Assessment technique: Subject linked activity
Task: Individual assessment
Objective: To enable students
• to enhance their knowledge through extended learning
• to broaden their observation skills
• to develop interest in and out of school activity
• to identify different types of minerals found in different parts of India

What to do:
1. Students should be asked to choose any one mineral.
2. They would look up in an atlas and find out places where that mineral is located.
3. Places should be marked on a map of India and submitted.

Assessment should be based on the following:


5 marks for plotting the places
2 marks for studying the atlas properly
1 mark for neatness
1 mark for timely submission
1 mark for attitude towards the activity
Total marks: 10

Remedial measures:
1. Students may need help in studying the atlas.
2. Students may need help in marking places on a map. Help could be given to students
on how to study and plot maps.

Assessment technique: Chart making
Task: Group assessment
Objective: To enable the students
• to enhance their knowledge through extended learning
• to identify famous monuments in our country
• to identify the minerals and rocks used to make these monuments
• to correlate classroom learning with real life
• to collect, organize, and display the information

What to do:
1. Make groups of five students.
2. Each group would be asked to think of any ten monuments found in our country.
3. Groups will collect pictures of these monuments and find out name of each stone/
rock/mineral used to make these monuments.

4. Make a chart using pictures and information

Assessment should be based on the following:


5 marks for collecting pictures and analyzing the rock/stone
2 marks for chart making
1 mark for neatness
1 mark for timely submission
1 mark for attitude towards the activity
Total marks: 10

Remedial measures:
1. Children may need help in analyzing the monument for the rock/stone/mineral it is
made of.
You may need to revise the types of rocks.
