Q1 Solve any one of the following
a) Prove that current in purely capactive circuit leads the applied voltage by 900. (07) Calculate capacitive reactance and current if 100 μF capacitor is connected across 230V, 50 Hz ac supply b ) The expression for the alternating voltage is given by v = 1.41 sin (314t + φ ) Calculate : i) The average value of voltage (07) ii) RMS value of voltage iii) frequency of the supply iv) draw the waveform for this alternating voltage
Q2 Solve any one of the following
a) Draw connection diagram and phasor diagram for three phase balanced delta connected resistive load across a three phase a.c. supply and show line voltage, (07) phase voltage, line current and phase current on it. b) The resistance of 5Ω is connected in series with inductance L across 200 V, 50 Hz single phase ac supply. The voltage across resistance is 50 V. Calculate: i) (07) Voltage across inductance ii) current in circuit iii) value of inductance.
Q3 Solve any one of the following
a) For a single phase transformer, Define and state formula: i) Voltage Regulation ii) (06) Efficiency of transformer b) A 80 KVA single phase transformer has iron losses of 2 kW and full load copper losses of 1 kW. Calculate: 1) Efficiency at full load, unity p.f. 2) Efficiency at half (06) load 0.8 p.f. lead.
