SECTION 4.1 DOCUMENTATION:
Up to date details of the following items shall be available:

a.) the classification of hazardous areas (see SANS 10108);


(REPORT, DRAWING)

b.) the equipment group and temperature class (EPL);

c.) sufficient records to enable explosion-protected equipment to


be maintained in accordance with its type of protection (for
example, list and location of equipment, spares, technical
information); and

d.) copies of previous inspection records.

SECTION 4.2 QUALIFICATION OF PERSONNEL:

Annex B). Appropriate continuing education
or training shall be undertaken by personnel
on a regular basis. Evidence of the relevant
experience and training claimed shall be
documented and available.

Before plant or equipment in a hazardous area
is brought into service, it shall be given an
initial inspection. As part of the plant
commissioning and start up procedures , initial
inspection and other additional requirements
are provided in IEC 60079-14.

CONCLUSION
 Understand the legal requirements and adhere to it, as
soon as possible. (Ensure all required systems in place)

 Compile all proof of compliance (meetings, plant walk


downs, inspections, etc.)

 Train, appoint and equip competent staff

 Ensure full compliance by having valid C.o.C’s for all


points of control (Db’s) for normal and specialized
electrical installations.
