The community of White city was identified by community leaders (Ward Councilors etc.) in conjunction with Ulundi
Local Municipality as one of the communities with need for the upgrading of the access roads. This project was
prioritized on the Ulundi Local Municipality Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
The project is intended to provide construction of tar access roads in the area to upgrade the living
conditions for White city. The project is situated in White city within Ulundi Local Municipality, under
jurisdiction of Zululand District Municipality

The project is planned to be completed and handed over to the client by 28 April 2017

During the planning phase of the project, the Ward Councilor involving the development committee in the
identification of community needs; also, local authorities was represented in the planning process. Project Labour
Desk came from the communities within the project area. The criteria used for identifying committee members
were based on the guidelines outlined in the RDP policy of South Africa. In addition, the Community Liaison Officer
(CLO) was recruited and will be a direct link between the Contractor and the community.

7. EMPLOYMENT GENERATION
As per the contractors list of employed labour on site as per EPWP. At present, there are 8 labourers on site who
are employed from the local community.
