Assessed and Recommended Switchgear list

Purpose This list replaces any and all previous listings of switchgear approved for use in
E ON Central Networks that have been issued by East Midlands Electricity and
Midlands Electricity (and any successor companies).
To provide a guide for switchgear application, selection for Infrastructure
Services , Energy Services , Independent Connections Providers, procurement
and External Service Providers.

Scope This Company assessed and recommended switchgear list covers indoor and
outdoor switchgear with the voltage from 11 kV to 132 kV provides a summary
the main electrical parameters and related assessment information of the ENA
Switchgear Assessment Panel. This also provides a guide for switchgear
application, selection for Infrastructure Services, Energy Services, Independent
Connections Providers, procurement and third party service providers.

The list only includes the switchgear currently in production, available in the
market and assessed and recommended by the company. Switchgear that has
previously been assessed by ENA and approved by CN is not included.

Audience Available to:

E.ON Central Networks, E.ON UK Business Services, E.ON Energy Services and
their service providers and contractors.

Assessed and Recommended Switchgear list

1. SCOPE

This company approved switchgear list has been prepared by E.ON Central Networks. This approved
switchgear list covers the provision of indoor and outdoor, three phase switchgear, for 11 kV, 33kV,
66 kV and 132 kV for continuous service at 50 Hertz, for use on E.ON Central Networks distribution
network. It supersedes all previous approved switchgear lists that have been issued by East
Midlands Electricity and Midlands Electricity (and their successors).

Switchgear covered by this assessed and recommended list shall comply with the relative
International and British Standards (BS) and Energy Networks Association Technical Specifications
(ENATS) listed.

The list only includes the switchgear currently in production, available in the market and approved
by the company.

2. GENERAL REQUIREMENT
The switchgear shall generally, except where varied by the related E ON Central Networks technical
specifications for switchgear is specification, comply with the appropriate requirements of all
relevant sections of the Energy Networks Association Technical Specification 41-36 and 41-37 (ENATS
41-36 & 41-37) and IEC 602271, current at the time of tendering.

In general, the switchgear listed should be reliable and safe to operate, with low life costs,
interchangeability and availability of service. The manufacturer’s manuals should clearly indicate any
special consideration and procedure for installation, commissioning, use, maintenance, disposal in
respect of Health and Safety, Environmental and Statutory obligations. The risk assessment process for
possible/potential hazards and particular areas of difficulty should look at the complete life cycle of the
equipment from installation to removal and disposal, and should be highlighted in the installation and
operation handbooks and manuals.
