■ Preview the activity: Tell Ss they will work in pairs

to make an interview video. Explain that they will take
turns interviewing each other and operating the camera.
Explain that Ss will write a list of questions to help their
partner introduce himself or herself.
■ Write the script: Go over the sample questions below
with the class. If helpful, model responses with your
own information. Then have Ss write a list of five to
six questions for the interview.
Share the video
■ Ss share their videos with the class.
■ Option: Have a group or class discussion about the
videos. Prompt Ss to identify any similarities or
differences in the videos about names, nationalities,
celebrities, and whatever else they may notice.

Sample questions
1. What’s your (full) name?
2. How do you spell it?
3. What’s your nickname?
4. Where are you from?
5. Are you a student?
6. Name your favorite singer or actor.
7. Name your favorite movie.

■ Option: If Ss enjoyed Street Talk, pairs can interview

several Ss in the class to create a similar interview video.
Topics may include favorite celebrities or guessing
celebrities’ identities based on their initials or other facts
about their names.
■ Check the script: Have pairs rehearse their scripts. Go
around the room and give help as needed.

Make the video

■ Plan the video: Remind Ss that they will take turns

interviewing each other and operating the camera.
Explain that the person who operates the camera acts as
the host and asks the questions from off-screen. Then they
switch roles. Alternatively, Ss can set up the camera so
