MUSIC | LESSON 1: GETTING TO KNOW LA-SO-MI

Big Idea:
 The pitch of a song can go up or down.

Essential Questions:
 What are the difference between high and low pitch?
 Can you go from a high pitch to a higher pitch? How?
 How can you go from a low pitch to a lower pitch?

Notes:
 Music is organized sound.
 Tones are arranged to create music.
 You can create simple songs with the tone La, So, and Mi.

Drill:
 Review on p 39.

MUSIC | LESSON 2: SING MI-RE-DO!

Big Idea:
 Tones can be arranged to move up or down or stay in place.

Essential Questions:
 What kinds of songs do you like to sing or listen to?
 Can you tell how the tones are put together in your favorite song?

Notes:
 Melody is the arrangement of tones in a musical line.
 Some tones move up. Some move down.
 Some tones are simply repeated.
 You can create simple songs using the tones Mi, Re, and Do.

MUSIC | LESSON 3: PENTATONIC: DO, RE, MI, SO, LA

Big Idea:
 You can make simple melody sound more exciting by combining five or more tones.

Essential Questions:
 How well do you know the tones Do, Re, Mi, So, La?
 What songs do you know have all these five tones combined?

Notes:
 A pentatonic scale is composed of five tones.
 Do, Re, Mi, So, and La are the tones of pentatonic scale.

Performance Task 2.1:


 Practical activity. Instruction: Study the rhythm and its melody of “Here Comes the Blue Bird”.
Clap and recite the pattern. Practice the so-fa syllables. Then, sing the words. *See p. 46.

MUSIC | LESSON 4: LET’S SING IN HARMONY

Big Idea:
 Two or more persons or voices singing one song can create beautiful harmony.

Essential Questions:
 Do you like singing with group?
 Have you ever sing a duet?
 What songs do you like to sing with your classmates and friends?

Notes:
 Harmony is the singing or playing of two or more tones at the same time.
 In singing rounds, we need to concentrate, imitate well, and practice the songs well.

 Review on p 51.

Performance Task 2.2:


 Practical activity. Instruction: Study the song “Are You Sleeping?”. Do the following
a. Recite the lyrics in rounds.
b. Practice singing the melody until you have mastered it.
c. Sing the song in rounds. Think of some actions to go with the song and perform them in
rounds.

ART | LESSON 1: PATTERNS AND PICTURES

Big Idea:
 Patterns can be used to make beautiful artworks.

Essential Questions:
 Can you recognize a pattern when you see one?
 What patterns do you see around you?
 How can pattern of shapes and colors result in a beautiful artwork?

Notes:
 Pattern is an artistic arrangement of shapes, colors, or lines.
 Patterns is also called rhythm in art.
 The two types of rhythm are repetition and alteration.

Performance Task 2.1


 Bracelet-Making. Instruction: Make a bracelet with patterns.

ART | LESSON 2: BLACK AND WHITE

Big Idea:
 The law of contrast makes use of light and dark colors.

Essential Questions:
 How is contrast is created to an artwork?

Notes:
 Contrast is one way to show emphasis in art.
 Contrast is being light colors next to dark colors.
 Black and white show a strong contrast. Putting them next to each other makes a strong
image or picture.
 Artists show emphasis using two very different colors.

ART | LESSON 3: BUTTERFLY PRINTS

Big Idea:
 Create beautiful works of art through printing.

Essential Questions:
 How does printing an image become an artwork?
 What objects would you like to print and transform into a work of art?

Notes:
 Printing is an art form where an image is transferred by means of ink or paint to one another
surface like paper.

Performance Task 2.2:


 Butterfly or Flower Printing. *See p. 135.

ART | LESSON 4: ART FROM NATURE

Big Idea:
 Several things from nature can be used to make wonderful art pieces.

Essential Questions:
 What things in nature can turn into materials for an artwork?

Notes:
 Printing teaches you to repeat shapes and colors to make interesting patterns in your artworks.
 You can find good materials in nature to make artworks.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION | LESSON 1: EXERCISE TO STAY FIT

Big Idea:
 To become physically fit, you should combine exercise with eating the right food and getting
enough rest every day.

Essential Questions:
 What kind of exercise can you do?
 What can you do to get enough exercise every day?
 Why do you think exercise is good for you?

Notes:
 A listening circle is formed when the teacher points the index finger to the floor, and circles the
other index finger overhead.
 A listening line is formed when the teacher points the index finger to a line and extends the
arms sideways at shoulder level.
 A quiet signal is made when the teacher raises one hand.
 The homes signal is when the teacher makes a roof over his/her head with the hands andlisten
to the next instruction.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION | LESSON 2: LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Big Idea:
 Games are not only good exercise but a lot of fun, too.

Essential Questions:
 How does playing games help you to become physically fit and healthy?
 What are your favorite games?

Notes:
 Fitness games are activities that help warm-up muscles in preparation for do other activities.
 Clockwise means among moving in the same direction as the hands of a clock.
 Counterclockwise means moving in the opposite direction as the hands of the clock.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION | LESSON 3: THE STUNTS ARE FUN

Big Idea:
 Stunts are fun to do and help develop body coordination, flexibility, and strength.

Essential Questions:
 What stunts can you do by yourself?
 What animal movements can you imitate?

Notes:
 Stunts are gymnastics activities in the form of play. These activities help us develop strength
and flexibility.
 Individual stunts are performed by one person only.
 Hopping is to make a little jump from the ground using only one foot or both feet.
 Jumping is to rise momentarily into the air by springing with the aid of the leg and foot muscles.
 Rocking is to move to and fro.
 Strength is the capacity to exert force.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION | LESSON 4: DOUBLE THE FUN

Big Idea:
 Doing stunts with a partner makes the exercises more fun.

Essential Questions:
 What stunts can you do with a partner?
 How are dual stunts made even more fun and exciting?

Notes:
 Stunts are serve as an excellent form of exercise. Dual stunts are done by two persons or by
partners.
 Extend means to stretch to a full length.
 Flexibility is the ability to move, bend, and stretch body parts to their full extent.
 Hook arms is to lock arms tightly with your partner.

 To lean is to place the body not quite upright.


 Momentum is continuous motion of the body. This is needed in the stunt Human Rocker.
