Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

☒ Remembering ☒ Understanding ☒ Applying ☐ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☒ Creating

Levels of Technology Integration:

☐ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☒ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

This lesson will give students multiple means of engagement, representation, and expression. It will enhance
learning in the classroom by capturing their attention and giving them a try at creating their own video based
on whichever option they choose.

Lesson idea implementation:

I will show the video I created to the students and the students will complete the quiz that is included. We
will discuss the answers together, and then I will ask the students to choose a continent they want to create a
video about. They will make a short video about the major landforms in that continent and the location on a
map/globe. This will be an ongoing assignment for a week. I will help the students with anything they need
along the way, but it will be their own creation.

When they are done, I will grade the video they create, and the videos will be played for the class to learn
more about each continent and landform. Then, the students will take a test on the material. I will use a
rubric that I provide to them for the video and assess their knowledge from the test.

Importance of technology:
A multimedia authoring tool is critical for the project because it will help them learn and understand the
material a lot better in a more engaging way, while they also learn how to use technology for the future. The
project could probably be done without technology, but it will be more useful for students to know how to
add titles, voiceovers, music, pictures, videos correctly and creatively than to create a poster board and talk

about it. This way, we could even post it online for parents to see and students to re-watch if they need the
extra help. They will probably need to use a free music engine and a free stock photo engine as well.

Inspiration (optional):
I used a video from Discovery Education to include in my video:

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:

Some possible issues during this project could be that students go to websites they shouldn’t and access
content they shouldn’t. I will make sure I monitor each student’s computer as closely as possible and ensure
that some websites they might go to are blocked or filtered. I will also send parents a note letting them know
what we will be doing, so they should check in with their child to make sure they know what they are doing. If
parents are not okay with this, I will have an alternate assignment for that student. I will also follow the
district policies and will recommend to them websites they can go to for music and photos that are safe and
okay to use.

Reflective Practice:
The activities I have provided should impact student learning by keeping them more engaged. Since they have to make a
video about the subject , they will have to know that subject very well, which will help them learn too.
