Introducere
În această lecție vom discuta toate formele și utilizarea timpului

Present Simple. Present Simple este primul timp pe care îl învățăm în
limba engleză. Vom afla când se folosește și care sunt adverbele sale
caracteristice.
The Present Simple Tense (timpul prezent simplu)
Simple Present Tense (timpul prezent simplu) se formează de la

infinitivul verbului (infinitivul fără to). De exemplu, infinitivul cu to al
verbului a lucra este to work, iar infinitivul fără to este work. La toate
persoanele, în afară de persoana a treia singular, forma afirmativă a
timpului prezent simplu este work. La persoana a treia se adaugă -s.
Forma afirmativă

I work. – Eu lucrez. We work. – Noi lucrăm.
You work.– Tu lucrezi. You work. – Voi lucrați.
He works. – El lucrează. They work. – Ei lucrează.
She works. – Ea lucrează.
It works. – Se lucrează.

Sufixul -s la persoana a treia singular poate avea forme diferite. Dacă

verbul se termină cu o vocală, va primi sufixul -es, de exemplu verbul
go, care la persoana a treia singular este goes, sau verbul do, care la
persoana a treia singular este does.
Dacă verbul are sufixul -ch, -sh, -x, -ss , continuarea va fi, de

asemenea, -es. De exemplu:

He teaches. (teach – a preda)
She washes. (wash – a spăla)
He kisses. (kiss – a săruta)
She fixes. (fix – a repara)
Dacă verbul se termină în -y care este precedat de o consoană, -y se

transformă în -ie. De exemplu:
Exemple:
He cries. (cry – a plânge)
It flies. (fly – a zbura)
Dacă -y este precedat de o vocală, nu există modificări.
Exemple:
She plays. (play – a se juca)
He stays. (stay – a rămâne)

Excepție face verbul have (a avea), care la persoana a treia are forma
has.
Forma interogativă
Forma interogativă a verbului la Present Simple Tense se formează

cu ajutorul verbului auxiliar Do, respectiv Does (la persoana a treia,
singular), și infinitivul verbului de bază.
Toate întrebările din limba engleză se împart în întrebări Yes/No și

WH.
Yes/No nu au cuvânt interogativ și la ele se poate răspunde cu da sau
nu.
Întrebările WH încep cu cuvântul interogativ: when, what, why, where,
how, how much, how many...

Do you work? – Tu lucrezi? Do you work? – Voi lucrați?
Does he work? – El lucrează? Do they work? – Ei lucrează?

La întrebările Yes/No se dau răspunsuri scurte (short answers) astfel:

Forma negativă

Forma negativă se formează de la negativul verbului auxiliar Do

(respectiv Does la persoana a treia singular) și infinitivul verbului
principal.

You do not (don't) work – Tu nu You do not (don't) work – Voi nu
lucrezi. lucrați.
He does not (doesn't) work – El They do not (don't) work – Ei nu

She does not (doesn't) work –

Ea nu lucrează.
It does not (doesn't) work – Nu

se lucrează.

Utilizare
Timpul prezent simplu se folosește pentru:
1. Acțiuni care se repetă (obiceiuri, rutină)
Exemple:
I get up at 6 o'clock. – Eu mă trezesc la ora 6.
She wears a uniform at work. – Ea poartă uniformă la serviciu.

The English drink tea at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. – Englezii

beau ceai la ora 5 după-masă.
În acest sens se pot folosi și expresii de frecvență (cuvinte care arată

cât de des are loc o acțiune). Ele sunt:
Exemple:
always – întotdeauna
usually – de obicei
often – adesea
sometimes – uneori
never – niciodată
every day – zilnic
every month – lunar
every year – anual
once a year – o dată pe an
twice a day – de două ori pe zi
three times a week – de trei ori pe săptămână etc.

Adverbele always, usually, often, sometimes, never stau în fața

verbului principal la forma afirmativă. Expresiile every day, every
month, twice a year... stau, de cele mai multe ori, la sfârșitul
propoziției.
Exemple:
I always go to school at 8 o'clock in the morning. – Eu întotdeauna

merg la școală la ora 8 dimineața.
She usually drinks tea in the evening. – De obicei, ea bea ceai seara.
We never eat in the living room. – Noi nu mâncăm niciodată în

camera de zi.
2. Adevăruri general valabile (ceva ce este întotdeauna

corect):
Exemple:
People change money in banks. – Oamenii schimbă bani la

bancă.
A day has 24 hours. – Ziua are 24h.

The Earth goes around the Sun. – Pământul se rotește în jurul

Soarelui.
The Danube flows into the Black Sea – Dunărea se varsă în

Marea Neagră.
3. Caracteristicile subiectului:
Exemple:
He speaks English very well. – El vorbește foarte bine limba

engleză.
My sister plays the piano. – Sora mea cântă la pian.
