SOCIAL STUDIES HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

PROJECT WORK
CLASS X (2019-20)
1. Every student has to compulsorily undertake any one project on the following
topics:
Consumer Awareness
OR
Social Issues
OR
Sustainable Development
2. Objective: The overall objective of the project work is to help students gain an
insight and pragmatic understanding of the theme and see all the Social Science
disciplines from interdisciplinary perspective. It should also help in enhancing the
Life
Skills of the students.
Students are expected to apply the Social Science concepts that they have learnt
over the years in order to prepare the project report.
If required, students may go out for collecting data and use different primary and
secondary resources to prepare the project. If possible, various forms of art may
be
integrated in the project work.
3. The distribution of marks over different aspects relating to Project Work is as
follows:
a. Content accuracy, originality and analysis 2marks
b. Presentation and creativity 2marks
c. Viva Voce 1m

4. The Project Report should be handwritten by the students.

Geography Holiday Homework for Class X

● New C.B.S.E Map list need to practiced by the students of class X with the
help of assignment booklet practice sheets
● Project as per C.B.S.E on Sustainable Development will also be taken up
by the geography department

Chapter 1 : In the chapter Resources and Development, international and


national efforts to achieve Sustainable Development by maintaining the
equilibrium and resilience of the ecosystems have been emphasised. Conventions
and conferences on environment have now assumed an important place in
international diplomacy. The two most important milestones in this direction have
been:

I) The Stockholm Conference (1972)


II) Brundtland Commission Report (1987): This report introduced the concept of
‘Sustainable Development’ and advocated it as a means for resource conservation,
which was subsequently published in a book entitled Our Common Future.
III) Rio Earth Summit (1992)

Students can research on any important international agreements around the core
issues that emerged from the above summits. This is an indicative list of :
1. UN Framework on Climate Change
2. Conservation on Biological diversity
3. Agenda 21 (Sustainable Development Goals)
4. Montreal Protocol
5. COP 21, Paris Summit

Guidelines for the project-


● The guidelines are given by C.B.S.E.
● Project size can have fifteen A4 size handwritten sheets
● All research citations and sources to be enlisted in bibliography

3. Interest groups and pressure groups

4. Caste inequalities and its problems
ps: students to make an index and mention the sources at the back.

ECONOMICS CL X PROJECT
GUIDELINES FOR PROJECT WORK

Following points should be kept in mind by the students while making the
project:
· Students are supposed to do economics project on CONSUMER
AWARENESS.
· The students must ensure that they learn various aspects of the concepts
related to consumer awareness.
· The project must be presented in a project file, having A4ruled sheets of
any colour and should be of 15 pages.
· Project must be hand written.
Originality of research should be maintained by the students and under no
circumstances should students copy the project work of other students.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT :
The sequence in which project report material should be arranged is as
follows:
1) Page 1: cover page which would include the following details
· Title of the project
· Subject
· Name of the student
· Roll no
· Batch/year
· School
2) Page 2: Acknowledgment
3) Page 3: Index
4) Page 4 onwards: contents of the project to include
a) Define the consumer in market place
b) Evolution of consumer movement
c) Rights and duties of consumers
d) 4 logos of quality marks such as ISI mark (draw and stick
pictures)
e) Two case studies on consumer harassment
5) Page 5: conclusion
6) bibliography
Marking scheme: Content: 2 marks
Presentation:2 marks
Viva: 1 mark
