HOW TO ACCESS FREE SOFTWARE

Hello all,
As we go through this difficult time, many companies are providing temporary relief to various users and
institutions. The IT department is providing a list of software that can be downloaded for free (some for a
certain duration of time). Here are the instructions on how to download some of these software if you are not
already aware. Please review the software that interest you.
List of Software:
Autodesk: AutoCAD, Revit, 3dsMax (Free)
SketchUp Pro 2019/2020 (Temporarily Free until June 30, 2020)
V-ray (SketchUp, Revit, 3dsMax: Temporarily Free – The promotion says 1-year but is subject to change)
Enscape (Free)

Adobe (Temporarily Free: Still In Progress)

 Autodesk (AutoCAD, Revit, 3dsMax)
• To Install Autodesk software (AutoCAD, Revit and 3dsMax) for free, copy
this link below and paste on your browser’s URL:
https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/featured

If you don’t already have an account, create an account (Free) and fill out all
the info (License type: Educational single-user licenses, Version: 2020,
Operating System: 64 bits, Language: English). Make sure you fill out the
correct information based on your computer/laptop specifications. Once
you choose the app, it will prompt you to download the Autodesk installer
app, which will show you the progress of the download. Proceed and once
the download is complete, the option to run/open will show up. Do so and
it will begin to download the software. The procedure is straightforward
from there.
• For MAC users, please refer to the link on the NYSID portal under the
resource tab>>Technology Services>>Documents>>How to Install
Bootcamp & Windows 10 on Mac. This allows you to partition your Mac
to use Windows operating system on it as well.
 SKETCHUP PRO 2019 (Temporarily Free)
• To install SketchUp Pro 2019, copy and paste on your
browser’s URL:

• Choose your OS (Windows 10, Mac OS) and after it is

downloaded, open it from the download folder and run it
(double-click it) 1
• Once you open up your SketchUp Program, on the
bottom left, click on license 2 , then on the top, click
“Classic”>>Add License Serial and authorization Code

• Select a product(s) from the Educational Products section/Tab Students/Select a

product (Ignore pricing)
• You must create an account using your NYSID email (to acquire free license)
• Note: FYI, our school’s versions (not current) are : 3dsMax: update 2.1, Revit:
3.70.05, SketchUp: 1.2. When downloading V-ray, there will be a section that
says “Show all versions” make sure this option is ticked. In the case where our
school is back in session within the semester, using these builds will prevent
problems like incompatibility. If you get the latest, there is the possibility that
the render might work on our computers; so decide with caution if you want the
school’s current versions or the latest.
• You will be requested to “fill in a short form to prove their student status where
they will need to upload a copy of their student card”
• You will then proceed to the checkout page and will see an option to apply the
promo code (promo code checkbox to be ticked)

• Upon order completion, students will receive a confirmation email with
information about the products.
• Note: This V-ray promo code works only for SketchUp, Revit & 3dsMax
 ENSCAPE (V-RAY ALTERNATIVE)
• For those of you looking for an alternative rendering
program, you may try the software Enscape. Enscape
is a real-time rendering software that works in
conjunction with SketchUp and Revit. You can get a
free student educational license with the link below.
Just fill out the information (use your NYSID email) on
that page and submit it, so they can send you the
license.

Visit https://creativecloud.adobe.com and
use your school credentials to sign in.
 Adobe acrobat trial message fix:
When I try to install, I see this error: “You don’t have access to manage apps. Permission from
your IT administrator may be required to enable apps management”.

This message appears if a managed package of adobe applications was installed by your
administrator. Contact your IT admin and have them install a self-service package.

I see a trial prompt when I sign in to Acrobat DC on my computer.

When you install and launch Acrobat DC on a Windows computer and sign in, if you see
a Try or Buy prompt, do the following:

Exit Acrobat DC, if it is running.

Download the AcrobatStudentAccess.zip file and extract it on your computer.
Right-click the included EXE file and choose Run as Administrator. (Click yes or enter your computer
password, if prompted)
Start Acrobat DC. It should now launch without asking you to sign in.
