SEATWORK 1: GROUP

HUMAN RESOURCE PLANNING


Instruction: Groupings will be based on the number of HR majors in the class.

Imagine that you are a part of management and your company is about to undergo a major cut in the
workforce. In short, you are about to lay off employees. Thirty percent of the workforce will be affected.
One major reason is the Php 10 million worth of equipment that your company will purchase in six
month’s time. How will you discuss this decision to the employees who will be affected by the layoff?

SEATWORK 2: GROUP
RECRUITMENT
Instruction: Groupings will be based on the number of HR majors in the class.

Two candidates have been shortlisted to fill the Sales and Marketing Manager position. The first
candidate commands a Php 10,000 difference in salary against the second choice. The first candidate has
an extensive experience in sales and marketing and stresses a “take it or leave it” in his/her salary.
However, the budget for the Sales and Marketing Manager fits the second candidate’s proposition.

You, as the HR manager, are in dilemma.

If you choose the first candidate, you have to justify to the top management the reasons why you will go
beyond the budget. If not, you will stick to the second choice and opt to train him/her to make up for
his/her lack in certain areas. Who will you choose ̶ the first or the second? Justify your answer.

SEATWORK 3: GROUP
Instruction: There will be 2 groups. Each group will assess the other group.

Imagine that the class has 2 small organizations. Do a training needs assessment by surveying each
student’s strengths and weaknesses.

After identifying the needs, analyze and prepare a short training program based on the identified needs.

Training Needs Analysis Instructions:


Step 1: Download the training needs analysis form.

Step 2: List the people across the top of the spreadsheet that you want to complete the training needs
analysis for.

Step 3: Encode the scores to the spreadsheet from the TNA form.

Step 4: The lowest scores given in the average per skill will be the top priority areas for you to focus on
first.
