampling technique to be sure that the result/samples are not

bias and is represented as a whole. Also, to increase the generalizability of the result. It is used

to determine he respondence of the study.

Research Instrument

The main instruments used in the study was a questionnaire which was used to determine the

influence of profile of parents and gamily bonding study habits and achievement level of a

students.

Scale Range Description Verbal Interpretation

5 4.21-5.00 Strong Agree Very Effective

4 3.41-4.20 Agree Effective

3 2.61-3.40 Neutral Moderately Effective

2 1.81-2.60 Disagree Low Effective

1 1.00-1.80 Strongly Disagree Not Effective

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers personally administered the research instruments to the respondents.

They conferred and discussed the significance of the study

Formula of the Mean Average:

∑×
X=
N

∑×= Sum of the average of the result of the

survey questionnaire.

N = Number of Respondents

Formula of the Standard Deviation:

σ = [ ∑ x 2 . P ( x ) ]−x 2

∑ = Standard Deviation of the Population

X=Mean Average
