ENERGY SAVINGS FORMULA
To calculate annual energy savings from a Bi-Level switching system, use the
following formula:
AA (Fixture load in kiiowatts) < & (Ballast input reduction) x C (annual operating
hours at low) x D (KWH cost) x E (Number of fixtures) = Annual Savings in $
lect lamp type and waltage and use ane of the following figures:
1000 watt fixture = 1,100 watts, 400 watt fixture = 460 watts, 250 wat fixture
= 300 watts. These figures refloct average ballast heat lass.
Example: 400 watt HPS = 460 watts. (Use 460 KW for calculation)
B = Select % Ballast input power at low for appropriate lamp from Bi-Level Range
chart and subtract trom 100. Example: 400 watt HPS, 34% power at low =
.66 power input reduction,
= Estimate work hours per day lighting loads could idle at low and multiply by
number of workdays per year at your facil, Example: 12 hour workday with
low level lighting used 75% of the time = 9 hours @ low per day x 312
workdays per year = 2.808 annual operating hours at lov.
Local cost per KWH, Example: $.08 per KWH
E = Tolal number of fixtures, Example: 60
Example as described:
AL 460 KW) x Bl.68%) x C(2,808 hours} x D($.09) x E(60) = $4.604 Annual
Savings
