India’ relations with neighbor countries is getting more tensed day by day. Recently India’s
ban on 59 Chinese apps, not allowing Chinese citizens in Delhi hotels by their owners, state
and center day by day terminating contracts with Chinese companies have highlighted
tension between India and China after Galwan valley dispute. Nepal’s recent map outline
created tensions between both India and Nepal. After abrogating article 270 and article 35A,
tension between India and Pakistan soured.

China has over 5% of India’s total export in FY2019-20. And more than 14% of imports. This
shows that there is huge trade deficit with China. Chinese export comprises automobile,
electrical applications, fertilisers, plastic and engineering goods. Chinese investment in
Indian start-up (around 4 billion dollar) will have huge impact on startups of India. India
aspire to be self-sufficient economy (aatmnirbhar bharat) though we cannot ignore the
dominance of china in Indian economy. Apart from things mentioned above China
dominates in smartphone market, festivals light (which has become an integral part of any
festivals). India is depended majorly in drug for medicinal purpose and tourism sector will be
more affected. Last year India removed Pakistan from most favored country list (in this tariff
is reduced and allow cross border trade efficiently.)

India is culturally connected with neighbors. Pakistan and Bangladesh, before 1947 partition
were part of India. We have with china from ancient times. Chinese travellers account
during their visit are used to study our history. Both Nepal and India are connected through
culture of Hinduism. We

While aspiring to be self-sufficient economy is not bad idea, but since we are in globalized
world; exchanged of ideas, goods etc are travel beyond a country’s territorial border.
Sudden stop of all trade (due to dissolving ourselves in nationalism feeling) will be fatal for
India majorly. India without creating proper infrastructure to boost indigenous trade, cannot
aspire to be self-sufficient. India has concept of self-sufficient economy from 1947 but due
to 3 wars between Pakistan and 1 war with china created lots of tensions between Indian
economy which resulted in India opening its market for foreign investment. One country
does not have enough resources to be self-sufficient. Every country is depended on each
other for some or the other resources. Government should slowly try to reduce deficit by
creating more alternatives of foreign good which matches quality of foreign goods and also
available to everyone.

Since India is surrounded with troubling neighbours, india should develop relations with
strong economy. Like India and Russia relations on defense equipments, India – Japan
relations and japan helping India in bullet train, india can work on more on foreign tourist
safety to encourage more and more tourism sectors. India, though connected with neighbor
countries for trade and other purpose should also work on defense as well since security of
nation is most important for any citizen residing in India.
