Sentences
The problems with sentences are the following:
!
- People read what is written
- You read what is written
- You become redundant- a bit like having someone else

talking at the same time as you
- You lose considerable impact, engagement and

attention span
- Some audience members briefly consider suicide, hence

the famous saying, “Death by PowerPoint”.
Effect of sentences
!

- Reading
- Redundancy
- Interaction loss
- Suicide risks
Effect of sentences
You read what is written/ people too.
You don’t face them, you don’t look at them.

!
Your ppt works as a challenger when its

- Reading purpose is to enhance your message.

It is like having someone else speaks almost
at the same time as you.
- Redundancy
- Interaction loss As a consequence, you don’t “talk to your audience”
as much as you could.
- Suicide risks You lose spontaneity, authenticity and before all,
message impact. Therefore, you make
the message harder to memorise.

The rate of people questioning their jobs, purpose and whole existence during a conference
due to bad ppt is believed to be closely linked to an alarming number of deaths by suicide (source unknown)

VISUAL CHOICE
=
STATEMENT
Be in control as much as possible.
Choose this colour for a reason. Put this blue shirt for a reason. Insert this animation
for a reason.
Nothing should be done by accident or because “Why not?”
Visual Communication is extremely powerful and plays on our unconscious.
Everything visual choice is a statement- and has a consequence.

Typeface and font

- In general, descriptive/non-distinctive word elements appearing in basic/

standard typeface, lettering or handwritten style typefaces – with or
without font effects (bold, italics) – are not registrable.
!
- Where standard typefaces incorporate elements of graphic design as part
of the lettering, those elements need to have sufficient impact on the
mark as a whole to render it distinctive. When these elements are
sufficient to distract the attention of the consumer from the descriptive
meaning of the word element or are likely to create a lasting impression
of the mark, the mark is registrable.
