Whether you run a vocational truck on demanding jobsites or log thousands of miles on the highway, the 700 cu. in. Mack® MP7 has the power you need. This all new, innovative, compact powerplant uses Cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (CEGR) and a Variable Geometry Turbocharger to deliver unmatched horsepower and low-end torque. Peak horsepower ranges from 325 HP to 405 HP while peak torque runs from 1,260 lb. ft. to 1,560 lb. ft. It’s all the muscle you need to get your work done efficiently.
Three distinct families to power all
types of trucks. There are three MP7 engine families to cover nearly all applications. Econodyne® (1,200 rpm – 1,800 rpm) is ideal for typical interstate and less-than-load applications where fuel economy is a priority. MaxiCruise® (1,200 rpm – 1,950 rpm) provides performance that’s needed for rolling interstate and full-load applications. Maxidyne® (1,200 rpm – 2,100 rpm) provides the power for high-performance, severe-duty conditions — especially off-road applications. Three families mean you’ll get an engine with the power and efficiency to get your work done.
Get more mileage out of your money.
The MP7 meets EPA ’04 emissions levels. But that doesn’t mean Mack sacrificed on fuel economy. Thanks to improvements to the injection and air management system, this diesel-sipping engine boasts a significant increase in fuel economy. Put more distance between oil drains. The MP7 saves you money on fuel. It also stretches your dollars on oil changes. For highway applications, the MP7 can travel up to 30,000 miles between changes for highway applications and 300 hours or 15,000 miles for vocational work. This money-saving feature is due to an advanced combustion system that greatly reduces emissions and generates much less particulate to contaminate the oil. Drive longer and work more efficiently.
Cooler engines prevail.
The MP7 has improved airflow around the engine with large-capacity cooling systems and smart fan technology. The MP7 is designed to handle the increased heat generated by meeting EPA guidelines.
Keeping fuel separate from water.
Always know exactly how much water is in your fuel. The MP7 has a standard engine-mounted, fuel-in-water sensor that connects to a dashboard warning lamp.
Legendary durability and reliability
continue. For more than a century, Mack has been building trucks and engines with an indisputable reputation for durability. The Mack MP7 is the latest in a long, long line of engines that perform to legendary standards. An integral engine component, the next-generation Variable Geometry Turbocharger, was designed with fewer parts to provide greater reliability. This third-generation EGR system is much simpler and more efficient. One-piece steel pistons contribute to the improved design. The MP7 features beefed-up bearings and cylinder heads that help give highway operators a powerplant built to last.
Keeping the weight off.
Coming in at approximately 700 cu. in., the Mack MP7 is a lightweight and compact package. It weighs nearly 143 lbs. less than previous Mack highway engines and 27 lbs. less than previous vocational models. The Rear Engine Power Take-Off (REPTO), used with bridge formula mixers, shaves off about 126 lbs. and shortens the back of the engine by 10 inches. Mack electronics. The efficiency you need to stay on the road to profitability. Electronics offer both drivers and managers a way to boost productivity. The new Granite® MP Engine series and Mack Pinnacle™ series use our time-tested and road-proven Vehicle Management and Control System or V-MAC IV. This next generation of advanced electronics gives you greater control of your costs and lets you monitor your truck and engine better than ever. In addition to hundreds of proven programmable features, V-MAC IV adds a host of new items, from the simple yet smart design of the daytime running light override, to the comprehensive ABS-based tamper detection. V-MAC IV electronics come with DataMax,™ an advanced trip recorder that captures vehicles trip histories, duty cycle information or scheduled maintenance intervals.
Keeping a close watch on maintenance.
The GuardDog™ preventative maintenance monitor is one of the best weapons you have to combat unplanned downtime. This advanced system tells drivers when fluid levels are low. Maintenance data comes from real-time sensors instead of preprogrammed schedules based on mileage. The result? Accurate information to reduce downtime and boost efficiency based on your operation.
An engine brake powerful enough to
stop a Mack truck. PowerLeash™ is a Mack engine brake that is ideal for operation in the MP7 engine. It has all the qualities of a Mack truck — durable, powerful, reliable — and provides more braking horsepower through mid-RPM ranges.
Drive more. Maintain less.
Easier maintenance is one of the ways to profitability. The MP7 is installed lower in the chassis for easier, quicker access. The overhead cam has fewer components so there are fewer wear points. The engine is built with higher tolerances, increasing the maintenance intervals of your vehicle.
